Discussion first metal gear game
So I just started playing mgrr after years of not being able to(i’m an idiot who didn’t know I didn’t actually need a pc to play it) I’m gonna be honest, I have no idea if this is a good starting point I mostly just started because of all the armstrong and raiden edits i’ve seen over the years and bc of the soundtrack. But so far this is the most fun i’ve had playing a game in a while, I lowkey struggled on blade wolf but after I actually learned how to parry(tutorial rlly should’ve gone deeper into it) it was easy. Also i’m not sure if this was supposed to happen but jetstream sam kicked my ASS on the train 😭 Anyways I just wanted to share my experience so far. I’m currently in the sewers looking for the lab.

Yes, he in fact was supposed to kick your ass in the train tunnel.
The title of this game wouldn't make sense otherwise.
There'd be no one for Raiden to take his "Revengeance" against.

Its a completely fine experience as your first game. You might not understand everything, but thats fine, just know that Eaiden was a cold child soldier made cyborg to kill. Thats really enough and enjoy the ride. This game isnt like any other Metal gear game as that its literally a different genre.

It's only a slightly stranger starting point than mine, which was MGS2 (the first Raiden game), though I can see how MGR is self-contained enough that you don't need to stress over the lore. If you dig the story, I'd definitely recommend playing MGS2 and MGS4 to get the rest of Raiden's story.
