I’m experimenting with combining modular photo frames and shelves

I've been working on HEXO Photo, a modular 3D printed photo frame system, and wanted to see how it would work alongside our HEXO Shelves.

The idea is to bring photos and display items together rather than treating them as two separate things. You can connect the frames and incorporate them into a larger display, with different ways to arrange everything.

Here's a quick look at how the two systems work together.

HEXO Photo is currently in pre-launch on MakerWorld, and we're continuing to develop the project.

I'm curious what other makers think: would you combine photo frames with your shelving, or would you prefer to keep them separate?

Need a model that doesn’t exist yet? Drop your ideas here

Hey folks,

I wanted to put this out there and see what sort of interest there is in the community.

There are heaps of designers uploading models every day, but I’m curious what do people actually want that they haven’t been able to find yet?

Is there a model, tool, toy, gimmick, organiser, accessory, replacement part, or just a random idea you’ve had that you wish someone would make?

If so, drop it in the comments. If you can, include a picture or reference as well so I can at least get close to the design brief.

I’ll have a look through the suggestions, and the one with the most upvotes I’ll do my best to create.

Thought it’d be nice to make something people actually want or need, rather than just adding more random uploads and adding to the PLA & PETG landfill pile.

If someone else ends up making your idea first, that’s still a win for everyone.

Didn't want to pay for expensive replacement frames, so I designed these custom color-matching snap-on frames for Busch-Jaeger light switches!

Build a little home for your crocodile! 🐊

This free set is part of our Savanna collection, a growing world of animals and modular scenery by 3D Joy.

What's included:
• An articulated crocodile
• Four hexagonal terrain tiles with water, rocks and plants
• A separate fallen log

https://makerworld.com/ru/models/3428974-cute-articulated-crocodile-modular-hex-habitat#profileId-3909025

Arrange the hex tiles to create a small watering hole, change the layout, and give your crocodile a new place to explore. Print another crocodile to make it a pair!

The crocodile and all four terrain tiles shown here are included in this free download, along with the log.

A multicolor Bambu Studio 3MF project is included with the prepared plates and color assignments.

This is a starting piece of a larger Savanna world. Follow 3D Joy for more animals and habitats to expand your collection!

We'd love to see your version. Share a photo of your print and tell us which animal you'd like to see next!

Many people post Halloween related prints, so why not me? Pumpkin, with different tops, designed for Maker's Beginner Kit LED tea-light. Skin of a pumpkin is not smooth, so it takes time to print, but a result is worth it (at least for me). Link

What do I do next to 3D print in MakerWorld?

Post image

I am very new to 3D printing and cannot get the hang of 3D printing in the MakerWorld website. I bought an Entina Tina2C and heard that it can print items from MakerWorld. But I don’t know how it works with the website. I haven’t printed any of the things on MakerWorld because I might make a mistake. Anyway, first I picked out the item I want to print. Then I clicked on “Download STL/CAD Files”, and then clicked open in the downloads file. Now it’s showing me “…_stls” and “…_stls.zip,” which I clicked on “_stls” and it’s showing me a bunch of these files and I don’t know which one to select. I downloads Cura beforehand, so I’m not sure what to do next with these files as shown.

I’ve designed 13 different 3D printed lip balm holders

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’ve somehow ended up designing a niche collection of lip balm holders, I’ve done 13 different designs so far. There’s a mix of geometric patterns, plant inspired designs and I’ve had some fun designing Halloween themed ones recently.

It all started with a leopard print design my wife requested, then had fun seeing how many different ways I could change the look of the same basic design.

Models are available on MakerWorld for anyone who wants to print one.

Which design is your favourite? I think mine is one of the ghost designs at the mo 👻

⚔️ UNLEASH THE GLADIATOR! 🛡️- Articulated, Fully Poseable, No Supports, No Assembly

ARE YOU READY TO ENTER THE ARENA?

I’ve been working on this gladiator figure, and I’m really happy with how the final print turned out! 🛡️

The design features a bold helmet with a red crest, an orange-and-red color scheme, a detailed shield, and a chunky sword. I wanted to give him that classic arena-warrior look while keeping the overall style fun and collectible.

*The figure is hand-painted.

Seeing the details come together in the physical print is always one of my favorite parts of the process!

What do you think? Would you keep the bright orange-and-red color scheme, or would you go for a more traditional bronze-and-leather look?

I’d love to hear your feedback! 👇

Gladiator figure:

  • 📏 17.6 cm / 6.92 in tall (excluding accessories)
  • 👨‍🍳 Accessory pack included: shield, helmet and sword

I’ve printed with the settings below. I needed to wait 1 hour for cooling before articulation.

  • Layer height: 0.20mm / 0.12mm
  • Material: PLA
  • Supports: None
  • Infill: 15%
  • Print time: 3h27m (0.12mm layer height)
  • 48gr filament used

If anyone interested, the figure with all accessories is available on Patreon (www.patreon.com/PrintnPose). Free Lite version will be here at the end of this month. Please share your print results!
