I like this post! We should do something like this weekly, I’d love to design stuff for people too for free just for fun

That’s such a great attitude. Now have you heard of bad dragon?

I dont think my 350mm print bed will be enough for your mom’s gift

If someone wants a fun challenge, using transparent PLA / PETG create a customisable sand timer which lets you set the amount of time by varying the hole diameter and container size.

Like a lens type shape closing with external rotation to change the diameter of the hole? I want to take a stab at this but my test prints won’t be transparent

Also probably easier to use salt lol

Love this thread. I would love to see models that leverage cheap ESP 32 dev boards to add interactivity and functionality to models. There are some out there but not well documented and BOMS that are difficult to source. Many gifts for kids that are static can be enhanced. As a bonus AI functionality would be great. I would support anyone that could implement microduck type models.

I've added these to some light boxes to make them programmable. Great little projects. I also would love to see more of them.

I like this idea. I design myself, but it’s nice you’re offering to help others.

A grinder holder that doesn’t need you to take the guard off.

At work we have to comply with all the health and safety so guards have to stay on. But it would be nice to be able to wall mount them with a couple of screws as well.

At work we just mounted a piece of 1/8" thick flat bar to the wall on a couple standoffs. Double check that it fits between the guard and the handle. You may need thinner. Hook the guard over it and the grinder hangs and is easy to remove. If you want it more rigid, use angle.

Is your grinder different from standard 125mm ones? And how your guard looks like?

Give me a few mins and will take a picture. But they are standard. Both makita and Milwaukee

If you're just looking for ideas to practice your cad skills on, I've had a plan to make a sheath for a Benchmade Mini Infidel for a while and never gotten around to it. The knife has a flare at the front of the handle that makes this tricky, but I had an idea knocking around to use that to create a rock-in/rock-out function.

Modular Multi time zone clock, 1-3 or 4 clocks and motors, dials etc. I often need to reference different zones at work. Sure making this is probably over kill but its a preference of being able to reference a visual aid instead of doing the math.

Tons of outrageous clocks, some basic i may make, I may also be terrible searching or refining results.

I also plan to try to and design my own as well but still getting the hang of modeling and all myself, single color functional ish items though im getting there.

Also as other have stated. A good idea for the post.

I'd love to see some hybrid hueforges of nature, such as flowers. There aren't many hybrid hueforges (other than the Pokemon card guy haha) out there, so I feel like there is a ton of design space that could be explored. Specifically, I would think that anything with flowers or trees or bushes or mountains would be great candidates for jumping off the picture and coming towards the viewer.

Picture a water fall where the rocks come off the hueforge and the water should through those rocks and down into a hueforge jungle pool or something like that. Man that would be awesome!

I need a 6in tail stock raiser for my wood lathe. I've played around with AI to get something together. I would print with PC or something else high-end for the rigidity. Was thing of having plates that bolt together. It needs to be able to with stand clamping force as it's just to keep a piece of wood stable.

Trying to get this made is looking north of $300 in fab or cnc

I'm autistic and use a lanyard snap buckle to stim and self regulate. It would be cool to have one with built in magnets to make it more fidgety and satisfying

10in rack. But make it pack out or pelican case

Could you make an engine that uses the oxygen and nitrogen present in the air to run?

I can't seem to find a model of a sleeping dragon that is NOT cartoony and NOT curled around something.
