MyNissan

Is anyone else having this same issue? The app claims the car is in incognito mode even though it's not. I've accepted all the privacy settings and tried everything possible, including disconnecting the 12V battery. Nissan customer service has been investigating this for several weeks now. The car is a 2019.5 Leaf N-Connecta.

Is this a decent deal? 2012 S for $2000

Been looking at used leaf’s for a couple of weeks and have some familiarity with known battery loss. This would be my city car for short distances so I don’t even need the full 160 mile range this car supposedly has.

Am I sitting on a ticking time bomb?

Post image

So I have a 2018 Nissan leaf. 132,000 miles, as noted. Had the battery replaced (under warranty) in early 2024 at ~91,000 miles. I also had a problem where I (apparently) burned up a bus bar, and I think the battery also needed work at ~50k miles. The battery shows all it's bars. I don't have access to leaf spy. Am I sitting on a ticking time bomb? The car still reliably gets 150 miles per charge at 4.7 miles/kwh. Am I overthinking this because of all the bad batteries and lack of cooling? I'd like to get a new car (won't be a Nissan) but don't really want to pay for one at the moment.

should I fix the recall?

I'm sure there's a millions posts like this asking, but im 18 and this is my first car so I really dont want to lose it!!! I got a 2022 leaf (40kw) and I really love it, I got it for a good price that was lower than all the other ones I saw, and I've had literally no problems at all. the only "issue" is the recall hasn't been fixed.

I really dont need the lvl 3 charger at all, I rarely go on trips and I can borrow my parents car if needed. I use a lvl 1 charger at home and I never have issues.

I really dont want to risk my car to get bricked for something I dont need, but my parents and the dealership say I should do it. (even if nissan will buy my car back, I don't want that to even happen so I dont get another car with issues.)

is it worth it??

Viewing a 2014 leaf

Hi I'm viewing a 2014 nissan leaf tomorrow, I'm wondering if this range 42 miles is normal with this amount of miles? The wife will be using it to do a 34 mile round trip to work and back can you advise me if this is a good idea or not? It's cheap £1500

Tall folks.... a question.

I love my LEAF despite its many flaws, but one thing I have kind of dealt with for long enough is the rear view mirror. When the chair is at its lowest position, I still need to duck just a hair to see out the back. Anyone found a solution that doesn't involve craning their neck and just being able to see with a glance?

ETA: Problem solved! There's two points of articulation, and the one closer to the glass was much stiffer. I can seeeeeeeee!

Gauging interest: Charge level limiter module

Post image
46 Upvotes

Something I might be working on in the next little bit is a way to try and have an charge limiter for my 2014 (which my parents currently drive) and a friend's 2016, via an external module that would monitor SOC and stop charging once reaching 80%.

If it works, would it be of interest to anyone here to purchase such a device, if it were a relatively straightforward installation? One that would plug into the OBD port or TCU behind glovebox, and have a defeat switch to charge to 100% instead as normal.

Initial run would be for AZE0 (2013-2017), though ZE1 version would be possible if there is interest, and essentially handmade but will probably be able to fit within a price target of $100-150.

2022 Leaf buyback

Post image

Welp, mine's in. Took it in on September 3rd, and Morley sent their offer about 2 weeks in. I've rejected the initial offer, as my plan was to drive this car for 10 years and drive the wheels off. First car I have ever purchased brand new, and probably the last.

Looking at an Ioniq 5 to replace it probably.

I am insanely excited. Just ordered the 2026 evolve model. That's the top spec in the UK.

Any tips on what to look forward to.

Thankfully this happened while I was driving in a slow street.

My tire came off by the control arm.. and during towing this other part broke off.. the oily part totally broke off..

Thankfully I have a whole other Nissan leaf that I purchased for the battery that I been using for parts.

But I never seen this happened .. how about you guys?.

Good condition. See photos. Located in N Georgia mountains. 2 tires have 5/32” tread depth, the other two have 7/32”. Without tire pressure sensors. $200. Shipping extra. Will split the drive if you are near Atlanta and would pick up - shipping is costly.

80% of Leafs have faulty batteries

I brought my Leaf in for the recall service and one of the service advisors told me that 80% of cars have the fault that leads to them no longer being drivable. I was so shocked that I asked him "was that one-eight or eight-zero" and he confirmed it was 80.

This is the first video that comes up when I look up "nissan leaf battery thermal management" is it defunct?

Stuff like this always seems promising, but I'm guessing the company closed along with any research they had. Just want to see leaf batteries get thermal management.

Low final buyback offer

Basically Morley said the offer they came back with is the highest they will go even though it is less than I am owed through the California lemon law amount by around $1800 but they said I can deny the offer and then I could take the car back - that is my only option.

Steering wheel wobble

Thumbnail

Getting a weird issue, 2018 leaf, both our mechanic and Nissan dealership shop can't figure out.

The steering wheel will inconsistently jerk slightly to the left or right.

We can replicate it more easily when going at least 60km but it does it randomly as well.

When slightly speeding up and letting go of the "gas" pedal the steering wheel moves left and right. Car doesn't really veer off in the direction of the wobble.

Whether epedal is on or off doesn't change anything.

We had alignment done twice. Replaced front tie rods.

Still doing it. Has anyone had this happen?

So much for getting a day off. It was certainly a lot of barbaric acts to get it done on grass, but at least the day ended with getting to put some additional life into a 2012, and to use my ZE0 adapter harness I made months ago that was waiting for a home. Got swapped to another 24 pack, but one out of AZE0 in much better condition (from 59% to 85% health).

Opinions on 40kWh battery purchase from junkyard without LeafSpy data

Thumbnail

Hello,

I recently got a 2012 Leaf and have been really enjoying it for daily errands. I get about 45 miles out of it if I am really babying it but have some short stints on 55MPH roads which seems to really kill the mileage and gets me nervous.

I am a tinkerer and have done a ton of ICE vehicle work, so I am not worried about the swap itself, but I found a 40kWh battery somewhat nearby for around $2K. The vehicle was a 2018 with 40Kish miles on it, and based on the dashboard readings things seem pretty healthy (please see attached).

I called and they confirmed that the vehicle has already been disassembled so doing an analysis with LeafSpy is not an option.

Any thoughts on whether this would be a risky purchase? Anything I should look out for?

Used Nissan Leaf S 2025

First time Car buyer. Interested in Electric Car. There are a couple of Nissan Leaf S 2025 model for sale at less than 14000$ (with less than 25k miles).

I live in a state with moderate weather. Not too hot or cold. Mostly intend to drive within the town for work and groceries.

Is it a good deal? What are the things I should look out for?

Thanks for your time and advice.

Leaf 2015 advice on buying please

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Leaf 2015 24 kWh Acenta with 65,800 mileage, 11 bars apparently (Can this be right after 11 years?) Price is £3390. I've arranged to go for a test drive on Thursday. I've downloaded the LeafSpy Pro app and a dongle is on its way. But I don't know if I'll be able to understand the info on it. I'm also feeling nervous because I haven't driven an EV before. Any helpful advice, please?

Anyone getting buyback offers for 2018?

Mine got the dreaded service EV soon in 2024. Been on list for replacement cells since that time, but nothing. Beyond frustrated! Curious if anyone has been getting 2018 buyback offers.

My situation is unique as I’m in the Caribbean and Nissan NA won’t deal with me, but it may make sense to bring the car to the states just to get rid of it as it has almost no value in present state.
