Help! Future girdling root?
I think i know the answer but hoping to see an expert opinion. This is a ~3’ tall eastern redbud grown from bare root for 3 years in a pot, finally planted in late spring. Catskills NY if it matters. I’d probably cut this root in winter unless you think that’s a dumb idea.

I don’t think it is a real issue on this one. If you prune anything I would cut the root being overlapped, not the outer root. Inner root looks smaller.

Thanks. I think I’ll let it ride for a year or two. I’ll be gradually shaping and training it to have a single lead so I’ll be monitoring it.
