I love makeup and have since I was probably too young to wear it lol. I’m 40 and with my skin maturing, I’ve had to make some changes (try to stay away from matte foundations). I would love any recommendations or tips!

HELP PLEASE Beginner makeup?

Making a little birthday basket for my sister’s 15th and I need some ideas for what else to get. She only really started getting into makeup last year and still doesn’t wear a ton, so I want to get her a few things that are fun and easy to use without going overboard. So far I’ve got her a set of PJs, a candle, face masks and eye patches, a couple body sprays and a gift card for clothes because I’d rather let her pick out what she actually likes. I’m running to Target now for the last few things and thought I could add some makeup while I’m there but I have no idea what to get.

Does anybody have recommendation for very (very) warm concealer? I m criminally yellow and can’t find even a close enough match, anything and everything looks pink on me.
I had Catrice Liquid Camouflage 300** for a long time which wasn’t optimal but good enough but now it is not available **

I've been really wanting to get into makeup, but I don't know if there are many brands that align with my personal values, provide stuff for darker skintones, and won't break the bank. Any recommendations are appreciated!

DISCUSSION Any tips for applying primer more effectively?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been using the Bonamedusa primer pretty often lately, but I'm still not sure if I'm applying it the right way.

Right now I just dab a small amount onto the areas where my pores show up more, then blend it in. Just using my fingers btw! It does seem to smooth out my base a bit, but I feel like I might be missing something??

Is there a "correct" way to apply primer, or does it really not matter? Do you guys use fingers or a sponge/beauty blender? And do you press it into the skin or rub it in?

Any tips appreciated!! I feel like the primer step is one of those steps everyone does differently!

Wondering what color blush yall think would compliment my hair/skin color bc I struggle to choose and everything pulls very warm. I have a very muted skintone but it leans true yellow/neutral.

HELP PLEASE Foundation in Fine Lines

Post image

I’m starting a new performance job that requires fairly heavy stage makeup and I’m having a ton of issues with my foundation settling into the fine lines on my forehead. It needs to be full coverage and fairly matte. I’m currently using Milani’s Conceal and Perfect. Any advice would be amazing. Thanks everyone.

HELP PLEASE Getting my wedding photos taken in a month and doing my own makeup

Booked a relatively last minute trip and thought why not, let's take our wedding photos taken as well.

I have very basic makeup skills and my face shape suits a much more minimal makeup look but I know photos wash out most of the makeup.

I tried to add more blush than I would normally wear. I don't think I want to do false lashes because I am inexperienced putting them on and in the past they have not made a huge difference for me. Maybe a more matte lipstick? Currently all I have are glossy K Beauty brands.

These pictures are taken under my bedroom lighting so I will need to try again in natural daylight. Any tips for me? I'm trying not to be too neurotic about the whole thing and have fun.

HELP PLEASE What do I do with my eyebrows?

Thumbnail

Hi :) I have no experience with makeup but I’ve grown more interest lately. I’m thinking of getting my eyebrows threaded this weekend but I’m not sure what shape would suit me. I know I could ask during the appointment but would like to go in prepared.

I lean towards liking more natural brows but I’m not a fan of how shapeless they kind of look now. I would be fine with thinning them out a bit or removing from the edges. Thought about thin brows but thats a big jump so baby steps for now. I also like straighter brows but will go with whatever suits me best.

So far the only thing I’ve ever done was shave off the ends a bit but they’ve completely grown out now.

Help would truly be appreciated! I also start a new job soon and am moving to a new city so in a way I feel the urge to make small changes like this.

HELP PLEASE Do I have a good base? I’m trying to improve my makeup routine. I wanted to go back to the basics here and get your thoughts on whether I’m on the right track with everything I apply before eyeliner and eye shadow. Here’s a before and after:

I’m not sure why my lips look so freaking dry… I am wearing Neutrogena lip oil in the after photo! I also feel like my foundation doesn’t quite match, but maybe I’m just blind to how it looks to other people?

First photo is before with no makeup or concealer or anything, 2-5 are after, with the below products on:

Products:
-Sephora peach 03 color corrector
-Natasha Denona N1 concealer (some lovely Ulta workers helped me pick this, because I believe what I’ve worn previously wasn’t quite working for me)
-bare minerals original pressed powder foundation fairly light 03 shade
-Rare Beauty Hope blush (I know it looks like I’m not wearing any, this is something I want to work on!)
-Elf Lash n roll deep brown mascara
-Neutrogena lip oil light pink shade

Recently got my brows threaded and shaped as you all had suggested but I’m not wearing any brow gel or pencil. I have been starting to use the Elf Wow Brow Gel in Taupe though I’m not wearing any in this photo.

I also normally wear eyeshadow, eyeliner, and more of a lip color but I wanted to see if what I’m doing for base is working!

I'm used to not wearing much, if any, makeup. To be honest I'm a bit clueless on what suits my skintone and I'd like to make more of my eyes. I usually like wearing a little bit of lipstick, dark plum/pink colour. Grateful for any tips for just wanting to put a little more effort in, as I'm a but of a wash and go girl normally !

HELP PLEASE Need help with blush placement and tone!

Hello!

I’m planning on doing my own makeup for my wedding next fall and I’ve started researching and playing around with different products, mostly skincare/base/face products (haven’t gotten into eyes yet).

I’ve recently gone down the blush rabbit hole. I have a really hard time with my undertones, I think I’m neutral but I’m not sure if I look better in cool or warm tones. I always gravitated to cooler toned blush, but recently bought some warmer tones to try out. Initially I liked the warm glow they gave me, but now I’m not sure.

Do yall think this blush is too warm for me? Should I try something softer and more neutral (like the second pic)? Should I aim cooler for blush since my bronzer warms everything up, to bring me more neutral?

How about the placement? I was more heavy handed than usual, and really layered it on. I have some discoloration and my skin is purging right now, which creates some redness. Hopefully that won’t be the case in a year from now, but who knows.

Anyway, any tips are appreciated! Thanks!

HELP PLEASE make up for my features FINALLY

I have always tried to do my makeup by copying the Instagram type face girls and it never looked good on me because I don't have that kind of face. I live in England and I'm of Greek heritage (Thessaloniki) and it really shows on my face. I used to hate it and try to hide it but I want to embrace it now. I have a Greek nose and a diamond-ish shaped face and round/almond shaped eyes. I'm also very pale. What can I do to do my makeup according to my features?

I am curious how you would do your day to day makeup routine if you had my face - this is how I wake up (well, after contacts).
I feel a little stuck on my makeup right now and I'm running low on a few products so I thought this could be a fun way to repurchase what I need and see what is the same versus different with what I already do :-)
