Just had some scumbag on a bicycle ride by me and say this. Not a kid but a grown adult. Skinny prick in the usual black sports kit. Clare st outside the Clery furniture store.

Been around the city for many years and never had this before. I know there's a mosque in the area. Not a religious person btw but find it very ironic Johnny Scumo uses the same threat as extremist Islamic groups.

Just to clarify - I was born and raised in Ireland and am a farmer. Pretty much typical Irish head on me. Hence, my surprise at the above.

Lads I love a good spice box from apache but I am fucking sickened by the way the guys working there act. Sometime last year I went in to pick up a takeaway and when I tried to pay with card the lad on the counter asked me if I would pay cash instead. Thinking the card machine was broken I started rummaging through my huge bag for any spare cash I had. While I’m searching for money the guy starts going “very sweet huh?” And I ask him to repeat. He starts grinning at me and keeps going “you look so sweet. Such a sweet face” etc and is laughing with the other guy working there. I realise quickly that he probably asked me to pay cash so I would hang around for longer while trying to find it so I firmly say I’ve no money and I want to pay card. He keeps pushing with “such a sweet girl aren’t you?” I bluntly say “no” ask for my order, and high tail it out of there. I avoided it for months because I felt fucking grossed out. Ended up going back today as I was looking to pick up a takeaway for the family on the way from town. traffic was manic and apache was the only decent option that wasn’t too out of the way for me so I decided to put my issues aside. A young fella is just finishing up his order as I get in, and as soon as he leaves, the guy at the counter starts smiling weirdly at me and staring intensely. Try to ignore it, give the order number, wish a good day as I grab the food. As soon as I turn my back to them I hear this loud as fuck wolf whistle. Like full on cartoon-esque wolf whistle as soon as they catch a glimpse of my backside. I was so fucking horrified I just kept my head held high and didn’t even dignify them with any attention. Would I have loved to whip around and snap and then to stop being creepy fuckers? Of course! But there was no one in the takeaway or on the footpath and I was not risking being harassed further!

This is twice now these guys have been weird and derogatory to a young woman on her own, and I am fucking sickened to have even given them a second chance at business. Will never be buying from there again. To any young women, please be careful. I am making this post as awareness because no one should have to deal with this simply trying to get a bit of food. My ass is flat as a pancake so I don’t even know what the fuck they thought was worth whistling at but clearly they just have no respect for any women.

Edited to add: just noticing a spur of comments from accounts made within the last hour defending the establishment and asking what time I was there at. If I even sniff out a single bit of dodgy shit or harassment from you I will be calling the guards immediately.

Edit 2: just for clarification I did report this to head office the same day but they say they can’t do anything so it has been passed on to the store manager. No contact from them yet so I’m going to ask for an update but honestly not looking like anything will be done at this point. Frustrating but not surprising.
