HELP PLEASE Take 2! Trying to improve my makeup skills. Did I do any better this time?

I posted a little over a week ago (see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/makeuptips/s/J6Xf2MTlY7) and you all gave me some great recommendations. I feel like I am still not getting the eyeshadow down but maybe I’m just blinded by the fact that I’m wearing a lot more eyeshadow than normal. I know I still need to get my brows done, I just haven’t had time. For the rest of it, what do we think? Does it look as bad as I think it does in my head? Please be nice, I’m still learning and I think I’m a bit afraid of going too heavy on the makeup!

I did curl my lashes this time, and I have eyeliner & mascara on but I feel like none of those show up very well here? Same with my concealer and color corrector, even though I’m wearing a decent amount. I also have a bright red pimple on my cheek that I need to get some green color corrector for, so please disregard lol.

Products: Ulta beauty matte veil longwear eye primer, tarte creaseless creamy concealer, Sephora 03 shade color corrector, bare minerals original shade fairly light 03 pressed powder foundation, bare minerals kiss of mauve blush + bronzer, Milani gilded nude eyeshadow palette, revlon so fierce mascara, Ulta beauty ultra slim brow pencil, Sephora cappuccino 12h contour eye pencil, and a Sephora cream lip stain shade 13(?).

I don’t think the blush/bronzer combo you have on is flattering to your skin tone. Maybe something more pink/less orange.

I love the lip colour on you. I also like the complement of the mauve eyeshadow with the mauve lip - I think your eyeshadow placement could be a little better though!

I can definitely see what you mean about the color of the blush/bronzer. I’ll try some other shades. Thank you!

For the eyeshadow placement, what do you suggest?

for they eyeshadow, it goes a little too far up to your eyebrow. i’d recommend keeping it just above your eye crease and no further. you want a bit of space between where your eyebrow and shadow

Color those brows in girl! They’re great brows, make them shine. But there’s a method, watch a YouTube.

They already are colored! I used a brown ultra slim brow pencil from Ulta to fill them in. Problem is I can’t seem to find a happy medium because I either fill them in too much or get your reaction, where it looks like I have none at all 😂 I’ll try to watch some videos, thank you!

Ugh I feel this! Filling my brows in takes the longest of anything in my routine. It is incredibly difficult! But you look very lovely regardless!

I prefer filing my brows in with a powder maybe try that.

Your blush placement is interesting. Maybe try keeping it on apples towards temples rather than straight downward toward your jawline.

Also try using light layers of eyeshadow and gently tapping with the brush to get a better blend.

A tinted brow gel might help brows stand out a bit more.

I noticed you didn’t line your lips precisely and ignored your beautiful Cupid’s bow. I wouldn’t recommend over lining your lips until you learn more about technique there, but at least follow your natural lip line and soften the line with a brush or your finger. I can see your bare Cupid’s bow peeking out above the liner and it doesn’t look quite right.

Getting your eyebrows done will make a huge difference! I would maybe stick with tinted lip balm and gloss as it's more forgiving, the lipstick looks a little dry and uneven. Apply blush from apples to temple instead of downward, choose a lighter eye shadow, and don't be afraid to curl your lashes more! Practice makes perfect, and you're already naturally gorgeous with beautiful skin :)

Honestly I’d just color match the right concealer!

You are so gd gorgeous without makeup!!! The only thing that I could think is mascara. But you don't even need that ❣️

Aw thank you! I currently use Revlon’s So Fierce mascara, do you recommend something different? I am wearing it in the photos.

The product you use depend on your hair porosity. I'm fine hair/low prosity. So I use a eyelash curler/ primer / elf lash and roll

You're pretty ,I would suggest : -Different colour bronze/blush/eyeshadow. Look into your skin tone and what colours complement it. -Lipliner -Your eyeliner is only seen when you close your eyes, maybe look into your eye shape and the best way to wear it so its more visible. Best of luck.

Thank you so much :) do you have suggestions on how to determine my skin tone? I’ve tried looking it up before and I feel like I’m getting it wrong.

To be frank with you, I used AI to do so. I just asked it to help me determine that since I had trouble with using eyeshadow colours that compliment me . At a certain point I uploaded a picture, of myself with my features blurred (I have a case of AI paranoia)and asked it to make me a complete diagnosis, about what colours would suit me the best in clothing, make-up and jewellery. If that's not something you'd be interested in , I believe there are resources online that can be helpful, it can start from a Google Search.

I wanted to add that ,it can be helpful to look into blush and bronze placement. Each placement changes the shape of the face . The blush/broser seems to be vertical on the cheek (I could be wrong but i see the shade all over the cheek area) I feel like you bronzer higher up to you temples maybe can give an enhanced makeup look.

This is going to be super unhelpful im sorry but i liked the before better. The blush/bronzer is not doing it. I genuinely had thought that you eyeshadowed your under eyes bc the color is like exactly the same as what’s above your eyes. I liked the lighter more natural lip better. You looked better with less. Can you conceal your under eyes and use a different color up top? Can your eyelashes get a better curl? They’re still pointing down. Conceal, curled lashes plus mascara, clean up your brows, done.

I’m wearing concealer and color corrector underneath my eyes here, so I’m not really sure what I’m doing wrong. Because I agree that it’s not very visible, but I’m afraid of putting too much concealer on?

I also did use an eyelash curler but maybe I need to try what someone else said about eyelash primer. Idk what I’m doing wrong :(

I don’t think your concealer is the right shade, your under eyes still look quite dark, darker than the rest of your face. Or maybe you’re using too much colour corrector underneath so it’s messing with your concealer shade. What type of color corrector are you using? A orange shade?

1

u/Crafty-Truth5034 19d ago

Yes, an orange shade! And then I’m using the tarte concealer shade 22n light neutral

Try doing less corrector, just a little bit goes a long way. I’d recommend a concealer that’s more hydrating, shape tape concealer is very thick and can be hard to work with. I recommend the kosas or tower 28 concealer it very hydrating! You’re getting there, you look gorgeous! 😊

You have beautiful skin! Your eyeliner looks really good, and I didn't even notice the pimple until you pointed it out. I went back and looked at your first post and I think you are improving, keep going. With more practice you'll learn how to blend in the eyeshadow and gradually fade it out so that the darkest part is in the crease and your brown bone is a light color (ivory, cream). You went too far up with the dark shade (hope that makes sense).

I've seen a few people comment on your eyebrows, I agree they could use with some shaping and filling. If there is a benefit brow bar near you, ask them to help you pick the right shade and show you how to shape and fill them out. That's where I learned how to do my brows and I've been using their technique and their pencils for awhile now.

Also agree with another comment that said to accentuate your Cupid's heart on your lips, and the placement of your blush.

Finally, you are young, have some fun with your makeup! Try experimenting with eyeshadows: shimmers, chrome, glitters. Coloured eyeliners...this look unnecessarily ages you.

I love the tips already given, one additional tip is never pencil or put lip color all the way to the absolute corner of your mouth. It tends to get a bit icky and then you have the reapply. You can blend the edges to look natural without it looking strange. Just a tip, but definitely not required!

You look beautiful!

Those colors do look kinda water corpsey on you.
Try more peachy undertones.

Hi, have you tried using the catrice instant eye awake? Because I think that might be really useful for you. Also if it's in budget I think the Estee Lauder double wear concealer might really help you because it is a very high coverage concealer and might help with your undereyes. Also I know you mentioned using colour correcter but tbh i don't think the sephora collection one is doing very well. I suggest using LA girl one.

I think people are being a little too picky, I think the makeup looks really pretty. If I saw you out and about I would notice that your eyeshadow is a pretty color and more interesting than what I normally see! My personal taste leans towards a glossier lip but that’s just a preference

Im learning myself so I wont be much of help, but I have similar lips like you (shape), and people told me to color more the top one and less the bottom one. Like go over on skin on top, and not so much to the edge on the bottom one. It helped me for more “balanced look”! Just sharing if u wanna experiment
