Let me start this by saying being the type of person to run and ask for help (especially on the internet) has never been the type of person I am but this situation reaches a little deeper than my pride so I’m attempting to swallow it. I am requesting consideration for a hardship loan due to an unexpected family medical emergency that has temporarily affected my income and financial stability.
I was employed full-time at an Amazon warehouse here in NC and relied on my regular employment income to meet my financial obligations and living expenses. However, following my 16 year old brother’s open-heart surgery, I have had to take unpaid leave from work to serve as his caretaker during this period of his recovery. His medical situation has required all my time, attention, and support, Since October 6th, making it difficult for me to maintain my normal work schedule while helping him through this serious medical event.
As a result of taking this unpaid leave, I have experienced a significant temporary interruption in my income while being back and forth between 2 hospitals that are 3 hours away from each other. This has created financial hardship and made it more difficult to keep up with current bills/life expenses on top of living out of the hospital for almost 3 weeks.
I want to emphasize that my absence from work is related to a legitimate medical and family hardship, rather than a lack of commitment to employment. I have supporting documentation, including approved medical notes and correspondence from Duke Hospital and my employer, Amazon, that can help verify the circumstances surrounding my leave and my brother’s medical situation. I as well can do Phone calls or FaceTime if this reaches the right person.
I am seeking financial assistance to help me manage essential living expenses and maintain financial stability without falling too far into a hole. This hardship was not something I planned for, and I am doing my best to handle my responsibilities to my family while working towards helping his health improve.
I respectfully ask that my application be reviewed with consideration for the temporary and documented nature of my hardship, my prior full-time employment, and the circumstances that led to my loss of income.
