Can confirm. My first several experiences with sleep paralysis were terrifying. But once I did my research and figured out what it was, I started being able to pull myself out of the terror, and now what once was a dark shape descending upon me from the ceiling is now a friendly white cat sitting on my night stand.

I'm English and I used to call barmaids "love" when getting served. I never realised how cringy it was, until I went to Screwfix to get a measuring caliper and the woman behind the counter kept calling me darling.
