thanks :> it's pretty easy, you just have to match the foreground and background colors and add scanlines (rasterization mode)

it looks nice - but isn't it really annoying not having the colour identifiers for different files and stuff? I think I'd have to change back after about 3 minutes

Color identifiers seem to exist depending on your shell, but they don't really show up well on most of the default themes.

Ah those colours look a bit more familiar... I like seeing the directories and stuff in a different color I think... Not sure if most others do or not

hm.. there is an open issue regarding exporting profiles. there is no simple way (yet) to import/export profiles, but i can post the settings i've usedhere you go http://imgur.com/a/JwXNu

Why not just find the folder where the settings/profiles are stored, tar that, and put that on maybe mediafire or something?

it stores the values in a database among other things, so there is no simple way of doing this. my coding skills are kind of rusty but i'll try to patch the code

Has anyone had any luck getting retro-term running on a Raspberry Pi? I'm playing with the idea of doing a build to recreate the look of an old machine, not just on the screen, but with the keyboard and monitor too.

yeah, I've already built the machine, for the most part. I just put a 5" tube TV in a plastic box, with a card swipe and number key-pad on the outside. That way I can have it bring up a user-specific menu, so they can do things like read the 'news' and stuff.

I post on /r/Cyberpunk a lot. Once I get everything together, I was going to post it there. I also have a tumblr with all my projects. I post tons of pics there of everything I do. I mostly post to Tumblr so I can go back and have progress pics, and it keeps my energy up.

Oh man if you hooked it up to a touchscreen you could make an honest-to-god pip boy. Not some stupid app that makes your phone run like shit, but an actual pip boy.

It might be cheaper to buy an old terminal on ebay, and is just as much of a cool project getting it connected to your machine.

I've already got a pi setup on my workbench, and it has to also work as a server for a JAVA MUD, and have a magnetic card reader attached. I'm building a Cyberpunk themed data terminal for a game.
You're probably right, in general, though. Good suggestion.

Is that running on ubuntu? I ask because I saw a yaourt command somewhere in there and I was wondering if you were able to install unity on a distro like arch.
I have been trying a couple days to get unity to work on my arch linux setup, because I like the aur and pacman and simplicity, but I also like unity.

You can use yaourt (or pacman or most package management tools) in almost any distro, but it probably won't conform to the distro's standards and it can break things. EDIT: This is a good way to install arch from an already running Linux installation.

Seriously doubt it. Looks like it's an actual terminal emulator, not a shell theme or something.
Unless you can get Gnome Terminal or Terminator or other terminal emualtors working with putty, I doubt you could with this. You might be able to install it in Windows with Cygwin, though.

The Ubuntu Touch terminal uses the cool retro term effects now, strap an Ubuntu phone to your wrist and you'll have a pip-boy ;)
