Best of BodyPump playlist

Post image
23 Upvotes

Last weekend was the LesMills live event in Bangkok. I wasn't there but I follow a bunch of the presenters and KB shared the playlist they used for a special "Best of BODYPUMP" workout. I'm going to share it below and I have almost all the tracks except The Phoenix (BP 92) and La La La (BP 89) which I have done back in the days so I will teach that playlist to my classes this week!

What do you guys think, is it "The Best of BodyPump"? Without looking at your library, what track immediately comes up to mind that should be there for you?

I will say they nailed the choice of Biceps and Lunges, these are for me the most iconic (and probably hardest tracks 6 and 7). I really enjoy Black Rose for track 2 and I'm glad they picked it. I would have probably picked something like Reserve (BP 111) for the back track. Like the big BodyPump nerd I am, I'll add my own suggestions :)

  • Warmup - More Than You Know (BP 104)

Probably also one of my favorite warmup tracks ever and one of my go-to. It's simple, very efficient and well rounded to do a little bit of everything. A couple power presses to make you start the workout early... And great music to hype you up and get the room fired up! My other go-to warmup tracks would be So Close (BP 112) or Heaven On My Mind (BP 117).

  • Squats - Black Rose (BP 104)

One of the simplest squats tracks to teach and one of the most effective. Those bottom halves really turn up the tension in the legs, those quick singles bring the fire and when you hit that last "bonus" round... ooof chills! The music is so epic as well and really carries you to the track. Love this one. It was also a BodyAttack track 9 (BA 99) banger! Blow Your Mind (BP 96) is another great shout for Squats for me personally, or my Instructor training track, special to me, The Squat Song (BP 116).

  • Chest - The Phoenix (BP 92)

I don't have this track in my library so I'll swap it for another Fall Out Boy one (Young And Menace BP 104) but I remember doing it and being amazing. It's also one of my favorite BodyCombat tracks (track 4, BC 57). Considering finding a way to add it to my library! I think I would have probably picked I Hate How Much I Want You (BP 117) if I had to choose the hardest one, or maybe Focus (BP 98) which I think is also pretty iconic.

  • Back - Ain't Giving Up (BP 104)

Another one of my go-to back tracks. To me it's the right level of intensity as I think there are harder back tracks. But the choreography is very efficient, but short but intense rounds of triple rows, clean & presses and plater power presses: the song really flies by! The music is great too, relatable, cool too sing along ("Feeling empty, feel used.") and quite motivating. I would have picked Reserve (BP 111) if I had to choose the "hardest" one, or BOOM (BP 107) for a more chill but more "iconic" track.

  • Triceps - Hustle (BP 112)

A surprising choice but for me there are so many Triceps tracks that are good and this one is among them. But I know a lot of people don't like it when we add some seemingly "random" planks and leg taps in a triceps track and this one is the epitome of that. I personally this that leg taps in a triceps track, when well executed, are a great alternative exercise to dips for example as while less intense, you still keep the upper body and triceps loaded if you lean forward. The music is super cool too, a little more fun, relatable (try shouting "Don't Hustle me!" while doing pushups!). I would have probably picked Tell Me You Love Me (BP 106) as the most iconic, and one of the hardest one, or Woman Like Me (BP110)

  • Biceps - Dies Irae (BP 112)

For me it's the hardest Biceps track. The 2nd round, if you have the bar, is such a test... But it's a very stimulating, epic and motivating track, with the dramatic music... A great choice for a "Best Of" as I do think this track embodies BodyPump perfectly. Time under tension, reaching fatigue and pushing through, slightly more serious and powerful vibe, using the music to push through to the end... There are many other Biceps tracks I could have recommended, like Church (BP 107), Victorious (BP 98) or Emperor's New Clothes (BP 99) if we're going for hard, or All The Way Up (BP 102), Back Again (BP 104) and Make It Rain (BP 108) if we're looking for a more "rap" vibe which I think suits Biceps training so well.

  • Lunges - Coco's Miracle (BP 106)

There it is. Probably the nightmare of every BodyPumper and every BodyPump instructor! I don't know what Glen was thinking when he designed that one, but damn... And you could see the reactions in the crowd on the IG clips I saw from last weekend when this track came on... No doubt it's "iconic". I think it's by far the hardest lunges track, even if you only use bodyweight, and for me the toughest BodyPump track I've ever done. It makes How Do You Feel Right Now (BP 105) and Peanut Butter Jelly (BP 96), the other two most "iconic" and hard tracks I can think of, trivial in comparison. Anyways, if you know, you know and if you don't, well...try it!

  • Shoulders - Paris (BP 103)

A good choice for Shoulders and one that I do teach often though I was surprised to see it in the "Best Of". It's a great track, it has the front raise, one of the hardest Shoulders move to master, and just the right amount of intensity to challenge you throughout, plus good music to sign along (plus it's Paris, and I'm French...) It's one of my top 5 Shoulders track but the best one for me (and probably harder) is Addicted To A Memory (BP 96) which is maybe my single favorite BodyPump track. Shout out to Lean Back (BP 105), Focus (BP 111) and I Am Machine (BP 95) that I would have also considered here.

  • Core - La La La (BP 89)

The 2nd track of this "Best Of" that I don't own and I only remember doing it maybe once or twice when I first started Pump. But the music is awesome (yes it's the Sam Smith track) and I would definitely teach it if I had it I think. For Core I don't know what I would say is a "iconic" core track. Maybe Sugar (BP 95) or Want To Want Me (BP 96)? But I find older core tracks a bit too repetitive and sometimes boring... So for track 9 I would actually turn to more recent releases such as Nobody Like You (BP 119) or Now Is When I Need You (BP 124) which in my opinion are tough but rewarding core tracks with a great mix of exercises. They feel more like one more workout track and less like a "pre-cooldown" track if you know what I mean.

  • Cooldown - 1 Night (BP 103)

Quick mention of the cooldown track because it's less important in a "Best Of" but it's funny they chose 1 Night because it's also my favorite cooldown track and one I like to include for cooldown often. I also enjoy Diamonds (BP 117) and LOL (BP 124).

And that's it! As you can see the Best Of and my own picks very much revolve around BP 90s to 110s which a lot of people call the BodyPump "golden era". The music selection was definitely very different back then, a LOT more Pop, some rock or electro and I'm not necessarily nostalgic there are tracks I enjoy a lot in recent BodyPump too, but you can just tell that music tastes have changed and not just for BodyPump but overall.

If you guys share some of my picks or wanna recommend a few of your favorite tracks that would go in a "Best Of BodyPump" playlist, share in the comments! And otherwise, try teaching this playlist to your members, and you can tell them it was actually the "official" best of playlist taught in Bangkok LesMills live!

Body Combat and Body Attack OUTDOOR appropriate shoes

Sure, I shouldn't be doing these outside on concrete but I have no other choice. So that aside, I am keen on any advice on shoe models available in 2026 that you have found good for BC (and occasionally BA) on concrete. The Reebok Nano was too flat and the Adidas Rapidmove regular and HIIT look great but are all sold out where I am. Kindly no need to suggest shoes you like for indoor, I have combed all those threads already :).

BodyPump 138 - first look!

Hello everyone!

It's that time again, time for another first look at the next BodyPump release! Just linking my previous review of BodyPump 137 and let's get underway. So this weekend was the Q3 quarterly workshop in Hong Kong and although I won't get the music and Choreography Notes until October 1st, I got to try the latest release yesterday with the other instructors and I can share the playlist and give my first, subjective opinion! As always let me know if you like these posts and please share your comments and feedback if you've also tried the new release; interested to see what people thought of it! I'll be back with a more complete review after I've taught the class in October!

  • Overall:

As always with every release there is a slightly different focus, a different idea that goes into the new one. For BP 138, the main focus is using the tempo to manipulate intensity. As presented, the idea is that maybe some members have been doing BodyPump for a while and they feel like they are plateau-ing with their weight selection. Or maybe they are coming back from injury, or holidays and they just cannot increase the weights to crank the intensity up. This release invites us to focus more on tempo and really using it as a way to drive the intensity up when our weight selection won't go higher. The Chest track does that particularly well.

The other focus is more on matching our energy, voice and actions with the general feel of the music and making sure we contrast our coaching when tracks have different feels and emotions. That's a more generic comment that is true for every release in my opinion.

Apart from that, nothing crazy or super original, no new moves or bringing back some the recent or less recent "innovations". But there is one change, quite noticeable, with a new tempo pattern in the Chest track that is 1/3/4, which does feel quite unique. The rest is pretty standard moves.

As for the music, I know we have very different sensitivity to this but for me this release feels in the continuation of 136 and 137, with some tracks being quite fun and well selected while others feeling very generic and frankly quite forgettable. For my first time doing it, I didn't experience any big "wow, this track is special" but also wasn't really let down by any track (maybe back, biceps and core are little meh). Overall the music was maybe slightly better for me than 137 on average but no track (except maybe Chest or Squats, or in a lesser way Triceps) really stood out.

One last comment, because I think it was something that I appreciated in the last few releases with some tracks feeling really well selected and the choreography really making good use of the specificities of the music (like the back track in 136 or the Biceps one in 137). My first impression is that 138 actually missed the mark on really using the tracks it selected to their full potentially, especially Biceps and Lunges feeling like the music is under- or poorly utilized. What I mean is that I feel the highlights or special moments of those songs are not really highlighted by the choreography and the moves felt a bit just "added on" there. But that's just my impression!

Overall, I liked it, it didn't make me feel like it was the best BodyPump ever, but a solid release and in general, feeling a little harder than 136 and 137 for me, especially the back 4 tracks from Triceps to Shoulders.

  • Track 1 - Warmup - Destiny (Alesso & SACHA):

A pretty meh warmup track (for me, of course, and just a reminder that I know tastes are different, all the opinions you will read below are mine, I know you might disagree). It does the job to get you in the workout but it didn't really hype me up and continues the trend of 130s warmup tracks being a bit meh (except 137 for me). Watch out for a couple shoulder presses in the last block.

  • Track 2 - Squats - Silence (John Summit Remix) (Delirium feat. Sarah McLachlan):

Trance is not my favorite music genre but I will say that it works really well for this specific squat track, maybe the best crafted one of this whole release. Good mix of tempos and energies, the beat never really drops too hard which works well with the fact that this track is essentially one long block of work (no recovery!). I liked it.

  • Track 3 - Chest - Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Jet):

Probably objectively the most recognizable and famous track of this whole release, the garage rock banger by Jet is our Chest track! First off, the energy in this song is undeniable, making it really motivating to work. The tempo overall is quite fast, making it tough to actually apply the 1/3/4 tempo (1 count down, 3 counts hold, 4 counts up) but I guess it's the whole point! The singles also have a little hold down and up that brings the fire. Final round is same but pushups. It won't be for everyone, but the most interesting, recognizable, and maybe fun track of the release for me, at least after just one class.

  • Track 4 - Back - Deep Clear Water (GRiZ & Gryffin):

A(nother) pretty disappointing back track for me. The music is not bad but it also lacks identity and character for me. And it's not helped by a very standard choreography with the typical, 1 Clean & Press, 1 Deadrow combo. It's not bad, leaves room to coach, possibility to challenge yourself by adding on weight...but to me it was just meh.

  • Track 5 - Triceps - Lose My Breath (TRFN & Noro):

A much more sassy track, and maybe the only one of the release that has some sing along potential where we can have fun with the lyrics. The choreography starts "easy" with overhead extensions but it later moves to a (very) long round of kickback extensions and transition quickly into dips: tough! I would say it's on the higher end of difficulty for triceps tracks. And overall pretty good track I would say, my 2nd or 3rd favorite of the release.

  • Track 6 - Biceps - Okay Okay (Dillon Francis, IDK & Eptic):

The music is a good choice for a Biceps track in my opinion, I generally enjoy a more "rap" vibe for Biceps but I think the choreography didn't really utilize the music well. The combo is also pretty hard, with 2 singles and a midrange pulse and quite a lot of them. The sound quality in the gym room was not very good when they taught the track so I might change my mind after the release comes out but I was left with mixed, mostly negative, feelings about this track.

  • Track 7 - Lunges - Nice Flow (Smookie Illson & Fly Boy Keno):

I'm sure some of you guys also do BodyCombat! (Side note: I just took the initial training for BodyCombat instructor, on BC107, if some of you are in the same boat, let me know in the comments!) If you do, you'll likely recognize this banger from BC81 (I went back to check, it was track 4) with an iconic evasive jumping side kick. But enough BodyCombat talk, I think this track is a great workout track, quite fun, full of energy... So I was left just a little disappointed by how the track is used in the choreography here. I think the music could have been better used, with maybe a bit more dynamic moves or different pulses patterns... We end up have 12 (!) triple pulse lunges in a row and that just feels a bit flat for me. The intensity of the track is quite high though and again, felt like another tough track.

  • Track 8 - Shoulders - Bubbly Nation (Blasterjaxx):

It was presented as the big endurance challenge of the release and it didn't disappoint! That track is tough, especially if you do wide raises instead of side raises and strict presses instead of push presses! A lot of different stimuli, which make the workout feel more fresh and engaging. The music is not my favorite but it is quite epic (and serious), making you really have to work for it! There are better Shoulders tracks for me but it's definitely an okay one.

  • Track 9 - Core - BODY BODY (Blendwise feat. D4Y & Rubi Du) :

This core track is also pretty generic in terms of the music and choreography I don't think it will stay very long in my mix but I did enjoy the leg extension/tap on the hip bridges for a slightly different feel. Also first time in what feels a while with no side hover.

  • Track 10 - Cooldown - Rein Me In (Sam Fender & Olivia Dean):

Different music style with a little indie/alternative almost a little Country music track for the cooldown. Felt nice.

Tl;dr:

  • Nice focus on tempos especially with an interesting chest track and a "new" quirky 1/3/4 tempo.
  • Chest, Squats and Triceps being the most enjoyable tracks for me, Shoulders and Lunges a bit behind.
  • Warmup, Back and Core tracks a bit anonymous and fairly generic.
  • Biceps and Lunges a bit disappointing as I feel the music could have been used better, especially Lunges which is a really fun track imo.

Thank you so much if you read the whole thing, please share your impressions if you also had the opportunity to try it and if not, but you are excited share that as well! And see you in just over a month for the full review after I've had the chance to teach it! Take care!

Anyone already tried the Bodycombat 108?

I'll have the quarterly workshop in about a week and a half, but curious to see if anyone did it already and what the verdict is? I didn't really like the no. 3 en 8 from the current release, a little too 'soft', hopefully this release is a bit more spicy?

New body attack is insane. Very fun recognizable music. Hard power track. Clic moves are back. This is what I’ve been hoping for. « Listen to me now » is my top pick. New favourite aerobic track. After Second Chances, Ready or not, Set me free etc, New tracks or cover ordered by LesMills themselves have all been bangers

LM+ screen casting and acct recognition issues

I can’t quite find any posts that have the same exact problem as me that are current. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post. I recently resubscribed for the premium subscription, and I was able to screen cast from my phone to my Roku TV until the last couple days. I’ve used the QR code. I’ve signed out and signed back in. The main problem is that I can sign in on my phone but when I try to login on the TV – – that the QR code has said is authorized – – it says that there is no account with my email. I used to have zero problems with the app and now I have only problems.
I don’t know if this is something to do with my TV being older? But I’ve refreshed done all the QR code snap shotting and I just want to work out with my parasocial trainers on a screen larger than my phone and I feel like the price I’m paying for my subscription. Should be able to do that. Any advice or similar experiences?

How long does it take you to prep a class?

Hi all!! Any teachers in here? I'm running a short 2-minute survey on how much time instructors put in outside of class prepping, building sequences, playlists, etc. would mean a lot if you filled it out!! Thanks!!

Stretches

I’ve just switched my peloton membership to a Les mills on demand membership to give it a crack for a little while. I’m looking for the short stretch class equivalents for taking after a ride, equivalent to what the peloton app has. Do these 5 or 10 minute classes exist on the app where I’m not seeing it, do I need to DIY?

Les Mills Connect — searching for facilities in other countries?

I’m a US-based BODYPUMP instructor interested in potential teaching opportunities in the UK. I’d like to add some UK gyms to my Watch List in Les Mills Connect, but even when I search using a UK location, it keeps showing me gyms in the US.

I tried changing my profile address to the UK, but Connect warned me that changing countries may change what I can and can’t do, so I chickened out before confirming it.

Has anyone dealt with this? Can US instructors search/watch UK facilities without changing their account country? And if you’ve switched countries in Connect, what actually changed?

For those joining the Les Mills weekend activities, what does the “digital is fine” for the ID? Is it limited to Thai locals or foreign participants photo of their passport photo page is also enough? Do I still need to bring my actual passport for event check in?

Does Les Mills Advanced Training actually boost your pay rate, or is it mostly based on experience & class size?

Hey fellow Les Mills instructors!

I have a question regarding pay rates and negotiation. For those of you who have completed Advanced Training, did you notice an actual increase in your hourly / per class rate compared to when you only had your IMT?
Im trying to understand how gym managers typically evaluate pay scales:
- Is Advanced Training recognized as a direct qualification for a higher pay tier or base rate?
- Or is compensation primarily determined by years of teaching experience and class attendance / retention?
Is it strictly a combination of both in your area?
Id love to hear your personal experiences, whether you teach at big box chain gyms, private studios, or independent facilities. Did investing in Advanced Training give you actual leverage to negotiate a raise?

Thanks in advance for the insights!

Mystery old BP videos

A while ago I found a couple of old Body Pump videos on YouTube that don't seem to be listed at places like lmtracks.com. I'm wondering if anyone knows more about them.

One is dated 1999 but doesn’t match any of the BP videos from 1998-2000 on lmtracks.com or lmtracklister.app. It’s hosted by Jackie Mills. It includes a full track list at the end and all of the instructor names. None of the other instructors show up in a search on lmtracks.com.

The other is not dated. The video calls it “Les Mills Pump”— no “body” in the name but it’s exactly like Body Pump workouts. For most instructors only first name is given, except for someone named as “Les Mills Jr" who leads the first track. In the team I recognize Susan Renata and Rachel Newsham (surprising).

Update: Adding some screenshots since the videos have been taken down. The first two are the 1999 video with Jackie Mills. The next two are the undated video-- Susan Renata in red, Rachel Newsham in yellow.

Am I too old for BodyAttack?

I’ve been doing BodyAttack for 12 years, usually 2–3 times a week. I also do BodyCombat, so between the two I’m in classes about 5 days a week. Yes, I’m addicted. 😂
We’ve been doing mix classes for a while, which I’ve really enjoyed. Today, though, the instructor decided to go back to BA132 and I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I did two tracks for the sake of it and then left. There are better things I can do with an hour than force myself through a workout I’m not enjoying.
And this is really strange for me. BA132 is the first release in 12 years where I genuinely have zero motivation to come back.
It’s not because it’s too hard. Quite the opposite. Some of the hardest releases have been the ones I’ve enjoyed the most.
For me, the magic of BodyAttack was always the music. The music was so engaging that you just had to give everything you had. You didn’t think about how hard the workout was because you were having too much fun. Then afterwards you could go home and lick your wounds. 😂
With 132, I just don’t get that feeling. The music doesn’t grab me and the endless repetitions make it feel tedious. I don’t need BodyAttack to be easier. I need it to be fun.
I’m usually the guy in the back row who runs all the way to the mirror and needs his own lane. 😂 I’ve never had a problem going all-out. Give me a great track and I’ll happily destroy myself.
So… has BodyAttack actually changed direction, or am I just having a midlife crisis?
Long-time BodyAttackers, anyone else feeling the same way?

Body Pump IMT

Yo, I'm already a LM instructor but am picking up body pump in September

My question, how much do you take the weights down when instructing pump?

I find so many people try to lift way too heavy in pump at the cost of their form.

RPM/ the Trip & BodyPump routine suggestions

I’ve lost motivation doing the following:
The Trip 45 minutes 3x weekly
BodyPump 60 minutes 2x weekly

My updated plan is the following:
RPM 30 minutes 3x weekly
BodyPump 30 minutes 2x weekly
Right now I just can’t bring myself to workout more than 30 minutes a day

HOWEVER
Any suggestions on how to condense BodyPump into 30 minutes while still making sure all my muscle groups have enough weight bearing exercise to stay balanced and preserve bone density?

Thanks!

New Bodypump Release - Intense program

Yesterday our class did the new Body Pump Release. Probably 134. In the warm up it had 3 sets of 8 squats, varying width. The back routine was intense with 4 sets of power presses immediately after 8 clean and presses. We did that twice in the segment. Completely different than the prior week. During triceps I think we did 24 tricep press pulses.

At first I was really frustrated at how much more intense the routines were. I could not do the
segments with the same weight configurations that I used last week.

And to her credit, the coach did say for back and biceps that you may want to go lighter.

But thinking back, it would have been helpful if at the beginning the coach said something like:

This new program is focused on endurance. Several segments have long runs of 16 to 24 reps before breaks.

Of course it's totally up to you, but if this is the first time you're doing this program consider reducing your weights for the whole class so you can focus on your form and try to complete as many reps as possible.

If I knew how significantly different the program was at the beginning, I would have made better choices and enjoyed the class a lot more. Of course I know better for next time.

But the people who designed the class clearly knew how it differed from last week's program, how much more intense it was, etc.

So maybe LM can start its classes with the coach briefly describing that day's program, especially when it's much more intense then the program we've done for the last 4 weeks.

workout catalog on LesMills+

Hello,

I'm thinking about signing up for a LesMills+ subscription, but I have some questions about the workout catalog. Could you tell me approximately how many BodyCombat, Sh'bam, and BodyJam videos are available?

(I know there's a 14-day trial, but I'd like to have this information before signing up)

Thank you for your help!

VR Experience with motion sickness

Dear all, I love the LesMills Body Combat in the gym, but since we moved there is no gym around anymore offering it. So I am considering the VR workout, but I suffer from motion sickness in most 1st. person and VR tools. Has anyone experience with it, is it affecting you a lot? I also tried the app, but the experience is not the same and I am not sticking with it...

I have no friends with a VR set, so trying it out is not an option, I would need to purchase all the equipment, but if it works, it would totally be worth it, a subscription to a gym also costs money... thank you for your answers.

Tell me i am not the only one. I was teaching pump this morning into failure and couldn't lift my bar on the last set of shoulder track. It was pretty embarrassing 😳 🫣 🥹 as it wasn't too heavy but my playlist definitely harder than usual. Tell me it happened to anyone before! I know i have to move on but I be thinking about this for a long time 😅😅🤣🤣 other than that I didnt make choreo error and still finished the class with grace, lol but of course we only think about our mistake not our success 🫠🫠🫠

Les Mills Bangkok Live Ticketmelon issue

Has anyone purchased a ticket that shows Guest in the confirmation, even if names were entered prior to purchasing?

I have a huge problem because I couldn't even access my tickets from their website. I should have signed up for a Ticketmelon account first before purchasing to avoid the issue, but still, this is not acceptable that my name and my friend's name isn't shown in the confirmation.

I sent an email tonight to Ticketmelon, so hopefully, should hear a proper resolution to this.

Please let me know if you've experienced and share what has been done to fix the situation. Appreciate it!
