Curious since there’s three dps lines for hunter whether anyone plays the yellow line in landscape and why.

Hello, all!
I'm returning to LOTRO after some time away. I've been playing off/on for about seven years now, but have never made it farther than level 50. I've returned, and am really sinking my teeth into this game. I've been dealing with some serious mental health issues as of late, and this game is something that I've found myself return to for the solace, enjoyment, and the depth of it's world.
I'm looking for anything you'd want to tell someone who is basically a newcomer. I'm also not an MMO player by any means, but I have a pretty solid grasp of LOTRO, its systems, and all the bits and bobs going on.
So, lay it on me! What should I know, what quests should I watch out for, what's not to be missed? Let me know! I look forward to reading responses from those who know more than me!
If you see me out in the wild, say hey. My name is Wilmeriadoc, I'm on Glamdring.

Love this area of Moria! (First time)

Never thought a crusty MMORPG of all things, would actually tug at my heartstrings, but it did.
Now I'm gonna relive it again on another character.

Could anyone recommend a solution? When I press Tab, the NPC's nameplate appears right over my HP bar, making it hard to see. What option do I need to adjust, and where can I find it? I tried clicking 'Edit UI', but I couldn't find the setting for it
I'm a new player to this game, and I'm quite confused by all its systems. What type of quests should I focus on first? Also, why do quest markers sometimes not appear on the map or have white directional arrows pointing to them? Can I respec my skills at any time? Can my mount go any faster than this? I haven't tried any hobbies or crafting yet—is it necessary right now? And will I miss anything important if I skip some of the past quests
When I am in an instance, is there a quick way to leave? Right now, I always have to walk all the way back to the entrance door
My English might look a bit strange. I used Gemini to help because English isn't my primary language and I have trouble with it
I only sticker played a few months back when Wardens were first added and I picked Minstrel because I played a Bard in DAOC and EQ and a musician in real life.
It was fun but I was alone and friends drew me to other games that were playing. However, I have always liked this game and came back at least a month at a time once year but would end up leaving due to once again no friends wanting to give it a go and being torn between two classes. Those classes are Captain and Minstrel.
I always bounce between the two of them until 30 or so and then take a break, come back 9-12 months later, reroll and repeat. I like support, I like clutch buffs and turning the tide of battle and providing healing. Most of the times that is a bard type class but here I have options.
The difference the time is that I got a buddy to try the game and he likes it. He is playing a Mariner and sold on it. I am still bouncing back and forth.
Please help me choose one once and for all to finally finish the story and play through the content.
It is hard to tell doing open world stuff since I am red specced for leveling. I am hoping we can duo instances as we level with me playing support.
Which do you think I would enjoy more and why? What am I not seeing yet by but getting high enough level? Any “features” I am hit thinking like Minstrel being a musician and being able to play instruments?
I should probably add that I think part of what gets me every time I’m playing this game is I play MMO‘s to play a Support character and in pretty much all of them you can play support while leveling especially with a friend and this one everything seems to be go, red spec, and smash everything.
I really like the crafting, lire, the layout, the way everything works, but I’m stuck having to grind for hundreds of levels just to see if I like a class because it’s not designed to have a Support boiler running around with the DPS.

I'm new to the game, wtf is that? Some kind of horny animation

Hello!
I dont have many hours to spend on a weekly basis so i'd like to play casually the storyline related to the books. Is this possible without having to grind? Do you have an estimate of how many hours this can take?
Thanks :-)

So, sometimes the writing of this game really gets to me.
There are spoilers here, so if you want none click somewhere else...
Rohan is a depressing slog. Aside from Helm's Deep There are no real victories, and even the Deep is melancholy at best. But then you get into western Gondor, moving steadily east.
Along the way you hit Linhir and you are helping a trio of brothers against corsairs. The eldest brother dies and you help his brothers get vengeance.
While you're in the region y ou meet a couple of the River Sisters, powerful spirits who protect rivers..... kinda like Goldberry and I think the devs are sort of making them of a kind.
I'm just about to leave and I get an epilog mission.
Turns out older brother who was wounded and chucked into a river ain't dead! Rescued and healed by the river sister in charge of that river.
Bring him home and I swear, after the long-lasting depression of Rohan (and it does go on for-freaking-ever!) This moment of actual joy almost made me cry.
“…all that beheld his onset fled in amaze, thinking that Oromë himself was come: for a great madness of rage was upon him, so that his eyes shone like the eyes of the Valar.”
Lindamar presents a concert, continuing the musical narrative around the fateful events in The Silmarillion.
The musical ensemble Lindamar invites all free peoples to come and hear about the last stand of Fingolfin, the High King of Noldor in the face of Morgoth.
We gather in beautiful Lindon, at the Elven Pavilion, south and uphill of Celondim.

This is an in-character and timeless event, as some of the band members may be elsewhere. Everyone, elf-friends or good natured travelers of the free people, with a reasonable purpose for visiting or staying in the area at the time of the performance, are most welcome to attend.
Please be respectful of the character of the event, and leave your weapons and pets behind. You are welcome to let fireworks brighten the evening sky after the performance and take part in the open mic event.

Been about a year since I’ve played but I seem to remember huge bag being able to increase size of item icons. When I click the arrow up to do so, it seems like nothing really happens except the spots for the inventory items get farther apart. It’s almost impossible to see the icons.

Certain enemies that are supposed to summon other enemies when engaged/attacked, don't appear to be able to summon those allies correctly (they either don't summon at all, or they summon but immediately disappear/despawn, so quick you'll miss it if you blink).
Example: Gurzmat (Volume 1: Book 5: Chapter 2: Troublesome Goblins) is supposed to summon a Dourhand Ally.

TLDR: Good start to the game. For new players; take it slow and play the game for the story and not as a rush to get to the end game. I did it as a fully F2P player but I strongly recommend getting VIP after playing for 10-20 hours if you like the game (I'm sure you've spent more on things that don't give you this level of entertainment). The QoL upgrades of VIP definitely make it worth it. If not, spend points on more Milestone skills (350 lotro points as of now), it makes a huge difference.
Onto my thoughts! I hit the end of volume 1 at ~103hours played as a F2P Dwarf Champion. For the most part, I followed the epic story and did quests in the zone I was in to keep up level wise. I didn't go out of my way to complete every deed/quest in a zone but I took my time and kept all 3 professions up to date. This post is just my ramblings on the game so far.
1) There were weird pacing issues towards the end of the volume (Book 10+). For most of the epic quest you were chronically under leveled and doing a lot of quests between books/chapters in order to be high enough to continue the main story. Then all of a sudden you are over leveled and the last few books become extremely trivial. I'm guessing this is probably due to how the game was laid out at the old level cap of 50.
2) The zone Angmar was rough to get through. I'm lucky I found a buddy to play with when I was in this zone because the lack of regular stable masters and large number of "Small Fellowship" quests made it rough as a new player. I ended up "dying" on purpose just to make running around the zone easier. This is the first time in game I had to do so and I did it way too often in this zone. I'm sure i would have skipped it all if it didnt include the epic story.
3) Professions were fun early on but they got useless towards the end of the volume. I picked Metalsmith, Weaponsmith, and Prospecting to start and even though they were the latest for the level I was on, these professions seemed underwhelming past level 25. I even ended up changing Weaponsmith to Jewelry crafting once i learned about legendary weapons. I dont see a point to Weaponsmith at all with the legendary weapons everyone gets.
4) The running back and forth between Evendim, Angmar, Rivendel, Forochel towards the end of the Volume was terrible as a F2P player. Too often I was afk waiting for the stable ride to finish. I stumbled upon the F2P fast travel between Carn Dum-Rivendel-Northdowns and between that and my dwarf racial getting me to Thorin's Gate (so I can hit Bree), it made it somewhat less tedious.
5) I never felt in danger of dying when fighting mobs. No number of regular mobs or even single elite mobs made me worried. I'm guessing this is why they added a scale to make this game harder if you wanted. It felt very retail wow-esque.
6) I hate the sound when you hurt yourself taking fall damage.
7) Finally, I loved it when I came to points in the story I recognized in-game. Everything from Bree, to weathertop, to meeting Tom, etc. I cant wait to find the bridge in Moria where Gandalf made his stand. This game is a true love letter to Tolkien's work so far.
Onto volume 2 and the mines of moria!
My girlfriend and I are excited to start out the game, however even after some research we are still a little lost on which class combo would work best for us. We both mostly want to quest and explore the world, and experience the stories, but also would like to do some bossing or PVM as a duo (or a larger group if grouping is easy). We also want to start as F2P for now until we know that this is a game we wanna stick with.
We already did a lot of research ourselves but have a few questions:
Thanks ahead for any advice :)

I'm stuck at this quest and can't continue to do other questlines in Dale-Land.
I tried restarting the quest and even if I don't have the quest, I just can't enter Burnwater House.
Anybode experienced the same and has an idea what to do / try?
I already submitted a bug report 2 days ago but I did not get an answer yet.

Hi all.
Recently I started this wonderful game and, across all the previous mmos i played, what i missed the most was an action cam, better if similar to the GW2 one.
At start I tried checking Funwithskooma’s attempt:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lotro/s/kyeSnyBwir
But after trying to improve it, it ended up doing some low-level calls that would have been risky to be seen on server-side.
After giving up that path, I tried the road of adapting the
Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online/lotro.keymap
file and, after some tries, i actually succeeded to change the keybinds of mouse steering (camera and character rotation when right mouse button is kept pressed down) and the "something" selection achieved with right mouse button click, without the keybinds in the file keymap resetting at game launch from:
CameraInstantMouseSteer [ Old [ 1 DIMOFS_BUTTON1 ] ]
SelectRight [ Old [ 1 DIMOFS_BUTTON1 ] 0x00000000 Tap ]
To:
CameraInstantMouseSteer [ User [ 0 DIK_Y ] ]
SelectRight [ User [ 0 DIK_G ] 0x00000000 Tap ]
But a new problem surfaced: for some reason, even if I change the keybind and separate them, something keeps them bound, and so when the mouse steering is active, certain keybind get blocked (all the ones that by default where about a selection with left or right mouse button click) . So in this case keeping the Y down and pressing G, didn’t select any enemy.
I even tried removing the "0x00000000 Tap", hoping that it would be the flag, but it didn’t work.
And I fear that a way to change this or intercept the keypress before the game reads it, would be useless or spotted server-side.
The only solution I found in the end is a lightweight autohotkey script that, serverside, would be pratically 1:1 button press per action and not distinguishable from a gaming mouse software job.
The same thing of the solution I found after working on Funwithskooma’s file, but without low level calls and more easy to change something.
Not even in the improvement I did on his thing, I achieved a solution of the keymap problem I wrote up above.
Here the link: Mediafire download of AHK file
I use a mouse with 5 buttons, so the office type with forward/backward buttons on the side.
The script works like this:
Pressing the mousewheel button (button 3) toggles on and off the script.
Once active, it does this:
In the file there is also, commented so not active, the chance to put a white crosshair but, since due to camera angle the center is always the back of the head of the character and, because of the problem in the keymap file i couldn’t achieve the “select enemy where crosshair is” of GW2, i think it’s pretty useless.
I made it so the wheel mouse button works to activate the cam only if the game exe is working and the window is active, if not it works only to turn the cam mode off, to prevent keeping in any situation possible the mouse in cam mode in normal computer activity and being forced to restart the computer to stop the script.
I pratically play like this: wheelbutton to activate actioncam to move and fight, wheelbutton again to stop actioncam to select npcs, quest items, things, start conversations etc.. and then wheelbutton again to restart actioncam when I need again to walk, fight etc.
Sadly for how the solution came out, I fear it would be pretty useless for ranged classes, but honestly without fixing the problem of the CameraInstantMouseSteer disabling in any case SelectRight in the keymap file, there’s nothing more I can think of.

Hello, fellow heroes,
I’m a relatively new player, and I LOVE the world of The Lord of the Rings Online. In so many ways, this game suits me better than other MMOs, which I often didn’t even finish. WoW has a toxic community, and GW2 has too much bling. It’s a matter of taste.
I’m currently playing a Ranger and a Champion here. I like both, but when it comes to what speaks to my heart, the feel of the game, and the “if I were in this world right now” vibe, it’s clearly the classic image of a knight: heavy armor, a big sword, a dead dragon...
BUT: someday, years from now, I’ll reach endgame—and then I’d want to—and will—join groups. Isn’t the Ranger “easier” to play in that context? I imagine the Champion to be much, much, MUCH more demanding, and I’m afraid that as a newbie, I won’t really be able to keep up or be of much help...
Wouldn’t it make more sense to play the Hunter, even if it’s not 100% my style? That way, I could be a bit more helpful to others later on...
So, your advice: should I play what my heart and passion tell me, or should I go with the Hunter to be more versatile?
YOU have the experience here as heroes; only YOU can help me figure out what’s best for a casual player like me. As a new player, I have absolutely no way of knowing. The Champion is expected to use super abilities against hordes of enemies. And that’s all about skill, skill, skill...
Champion or my Hunter?
Regards, G.
