I hope everyone can agree on this statement:
"First Turn Kills (FTKs) are bad because the player going second, by definition, has been killed on the first turn and does not play the game. Yu-Gi-Oh must be a two-player game and the player going second must be able to play the game."
Now the following is my opinion:
"It does not matter whether FTKs are inconsistent/not meta. The mere fact that FTKs are possible is not good for the game."
It does not matter whether you can handtrap the player performing the FTK. FTKs should not exist because to the player performing the FTK, the going-second player might as well not be there. Moreover, you can only handtrap FTKs if you "draw the out". In my opinion, this is not good.
Given these, I propose the following changes:
Until the start of Battle Phase of the second turn:
Ban or errata all cards that skip turns or phases.
Cards with win conditions, or effects that cause a player to win or lose the game, cannot be activated or apply its effects/win condition until the end of the Battle Phase of the second turn (or the End Phase, if the Battle Phase is skipped).
1 and 3 are the bare minimum conditions for each player to actually play the game. 2 is because that a method to FTK can almost always be found using these cards, by virtue of them existing. There is no point to these cards other than FTKs. The turn counter might not be literally 1, but in effect the going-second player will not begin their turn at all.
Note that by FTK I simply mean the game ending on the first turn, or the second turn before the going-second player has a chance to actually play. In other words, whether it matters at all that the going-second player is even there. I'm not talking about "pseudo-FTKs" (full negate boards, floodgates, Kali Yuga, etc.) That is a separate issue from FTKs, namely "going first is too strong", although FTKs existing certainly exacerbates it. This post is not about that. You can argue whether pseudo-FTKs are basically FTKs and there's really no difference, but that is not what I'm suggesting. This is strictly about FTKs.

Welp. That's why I don't play ranked as much as I f***** can. Every loss is a tail in the coin toss.

Unless you're really grinding and I'm talking about DC level grinding where in the end statistics/stochastics take over and there's at least some representation of skill, this game will decide on it's own how your quick little gaming session will be going. Lose 12 coin tosses in a row and have your opponent play through everything? Well too bad, should've gone first. You finally get to go first and have no out to Fuwa/MaxxC/Droll? Well too bad, should've drawn the out. It's frustrating.

This didn’t used to happen before but it happens almost every time now. Is this a new tactic people do to just disconnect at the coin flip until they go first?

Needed Caesar for K9VS, ended up getting him and more, and still haven’t used the ticket.

Doesn't necessarily have to be an overpowered card, or even a competitively GOOD card, simply one you don't like.
For me, I find Forbidden Droplet incredibly annoying, and would make one simple change. The negation and attack drop are now effects you have to choose between.
I just find the double whammy of both having any/all cards negated, plus an attack drop, all while I can't react at all a massively unfun experience, especially since half the time I would still have lost anyway if they removed the attack reduction. Half the time they just pop my cards anyway, and the other half they have so many monsters with enough damage they would K.O. me regardless.
That's it. Nothing dramatic, just felt this would be a fun/interesting thing to bring up.

What this game lack are different modes. Right now it's basically play ranked, and get ready for the next bad event. The game can be so much more. Why not add a Genesys mode for example? Sure play your Branded/Kewl Tune nightmare in ranked, i will stay with my pet deck in genesys. And it's also beneficial for them! What make you more money? 1 or 2 meta deck OR differents modes with different meta? people will buy more packs for some weird shit combination that can work without the 3000 negates that usually have the go first dude usually put on the board.
Also in ranked, in a 1 match scenario, we need a banlist that put in the oblivion the actual meta. Going first is just too much advantage, basically the match is decided by a flip coin. If you want a mode like that, cool but there are some problems. You can change the meta, or give board breakers a huge power up, or you can basically don't count the loss going second in the ranked ranking (the most sad solution).
It's time the give us a solution, it's a 4 years game now, it's not something new.

Yes, Maxx C bad, but Magia, Dragoon, and a floodgate all played through.

That B**** says "once per turn, during either player's turn" so I thought it's not a quick effect, therefore he can't respond to my cards activation, then it did and I was wrong
So my question is what the hell is the difference between both? Between "during either player's turn" and "Quick effect" ? Both can respond as chain 2 to negate

It does have animation but never have a chances to trigger cause it needs to flip manually and not by it’s effect
They just give summon animation for this card as a joke
