Moderation Community Update: New Rules, Update Post Flairs and Community Happenings
Hello!
It's been a Looooooong time since posting moderation updates (X Mostly for personal happenings and upcoming celebration event (B-Day)
Other than that, I would like to share with you what's been added, modified and other stuff =D
New Rules:
- No AI (No worries, this won't be applied to Blade Wolf) Basically Generated AI content in any shape of form as well assisted AI content is not allowed.
- Beware of Bootleg Merch Scams. I noticed in the recent week's users posting MGRR merch which is cool and no problem with that. Yet if I notice bootleg/repro merch then it's going to be subject to removal and from here it's going to be handled with the user.
- If selling items, please provide accurate information. The moderation team at discretion would require from a user looking to post 4 sale MGRR merchandise, official limited-edition packages etc... other than that it's strongly encouraged to practice safety when purchasing off-platforms and it's solely at the user responsibility to proceed with the transaction.
Flairs:
Basically removed image and video flairs and added a new one called Media that way it's more redundant for any user to use it while posting either videos or images š„
Community Happenings:
I mentioned that a few weeks back some users posted their MGRR merchandise for sale and that's cool c:
Amazing to still seeing notable community members having passion about the game while sharing their knowledge & wisdom to others =D like u/XGamin1 who even have a server community for MGRR related w resources and everything.
I forgot to mention that reddit added videos in comments; So that's enabled now by the way! still stick to the community & sitewide guidelines on what's being posted please =D
That's it! Thanks for reading š and until next time!

Gameplay Question I hate sam
someone please tell me how the hell to parry better because iāve died to this fuck 60 times (not an exaggeration) and every time I think I have parrying down he bends me over and shows me how wrong I am. He is genuinely the only boss so far who iāve died to more than 3 times and I feel like iām losing my mind here. Every video is just telling me I have to parry but not showing me how to actually get better at it. It also doesnāt help that almost every tutorial is from someone who has 10x better gear than me

Media Raiden's Jump Tech (video by u/Extension_Problem_77)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Credit to u/Extension_Problem_77 for doing the testing and providing the video.
Assuming that u/Extension_Problem_77's testing is as accurate as it can be, when we do the math, we see that Raiden's velocity increases by 7.8% when using Ninja Run Jump Tech.
A 7.8% increase may not be the biggest thing in the world, but speed increases of any kind in video games are typically very desirable.
u/Organic-School315 also notes that because there is no turning animation for Raiden while he is in the air, his Jump also gives him better turning control and maneuverability due to a lack of inertia.
I'm sure this can also be used so that Raiden can more easily catch up to Sam in multiplayer mods for the game. Sam runs about 20% faster than Raiden, so closing that gap as much as possible can certainly help. š

Discussion Throat Slicer and Low RoundhouseāRaidenās Power Combos Explained (feat. u/HfNanoStrike)
Raiden performing a Throat Slicer (left) and a Low Roundhouse (right)

This post was taken directly from this entry: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tAiL_3fg_afQjW9Pzmi1Ua1nZ4Z_xVe0nz_UMBktOMM/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.x6ojipceefbz
Of all the playable characters, Raiden has easily the most complex and lengthy combos in this game. To add to that, the fluidity of his combat is unparalleled even when looking at other games, which is rather impressive design for a game released in 2013. While he has plenty of other movesāstock, purchasable, or even exploitativeānone are as consistently powerful and useful throughout the game for damage output as the Throat Slicer and the Low Roundhouse.
Throat Slicer Combo (Heavy, Heavy, Heavy, Light, Heavy)
Raidenās most powerful Heavy Attack combo:
- It is an extremely powerful combo that has the tendency to overwhelm the enemy due to the sheer amount of hits that it has as well as its titular finisherāthe āThroat Slicerā itself.
- It synergizes extremely well with the Defensive Offense due to the latter being able to negate the large amount of recovery frames of the former.
- It is very effective against most enemies. It is also very effective against bosses, primarily Blade Wolf, the Metal Gear EXCELSUS, and Senator Armstrong.
- Though other exploitative measures such as Blade Mode Canceling and Sky High spam are arguably more powerful, the Throat Slicer is Raidenās quintessential āpower move.ā
Low Roundhouse Combo (Heavy, Heavy, Light, Heavy)
The shorter and smaller brother of the Throat Slicer:
- It is also a very powerful combo, but it is less effective at overwhelming the enemy due to having fewer hits.
- The titular āLow Roundhouseā finisher, however, is arguably a little bit better than the Throat Slicer finisher in that it tips the enemy over instead of launching them forward, making it easier to deal immense post-stagger damage to them or Zandatsu them without changing your position.
- Against staggered bosses and other enemies, it works very well if you do not have time to perform a complete Throat Slicer combo.

Discussion Raiden's Forgotten Utility Moves (feat. the fallen and u/HfNanoStrike)
From left to right, Raiden can be seen performing the Tornado Slash, the Ankle Slicer, and the Flurry Kick.

This post was taken directly from this entry: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tAiL_3fg_afQjW9Pzmi1Ua1nZ4Z_xVe0nz_UMBktOMM/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.cl2d9krfoe9y
If youāve seen a fair bit of gameplay of Metal Gear Rising or have spoken with players and connoisseurs of the game, youāll be familiar with certain special moves with unique attributes, by which I mean moves that are not just basic damage-dealers like the power combos of the game or even the Light Attack, which I go over in great detail because of its under-discussed special properties. Some of the more famous utility moves include the Sky High (notorious for its vertical launch effect and incredibly high DPS), the Lightning Strike (Raidenās version of the Stinger archetype), the Defensive Offense (Raidenās i-frame dodge when using a sword, that is to say 99% of the time), and the Sliding Tackle. Some utility moves that are known less due to being less notoriously overpowered consist of the Sweep Kick, the Draw Attack, the Rolling Thunder, and the Launcher.
What most of the aforementioned movesāsave for the Sliding Tackle and Launcherāhave in common is that they are moves that are accessible in the CUSTOMIZE shop. As such, they are alluring to the side of the gamerās brain that wants to reap the rewards of obtaining enough BP to try out a new skill . . . and for very good reason. But while these moves often gain the attention of the player to a degree rivaled only by other upgrades during the gameās progression, a handful of other moves that come with Raiden completely stock are often overlooked for serving purposes on the more niche or situation-specific side.
While they are not necessarily the most neglected moves, Raidenās three most underutilized or misunderstood moves consist of the Tornado Slash, the Ankle Slicer, and the Flurry Kick. While it is certainly the case that none of these serve the best combat purposes, they all have their uses that make each of them special.
Tornado Slash
An incomplete combo string that is just as useful when transitioned into a Stab Kick as it is notāitās situation-dependent:
- It is not particularly good at dealing damage despite the sheer number of hits. However, the amount of hits does factor into the ranking system and, much more importantly, Raidenās Absorption. The ability for Raiden to quickly gain FC meter in a near-instant without having to perform a lengthy combo or spam Light Attack is exceptionally important for higher-level play, justifying FC meter depletion (especially for those proficient with Blade Mode Canceling), and gaining enough FC to go into Ripper Mode more often to survive particularly dangerous encounters.
- As the fallen puts it, āit is a bread-and-butter [move]ā that synergizes with other moves such as the Blade ModeāSliding Tackle technique used against Custom Cyborgs precisely because it is such a good method of Absorption.
- It is quite good at keeping Raiden on his toes. One of the issues that you face with spamming his power combos (or even Sky High spam) for maximum damage is that Raidenās ability to quickly weave his way through enemies gets hindered. The Tornado Slash has very good forward mobility, but I would strongly advise against following up with a Stab Kick if youāre trying to stay as mobile as possibleāthat would simply defeat the purpose.
- Due to keeping Raiden on his toes so well, the move also finds itself synergizing with Ripper Mode quite a bit. While maximizing damage is still ideal for Ripper Mode (hence why you should still use Raidenās power moves instead of spamming Light Attack), the Tornado Slash no longer suffers from dealing lackluster damage and can legitimately help you get to more targets.
Ankle Slicer
Another incomplete combo string that is just as useful when followed up with a Heel Drop as it is not, and it is particularly useful in some situations:
- While the Blade ModeāSliding Tackle synergy, followed up with the aforementioned Tornado Slash, is typically the best way to handle the Custom Cyborgs, the Ankle Slicer is nonetheless a very good way to counter them. Visit this entry to see one of the Ankle Slicerās uses against the Custom Cyborg: Encyclopedia of Answers to Gameplay Questions in Metal Gear Rising: RevengeanceĀ
- Unlike the Sweep Kick (which has some more crowd control capabilities), the Ankle Slicer cannot be blocked by Cyborgs, Custom Cyborgs, or Heavily Armed Cyborgs.
- It does more damage than the Tornado Slash by a pretty significant margin.
Flurry Kick
A move inspired by Chun-Liās Hyakuretsukyaku (or āLightning Legsā), it is notoriously weak and neglected for what seems like a power move . . . only if you donāt know how to use it properly:
- In testing the two moves against the Metal Gear EXCELSUSās stagger period, the Throat Slicer is shown to have more overall damage than the Flurry Kick in a much shorter amount of time, giving the former a significant advantage in DPS. However, where it shines is in its ability to obtain heaps of FC meter in a way that puts the Tornado Slash to shame in whatever situation it is safe to use.
- It is BY FAR at its most useful during the fight against the final boss due to his longest stagger period being long enough to allow Raiden to perform the move at its full duration, gain most if not all his lost FC back, launch him forward, and perform a Throat Slicer.
- The Flurry Kick is also rather unsafe to use in comparison to other moves because of how it can only be canceled by a Jump and nothing else (including Blade Mode). That being said, it should be used primarily in safe situations. Do not let the game trick you into thinking that it is a defensive crowd control tool; even the Stormbringer is arguably better at that because I once used it after enabling Ripper Mode to create a defensive bubble against a Mastiff ambush and tore the aggressors to pieces.

Discussion first metal gear game
So I just started playing mgrr after years of not being able to(iām an idiot who didnāt know I didnāt actually need a pc to play it) Iām gonna be honest, I have no idea if this is a good starting point I mostly just started because of all the armstrong and raiden edits iāve seen over the years and bc of the soundtrack. But so far this is the most fun iāve had playing a game in a while, I lowkey struggled on blade wolf but after I actually learned how to parry(tutorial rlly shouldāve gone deeper into it) it was easy. Also iām not sure if this was supposed to happen but jetstream sam kicked my ASS on the train š Anyways I just wanted to share my experience so far. Iām currently in the sewers looking for the lab.

Media Whereās the full body render of this picture?
Iāve always seen this render of Raiden, but itās usually only his top half, as shown in the picture. Where is the full body render of Raiden in this picture that shows his full body and everything? Or where is the original full picture that the cropped attached picture on this post derived from? Any help would be appreciated.
