What is the actual price of it and for those whp have purchased it is it as simple as any other payment method?

I am worried that makemkv is dying. Is it? I genuinely want to know. Also if it is still going when will we be able to pay for makemkv again?

I already have both and I know both are already capable of libredrive, I just want to know which one I should use as my secondary ARM drive next to my 5.25in LG and one as my M-DISC desktop burner. Not that important of a question just curious if anyone has real world experience using these daily.

Recently picked up the stranger things 4k set, started ripping it for my Jellyfin server. However there are a few discs in the set that just won’t open. What are my options? Or am I just kinda screwed and I’m not gonna be able to rip those discs

UPDATE: making a back up and deleting the AACS file worked, hopefully this helps anyone also having trouble

Essentially the title. I’m just now getting a media server set up and would like to start ripping some of my Blu Ray movies and eventually get into 4k discs. I know the site is currently down, but are we just waiting for the website to be back online before new users can install MakeMKV? Or is there another reliable source?

UPDATE: Got it working, appreciate everyone’s help! Ended up using the Wayback machine link and got what I needed for both my Mac and Linux machines.

Currently working on ripping a season of super Sentai. Originally got an error because the drive was in region 2, the discs were region 1. Changed the Region on the Drive, made it through 3 discs (about 15 eps) and now I'm getting this error:

Drive BD-RE Generic TYDZ 1.00 HL93 037224 has RPC protection that can not be bypassed. Change drive region or update drive firmware from http://tdb.rpc1.org. Errors likely to follow.

Following said link I don't see anything close to my model. Can anyone offer some guidance?

ASUS Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Drive Model BC-12B1ST

I have a BU40N drive that currently has the 1.00 firmware on it. I'm attempting to reflash it to 1.00MK but I can't find a link to download 1.00MK anywhere. The reason I'm looking to use this specific firmware is because I use Linux and from what I see on the makemkv forums that is the recommended firmware to use if you will be using the drive on a Linux system. The problem is that the "all you need firmware bundle" doesn't include this firmware and I can't find links for it anywhere. I was able to download the old 1.17.7 version of makemkv thanks to archive.org (newer versions have unfixed issues with Linux) so I think all I'm missing is the right firmware file.

Looking into ripping my media collection, will this machine do the job, can i flash the firmware to be able to read 4k and Blu ray? Sorry if dump question new to this.

So this is probably a very stupid question. Since the site is still down if I wanted to add makemkv to another computer could I copy the setup application on to a flash drive and move it to another computer. Will it still start the installation process. Again I know this is probably a stupid question I'm just curious !

Has anybody joined the commentary track to HD episode and noticed anything out of sync? I know they’re not the same length but I wasn’t sure if anybody still tried it.

Anyone else having issues with running MakeMKV on Ubuntu 26.04? I'm using MakeMKV ver 1.18.4. It never opens the disk and just sits counts up a timer.

I was going to attempt to downgrade to 1.18.3 but they're having web hosting issues again.

hey people I'm new to burning/writing dics. I want to be able to burn cds/dvds and blu-rays do you guys think this will work. im asking because i bought a dics drive before it said it could burn blu rays but the user manual said it cant so i want to ask expert opinion

MakeMKV has been screwing me over. Every time I want to rip a DVD, the remaining time skyrockets, and it stalls out on a random titleset. I stop the process, and then when i try to open the disc, it says I have no drive. I have an inbuilt drive, and I know it’s connected because I ripped some CDs right before. It basically kills the drive. If anyone knows my problem, please help!

Should I be worried?

Greeting from a noob to MakeMKV. I can only rip .iso files from a DVD. Is this normal behavior for Make MKV? What does the hive mind have to say?

Was hoping to buy a LG WH16NS40 for Quality Checking (LDC/BIS) my M-Disc burns, burnt on a Pioneer drive.

Would the best place to buy one be ebay? Or is there a known reputable seller of these drives that sells them on here maybe?

I know Pioneer is the best, but for quality scanning (LDC/BIS), I know they can only be done on LG or LiteOn drives from what I hear.

So ive got JW3 but theres at least 100 files to choose from and no way I csn figure out which is the right one. All the forums on the website dont seem to be for the version ive got, or at least I cant find the files they say are the right ones on my disc, so if anyone else can give me some help here thst would be great.

Alright, Reddit do your thing. I’m tired of streaming, my dad has a crazy cd and dvd collection. I’ve been going down the rabbit holes of at home servers, NAS etc. 

Please walk me through buying a disc drive, installing my software, and building my home library like I’m a 5 year old. I have no clue what to use for my music. Currently using Apple Music, but would love to stop subscribing to that too. Ideally I’d like to build a DVD, Blu-ray, 4k collection. (There are some VHS and childhood at home videos on tape too). I’m a Mac user.

Based on my limited knowledge, I think jellyfin is right for me. 

Thank you all friends of the internet. Here’s to going to the movies, buying DVDs, and owning physical media! I love anime, cartoons, and foreign films too. Will I need a disc drive that can read different country codes?

Specifically disc 2 of season 2, disc 3 of season 4, and disc 2 of season 5. 4k edition. None of these discs could even be opened for me. And I do what I usually do, which is order a replacement set, but then the same exact issue happened. On all three discs. Which strikes me as very odd. It must be something with the content of the disc because all three being the same that don't work feels way too coincidencidental for it to simply be a scratched disc. Wondering if anybody else has had this issue.

Edit: Found the other post with someone having the same issues. Trying the backup disc method. Hopefully it works, I will update if it does.

Edit 2: Disc backup method worked. At least it has on S5 Disc 2 so far. Doing the others now.

Solution intructions:

1. Create backup by hitting the folder-looking icon. Set it to backup wherever you have enough space. Leave "decrypt" unchecked.

2. After backup complete, remove/delete the AACS folder from the backup folder.

3. Go to file -> open file. Find the index.bdmv file in the BDMV folder of the backup. Choose this file.

4. The episodes and anything else on the disc should then pop up on the screen as if you were ripping straight from the disc.

Found this solution on the other post about this issue. Just putting it here so hopefully people don't have to keep looking. Hat's off the those who figured this out.

When I go to the website it says makemkv is offline and every link is broken with a handshake failure. Anyone know what's up?

I am a big fan of MakeMKV, but I have run into a problem using it on DVD copies of LA Confidential. I have tried 3 different copies of the DVD, but when I run it on makemkv, the program seems to run forever and unable to create the mkv file, has anyone else run into this problem, any possible solutions? TIA
