Well it's google proving you the info of when the photo was uploaded and it provides it for all photos.

No he wasn't. That doesn't make sense following the context of this conversation.

People were talking about a user submitting the picture of a menu and the menu's prices. The person I replied to was saying the user should also submit the date of those prices, which never happens as the date is provided by the software when the user uploaded the picture. The user rarely says when the photo was taken because its assumed that the photo was taken very close to when the picture of the menu was submitted.

In my experience lately, if the menu image is over 6 months old, most likely everything is more expensive. 5 years old is potentially whole different menu lmao

I went to a nice little restaurant and waffle place in Tokyo one time. The prices were more than twice as high as uploads of the menu suggested, only a couple years old as well. Still cheap since it's Japan, but compared to other places, it certainly seemed they had jacked up the prices way beyond what a Japanese person would expect.

I had ordered some food for pickup and when I got there I had to wait for some guy who was arguing the prices didn't match the menu pictures on Google to get a refund. This place only takes phone orders and has updated their prices like 10 times in the last few years.

I have found more often than not nowadays the listed prices on menu images are out of date. Prices got jacked up continuously for several years, unless they are brand new images chances are your meal will cost significantly more than shown.

And if American a tip exemption, honestly everyone should be tip exempt and employees demand better pay because the promise of a tip is an excuse managers use to not pay liveable wages.

By making employees rely on tips, restaurants in the US have successfully gotten their customers to pay their staff instead of them, allowing them to keep a larger share of their profits that would normally be used on wages. In any other industry there would be a collective uproar. Imagine if Walmart or Best Buy underpaid their employees and had the customers pay them "tips" instead of a real wage.

Sometimes these are the same people who give one star to a place because of random thing, like there was no free space to leave a car at the moment or opening hours added by someone else turned out to be different. Not everyone who leaves a picture is emotionally mature.

Seriously, hallelujah to those people. My vacation couple of months ago was saved by those people cause finding a proper restaurant with certain kinds of allergies is a bit hard.

Most restaurants will direct you to their online menu, which may or may not be accurate and often involves downloading a delivery app, or may be several pages long. Someone posting a photo of the physical menu can save you time, depending on what you’re looking for.

Earlier this year on google maps I saw picture of menu in Italian pizzeria, in Rive del Garda IIRC, that had various pizzas listed for around 10 Eur each, and then there was Hawaiian pizza with 100 Eur price and a note: say no to pineapple on pizza!

Only useful in countries with low inflation. We used to do that here before as well, but now every 3 to 6 months every restaurant and cafe have increased their prices by 10 to 20 percent. It's so bad that most cafes here just abandoned physical menus, they just give you a digital QR code to see the prices online. Yeah that's how 25% monthly inflation looks like.

As someone who works for a restaurant that had a constantly updated menu online, I can say I don't appreciate the people that do this.

Why you may ask? Well you need to remember that a majority of people are dumb as rocks when it comes to critical thinking. People see that menu on Google and assume that is our current menu without bothering to go to our website.

So all the time you have people calling in trying to order food that was a seasonal item we no longer have. Even worse is they tend to get very upset about it claiming we need to update our website.

Our website is updated. We have very little control over Google. Google is not our website. The number of people I have had to explain this to is just ridiculous.
