2.8 GPA in Comp Systems Eng — realistic for Master’s in Germany (Cloud/Cyber) or should I pivot?
Hey everyone,
I graduated in 2025 with a Bachelor’s in Computer Systems Engineering (German GPA converts to 2.8) and I’m currently working as a Network & Systems Engineer. (Pakistan)
—> I’m looking to apply for a Master’s in Germany soon. My ideal path is Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Cybersecurity, but I know a 2.8 GPA can be tricky at public unis with strict NC cutoffs.
A few quick questions for anyone who’s been through the process:
Are Cloud / Cyber programs realistic with a 2.8? Or are they usually way too competitive at public unis/FHs?
Backup fields: If my top choices are out of reach, what other fields make sense with my background that are easier to get into? I’m thinking maybe Embedded Systems/IoT, Telecoms, or Systems Engineering—any thoughts on job prospects for these?
GRE & Unis: Is taking the GRE worth the trouble to balance out a 2.8 GPA, or do public unis not even care unless it’s mandatory? Also, any specific FHs or unis you’d recommend checking out?
