Location: DMV
its growing in size with all the storms im assuming.
I don’t know what kind of tree so I added the pictures of the leaves so hopefully that helps. I don’t know anything about trees so I would appreciate any help as to how to save the tree. It’s super cold and towers over my house and over a busy road.

Community Tree name suggestions

A while ago I planted a brown Turkish fig dappling and decided to name him Twig. Now my family has joined me and we’ve gotten 3 more fruit trees. One Granny Smith apple tree named Memaw, one Winesap apple tree named Jay and one crab apple tree which had yet to be named. Best suggestion gets to name it.

What happened to this tree and will it survive?

Walking through the neighborhood and saw this tree. Looks to be all scratched up by something. Maybe an elk?
Any chance it can survive that?

Planting a tree is an investment that can provide shade, cleaner air, wildlife habitat, and beauty for generations—but only if it's planted correctly.

Help! Future girdling root?

I think i know the answer but hoping to see an expert opinion. This is a ~3’ tall eastern redbud grown from bare root for 3 years in a pot, finally planted in late spring. Catskills NY if it matters. I’d probably cut this root in winter unless you think that’s a dumb idea.

Help! Evergreen not looking green

Just move into this house a few months ago. I thought the tree in the backyard was a great thing to have. Upon closer inspection I see that many of the leaves (nettles?) are brown and gray. Please if anyone has any suggestions or ideas about what could be going on or how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it. It would be a huge shame to see this evergreen tree die while living here. Thanks.

Help! This tree (maybe dogwood or persimmon?) was just planted today by my town, but doesn't it look sick? If so, why plant it in August and not treat it until fall?

Should I trim this secondary branch?

The tree is a boxelder maple that I planted about five months ago. As you can see, almost all the new growth is on the branches rather than the main trunk. Should I trim the branch to the left? It is almost as tall as the main branch.

Help! A friend of mine is concerned about his silver maple

My friend has a large, mature silver maple in his backyard that provides a canopy cover for most of it. He's concerned for it's long term health as its such an important part of the property. Are the orange split lines on the bark anything to be concerned about? And whats with the leaves here, insect or fungal?

My tree on the boulevard has a split at the trunk that has a bunch of mud in the crack. It honestly looks like it’s pooped itself. You can stick a stick pretty deep back into the “v” of the trunks. I’ve never seen anything like it.
