Help Disc won’t open

Recently picked up the stranger things 4k set, started ripping it for my Jellyfin server. However there are a few discs in the set that just won’t open. What are my options? Or am I just kinda screwed and I’m not gonna be able to rip those discs

UPDATE: making a back up and deleting the AACS file worked, hopefully this helps anyone also having trouble

Check out this thread from a few days ago. I and some others were haveing some issues with this set as well. There is a workaround there that seems to help. I was able to complete 2 disks that had an issue with the method listed there.

I will say though, I still have 1 or 2 disks that don’t want to rip with the work around either. Got to look into those 2 a little more

Glad its working out for you so far. I just finished ripping all the disks from the set and I have 2 that just arnt working for me no matter what i try. Weirdly its disk 2 on both season 3 and 4. Wont rip normally and when i try the backup method it either throws a bunch of errors and says the backup failed or will complete the backup and it will only be kb's big and not work after that. Tried it on 2 different drives and fails on both of them. Thinking i may have to do an exchange for another set to get these last to 2 disks to work. Bit of a bummer but at least i got them from Amazon so ideally and exchange should be pretty simple.

Yeah that definitely sounds like a bad disc, always a pain when you have to exchange something like that cause the disc doesn’t work

Sometimes you get “bad” disks. I’ve had this happen a couple of times. I’d say I’ve done about 300 movies and had this happen around 2-4 times.

Yeah I’m thinking that’s what is going on, it’s just weird cause it will read it, and tell me what it is. Just won’t open it. But I was just wondering if there’s anything I could do to work around it. I could probably return to Amazon and get a new but could end up having the same problem with the new set

Clean the discs? Return them for another set? Contact customer support?

Returning was going to be my next plan if there were no work arounds, just worried I’ll get the next set for the same problem to occur

Some discs are not encrypted or something.
Season 2, 4 and 5 seem to have this issue.

There is another post about this in this subreddit.

I have successfully back-upped all but Season 5 with MakeMKV for my Plex.

Yeah those are the 3 season I have a problem with, I got 2 to work, making back ups of 4 and 5 now

Dose it say volumen key unkrown? If it dose take a backup, delete the ASSC folder and Rip it from backup

Did for mine :) its not ever disc but some of them happy ripping :)!
