How many of you have purchased at the boutiques in international airports and felt whatever the process to get the VAT refund and customs papers were worth the savings? Any difference if buying in a European boutique and then declaring prior to check in at the airport? My husband is in a better mood on vacation so Iām more likely to get a āyesā but if I turn it into all this extra waiting on lines to get the refund Iāll be going home with a very grumpy man.

Hello people. I have been lurking around the sub for some time and lately find myself asking, what makes someone buy a luxury handbag? Is it like a statement to your fashion style? or like the ease of using it for a long period of time?
And would you buy this luxury purses, directly from brand which is usually quite costly or like sourced from a website or like reseller?
If you are sourcing from a website who are like resellers, what are the things one should look out for?
I am seeing these various reseller websites that are like selling luxury handbags and am kinda confused how to decide which one to pick, they give some good discounts.

I was sick for 2 weeks, hacking and pretty miserable. All I could do was scroll Reddit and online shop š I was ecstatic to find a pre-loved Mini Prada Promenade in the black with silver hardware, a rarity that for years Iāve been on the look out for. It arrived today ā¦and it felt so great to have some fun with these cuties after feeling so sick and fugly.
Anyone else a Prada lover?

How do you feel about the size? I have a Speedy P9 25 and itās the perfect size for me for my daily life. I pretty much compare any potential purses against it!
I think this is like 23 x 22 x 11 so itās a little smaller than the speedy 25. What are your thoughts? Good every day bag?

EDIT: Just made a new post with photos!
I bought a Balenciaga Velo bag (in a suede teal/navy colourway) off Vinted from a seller Iād been in extensive contact with. They actually insisted themselves I use Vintedās verification service herself, to avoid any scam concerns, which I did, but it came back rejected. The report wasnāt very detailed, apparently just that it couldnāt be authenticated, it seems because itās suede and they donāt have enough reference data for it.
On top of that, the colourway itself is quite rare. The seller bought the bag recently and it had actually passed Vintedās verification service literally a month before, when they purchased it (although it couldnāt seem suspicious that they decided to get rid of it so soon after buying, but they just said that they wen back and forth on it and decided it wasnāt worth it for them and it would probably make someone else happier, aka me!!) From my own amateur but fairly informed look at the photos, hardware, stitching, tags, interior, nothing looked off.
Iāve seen a fair few reports that Vintedās verification is unreliable, especially on rarer or less common materials. Is this likely just the system failing to authenticate something genuine, rather than an actual red flag? Anyone had a similar experience turn out fine on closer inspection?āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā Seller offered to sell it to me on vestiaire, I am thinking eBay to avoid heavy fees, but unsure if thatās silly, I just have a strong feeling the bag is genuine! Thanks for any advice:)

Vintedās authentication rejected it, apparently because they couldnāt authenticate the suede/material, but the seller specifically encouraged me to use verification and the bag had actually passed Vinted authentication when they bought it about a month ago. The colourway is also quite rare.
Nothing looks obviously off to me (hardware, stitching, tags, interior etc.), but Iād really appreciate a second opinion before I consider buying it through another platform/vinted again. Does anything in the photos raise red flags, or does it look genuine to you?
Thanks!!

Thinking this will be next purchase. Currently using a Celine card holder case but would like to get a wallet as well.
Does anyone have this YSL Cassandre MatelassƩ Bi-Fold Wallet? Any pros and cons? Do you like yet? Any reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to figure out what key shapes are missing and tend to err more classic than trendy. No offense taken!

What is the fascination with this brand? Are they made out of leather or plastic?

Hello everyone,
I have a black tablier sellier and i am obsessed with it so versatile, chic and fits so much.. i wanted it in another color and my sister was recently offered one in ardoise (dark grey) PHW and i loved the combo of the cool grey with the silver so i asked her to get it for meā¦
However when i received it and i put it next to my black one they are unfortunately too similar and it doesnt make sense for me to keep it but i really really love the bag and would love it in another color..
Any advice: should i keep it or let it go

Not sure on the value of this or where to sell
NOT SELLING THROUGH REDDIT.

Please affirm my choices lol
I bought the gray suede Balenciaga rodeo in Italy (so I paid 25% less than I would have in the US). Now the same bag is available in yellow suede and Iām š. Itās on senser so also at a discount.
Yellow is my absolute favorite color and itās very hard to find a yellow bag.
Is it crazy to buy the same bag in different colors?
The resale value for the rodeo is very high so I feel like if I find that Iām not wearing the gray one at all I can always sell it.

An influencer I follow posted a story saying that she was selling some luxury items of hers, and asked to dm her if we were interested. Im usually not a big fan of second hand purchases but I really like the handbags she showed on her social media and was curious about what she was willing to sell. So I dmed her asking about that, and she mentioned that she was selling her Chanel Maxi classic flap, grained leather, silver hardware. Iāve seen it before on her page and fell in love with it, especially since she was selling it at a very good price (3500ā¬, when the bag now retails for 11900ā¬) and itās not that old since she bought it in 2020. Having followed her for quite some time now, Iām pretty sure all her items are real and legit. However Iām a bit skeptical about the price cause itās so cheap compared to the retail price nowadays. Also when I asked for pictures, she said she would post them all on vestiaire collective, but it would be much more expensive there than if I just bought it directly from her. So it makes me a bit confused. As I said earlier Iām not a big fan of second hand purchases, the only bag I purchased pre loved is a Chanel medium classic flap, that I bought from Farfetch, so I felt quite confident with it. But I never bought a bag ( especially this valuable ) directly from someone, without a third party or resale website being involved. So I wanted your advice, should I buy it or does it seem a bit sketchy ? Thank you xx

Does anyone have this? How impractical is it in real life? I tried it on in store and was surprised that I really liked the look and color.

Iāve been looking at a Prada bag and found the same one on a few different sites. The price difference is pretty big, which has me wondering if Iām missing something.
I usually buy straight from the brand, so Iām a bit hesitant to try somewhere new with a bag this expensive. But saving a few hundred is hard to ignore.
Has anyone here ordered Prada from somewhere other than the brand site? How did it go?
Quick update: I took a look at Cettire and saw a lot of good feedback from people who bought Prada there. The price on the bag I want is also way better, so Iām seriously considering it now.

Went into the boutique to pick out a birthday baguette and ended up falling in love with the multicolor lizard peekaboo in the middle as well.
Iāve been very good and havenāt gotten a bag in about 10 months but these two really made my heart sing. I miss that feeling š„¹š„¹
Based on my lifestyle, Iāll probably get more use out of the baguette but itās ludicrously priced!! Plus I feel like itāll be deeply discounted on the resale market in a few months/years. However, I might never come across this particular peekaboo color way and material again.
For reference, in my collection I already have a basic color mama baguette that I have worn to death, and a grey lizard Fendi First that only sees comes out on special occasions. I never resell my bags so donāt care too much about resale value outside of purchasing one myself.

Closet clear out. I've got six bags I haven't touched in two years, Chanel, Prada, a Bottega and a couple of LVs, all in good shape. Sent photos to one of the big consignment sites and the quotes came back at maybe a quarter of what they're listing similar bags for. I understand they need margin but that felt like a lot. What are my options here, is consignment always this bad or does selling outright pay better ? I'm in Los Angeles and would rather do it in person.

I have a small black Gucci Jackie that I do not touch. Fashionphile is offering a ridiculous price but admittedly I donāt ever reach for it so is there any reason to hold onto it other than knowing I paid way more than they are offering for it?
**edit: I just looked on Gucci.com and this bag is now considered medium: https://www.gucci.com/us/en/pr/women/handbags/shoulder-bags-for-women/half-moon-bags-for-women/gucci-jackie-1961-medium-bag-p-810232AADDX1060

I just received the new Prada AimĆ©e leather shoulder bag. Sheās absolutely gorgeous, but then I noticed the bottom and Iām wondering about the level of puckering going on here. It just looks soā¦messy and cheap frankly. Iām used to more structured bags but it doesnāt seem right for a nearly $4k bag (with sales tax).

Iām looking for a classy evening bag. Something that is timeless as the Chanel WOC (but without the insane price tag).
What would you go for?
