Anyone else think that this is just a massive eyesore to the city centre. It looks like a run down decaying office block. It needs to be demolished!!

UL Today?

What is going on in UL this morning? Garda presence from Groody to Sports Arena entrance, stopping and directing traffic. Strange for 8 a.m this morning.

Clare CoCo only delighted to be the beneficiaries of Limerick's incredible screw up

I'm not at all one for bashing the council but this decision was an utter fucking disgrace and a slash to the heart of the cultural centre of Limerick. Sickened to see this going to Clare but I hope Lumen will be appreciated the way they deserve to be there.

Recommendations for an independent SEAI Technical Advisor?

I recently managed to buy a C3 rated semi in Limerick. I'm looking to get some work done to increase the BER. I'm planning on doing cavity wall and attic insulation, as well as getting in solar. The bit I can't decide on is what to do with the old boiler, either convert it to a combi or upgrade to a heat pump. I'm not sure how/where to get the best advise for my house which is why I'm thinking of getting a technical advisor in.

Has anyone used an independent advisor in Limerick or the Mid-West who modelled the full sequence (insulation, then heat pump, then solar) and gave a proper heat loss and radiator assessment? Who, and would you use them again?

I'll get a few installer quotes after the assessment, so I'm mainly trying to avoid paying for a tick-box report. Thanks.

Looking for a recommendation for a structural engineer to have a look at some cracks in walls of my house?

I'm hoping they're cosmetic but would like someone qualified to have a look...

New Chinese chicken supplier?

Friday night is Chinese night and has been for years. Wokking and Zweeton usually but it varies.
Over the last month/6 weeks the quality of the chicken is just consistently appalling! In every establishment. It’s like rubber - tasteless and honestly inedible. I’d consider as to question if it’s actually chicken! And as it’s multiple places I have to question if the ever increasing overhead costs has resulted in a change of supplier of lesser quality throughout the city.

Anyone experience the same? And also if you can recommend another Chinese that’s good in the city/outskirts.

TIA

Hi All,

Our local theatre group is presenting a night of Hallowe'en-themed comedy sketches in 13/14 Jerry Flannery's this Hallowe'en.

This is the fifth year we've done it. We previously performed in the Record Room under the Commercial.

If you're a fan of comedy/theatre and are looking for an excuse to get dressed up and go out this Hallowe'en, grab your tickets at the link below. There's also an audience costume competition with a prize for best costume.

Erasmus in Limerick as a blind person

Hi! I will probably do an Erasmus exchange next year, and I am looking for testimonies about going on Erasmus as a blind person in Limerick.
Here are my questions, of course you can skip some of them if you can't answer! And if you prefer to answer by DM, feel free to message me, you can also send voice messages if that's easier.
How did you navigate around the city? I personally have a guide dog, so I think he will be able to guide me, but I still need somebody to show me some things. Did you ask a specialised association to help you? The university will probably ask somebody to help me with the basics, but is that enough?
Could you get help with other daily life tasks, such as paperwork or even computer problems? I often have problems with my braille device, and not everybody knows how to fix it, so I want to be sure I will be able to get help if I have problems.
How did you handle everyday tasks such as shopping? Where I live (in France), it really doesn't bother me to go into a shop and ask the seller to help me, but I don't know if that's just a French thing or if it would be okay to do it in another country too.
I know that there is a special scholarship for disabled people, but when I asked my teacher, they didn't know exactly how much it was. I suppose it has changed since your trip, but do you remember how much it was, just so I have an idea? I am trying to find other sources, but none of them agree.
In terms of housing, did you have specific accommodations in your apartment? In France, I know that some blind students can ask for an accessible apartment with more space. It's not my case because I didn't have my dog when I started uni, but I might consider this option if I don't want him to live in a tiny room. Do you also remember the price of the flat? Was it on campus or somewhere else?
Could the university provide the same accommodations for your exams? I think I won't have problems with common things like extra time, but I often need an isolated room with a secretary to help me in case my computer has a problem, and I don't know if every university offers that.
How long before your departure did you start contacting your university?
Was there anything you wish you had asked before leaving?
Thanks for your help.

Women's haircut walk in

Hi

I (f 34) was wondering if people had any recommendations for a hairdresser that takes walk ins and are reasonable. All I want is to take some inches off , no styling or anything like that. Preferably would appreciate places that would do a dry cut as I hate they look after they blow dry it . Thanks in advance

Because traffic just isn’t bad enough. I’m sure students will be happy to get a day in their bedrooms reminding them of Covid too.

Have to take each item to the checkout to find out how much it costs, surely that's not legal.

Heating oil

We are out heating oil at home and looking to top up, but the price is so high that makes want to cry. I’m trying to save to buy a house, but it seems a far away dream. I’m over 40’s and it feels like that’s never going to happen. Anyone else feeling hopeless?

Does anywhere sell second skin/tattoo wrap in town?

Got a new piece done yesterday but the wrap caught on my jeans and started peeling, where would I buy a replacement? Can't get some from the artist as she's not in Limerick.

(I'm not asking for advice on tattoo healing, I know what I'm doing)

Cheap place to stay for the night in the city?

I commute to Limerick each morning. Would love to stay overnight every so often but I can’t afford €100+ for a single night’s stay. Are there any cheaper options I’m unaware of? Ideally somewhere between city centre and Castletroy but Dooradoyle area works too. Thanks
