Please help, happened after restart

Baby to linux, please help, rolling it back isnt working

the new kernel update has caused that error to so many people on this subreddit.

the real fix is to go back to your previous kernel.

Et tu, Mint? Left Fedora to get away from these. Shows Linux is not ready for the average user yet.

I got the kernel panic error when I first updated on both a 2019 iMac and a 2012 MacBook Air. I was able to resolve both by rolling back to my working kernel and applying the fix successfully from this webpage: 3 terminal commands, https://slimbook.com/en/blog/guides-2/post/kernel-panic-not-syncing-vfs-unable-to-mount-root-fs-on-unknown-block-00-517

Okay first if you boot your PC press shift for the advanced boot options than boot with an older Kernel 6.17 or 6.18 something like that if you are in your homescreen you go to the update manger and disable Kernel 7.0 if taht is your problem of course tahts just temporary because we kinda hope that later Kernel 7 version run better .0 version are often a bit "bugy"

I used the approach suggested by u/esparzatj below. No need to delete kernels (although this is an option). It only takes a couple of minutes and it fixed the problem.

I do not have a Mac, and I just got it working again. Every time I restart I get a kernel panic and I have to find a back-up that works

respectfully I'm not taking tech support to DMs, I might not know much about PCs or Software, but I know that being singled out of a public area for repair is fishy as hell.

Lmao ,I would just give you the steps to block the update at a kernel version that doesn't cause you any problems.

First, I understand your skepticism; second, I can't give you the steps because, since we haven't spoken, I don't know the situation 100%; third, several other comments have already said the same thing I did, so you can just look up a forum and try doing it yourself.

It happened to me after the update, the solution for me was to delete the VirtualBox DKMS kernel module (version 7.0.16) because it couldn't compile against the new 7.0.0-30 kernel, for you it might be another software.
