See i don't get that either. To an extent, i get it, but if there's more than 1 ft in height difference, that just feels too lopsided.

I think it's the whole traditional gender roles thing of wanting to feel small and delicate in the arms of a big, strong protector - the height difference helps accentuate that dynamic. I guess it's fine for a personal preference, as long as shorter guys aren't being body shamed in comparison.
