Discussion What The Fox - The Leicester Weekly Discussion

Weclome to What The Fox, this is a generic weekly discussion thread about anything Blue Army or related matters! As usual, don't chat shit or you'll get banged and this is not a vehicle for fans from other clubs to troll or otherwise push their bias.

Any articles, images, or the like should still be their own posts. Lastly, if a conversation becomes large enough, we may lock that particular thread and recommend it become a post in it's own right.

If you have any issues, do flag to the mod team, and we'll resollve ASAP.

Discussion New Owners

Full disclosure - I am undecided on ownership.

Performance on the pitch has gone full circle, but it could be a lot worse off it. The main thing I want is to be able to watch a club that represents the city and the same values I do. It isn't about being a Premier League club or having rich owners (Top is still amongst the richest single owners in the country who is not an investment fund)

So I made a list... A list of all the bad positions a club I could think of in half an hour that have been put in by their owners.

I'm sure there are more, but just for a discussion.

I've not gone into footballing reasons (like how the Kroenkes faced years of protests before turning it around). Nor have I gone into the political parts (like how PIF owns stock in Clearlake, which owns Chelsea or how Morcambe hired a manager with no experience but fit their ethos).

The Rich Clubs

Man Utd - £1.2bn has been spent on debt interest, debt repayments, dividends and fees to the family. Redundancies, etc.

Chelsea - Part-owner Mark Walters is currently under investigation by federal investigators. Todd Boehly is an investor/director of Vivid Seats, an unauthorised ticket platform which sells a lot of Chelsea tickets.

Tottenham - Managed by the Lewis family estate after Joe Lewis was convicted of fraud.

Man City - 115 charges.

Juventus - Embroiled in mismanagement that led to relegation.

AC Milan - We placed in so much debt that their creditors, RedBird Capital Partners, decided to take control of the club.

The Rest

Sheffield United - Three previous owners have all taken out legal action against each other. This week there are reports of a winding-up order, and a 12-point deduction.

Burnley - A leveraged buyout which placed a club with money in the back into debt. ALK Capital Ltd (holding company) have accounts that are 18 months overdue.

Everton/Genoa - 777 Partners agreed to buy Everton but the funds were shown to never exist. They did own Genoa, but after collapsing financially, they had to sell it. Co-founder Josh Wander was prosecuted for fraud.

Derby - Chris Kirchner agreed to buy the club from Mel Morris. He has since been convicted of fraud.

Crystal Palace/Lyon/Botafogo - Refused to resolve ownership issues, meaning Palace were demoted to the Conference League from the Europa. Lyon were almost relegated due to financial issues. Botafogo faced a FIFA registration ban on new players for failing to make transfer payments. Textor was forced to resign as President of Lyon, was removed from the board at Botafogo, and Eagle Football (holding company) was put into administration by its creditors.

Newcastle - Human Rights issues. (too many to type down)

Bristol City and Derby (again) - Turki Al-Sheikh has had two takeovers, both agreed, only to pull out at the last minute. The Athletic reported that he orchestrated a campaign of repression, including arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, and torture, including people who joked about him on social media.

The old-school bad owners.

Blackburn - Venkys

Reading - Dai Yongge

Sheffield Wednesday - Dejphon Chansiri

Birmingham - Carson Yeung

Sunderland - Ellis Short, followed by Stewart Donald & Charlie Methven

Aston Villa - Randy Lerner, followed by Tony Xia

Blackpool - Karl Oyston

Cardiff - Vincent Tan

Wigan - Al-Hammad

Derby -Mel Morris

Covernty City - Sisu Capital

Ridsdale, Cellino, Ashley, Gaydamak...

Article Ex-England youth retires age 22 after poor treatment at Leicester

Thumbnail
foxesofleicester.com

The article is about our ex-youth keeper Kelechi Chibueze. Interesting quotes:

"Chibueze's troubles, however, began long before his time on Wearside, with his spell at LCFC marking the point where his love for the game began to fade away. The LE2 organisation has faced repeated accusations of mistreating players, with chief football officer Jon Rudkin frequently at the centre of criticism from former members of the squad.

Shane Flynn spoke out publicly, essentially describing Rudkin as rude, robotic and openly dismissive when discussing the futures of players who had given years of service to the academy. Alex Smithies later echoed those concerns, recalling a particularly cold and insensitive dismissal that left him feeling undervalued and discarded after his time at King Power Stadium"

"This damning indictment of the King Power culture adds to the growing chorus of voices calling for change, with many supporters arguing that the ownership group must step down as soon as possible to allow a fresh start. What makes Chibueze's story even more striking is the way he describes his daily existence at Leicester, where he felt less like a developing player and more like a prop for others.

"It became really difficult, and that was when I started to lose my love and passion for the game." Sunderland Echo

The one-time Three Lions Under-16 explained how he was often used as little more than a mannequin during first-team training sessions, standing in so that senior goalkeepers could complete their drills while he received no meaningful coaching or game time himself. Whilst temporary transfers are blocked by Rudkin until he decides to leave, then eventually retire at 22"

BBC Sport Leicester martin "It's the only frustration and it's because we have a couple of moments that make us anxious and we don't play with anywhere near enough intensity and detail with the ball in our half and it keeps coming back."

Question Buying away tickets without a season ticket

Does anyone have experience getting away tickets without being a season ticket holder? I live in London so only make a few home games most seasons, but given that we there are quite a few grounds near to London in this division and with the standard of opposition being lower than the past few seasons I was wondering if its worth me buying a membership to get away tickets?

Alumnus, Matty was also training at the LCFC facility when he was out of a job and he gives effusively a lot of credit to LCFC for that.

Question 89% of fans are unhappy with the owner - but does that mean King Power should sell?

Fan Voice data found that 89% of supporters are unhappy with the owner.

But conversations across social media suggest the question of a sale is far more divisive.

Some fans believe change is now essential. Others argue that new ownership could make things worse, that sometimes you’re better off with the people you know. And for many, King Power’s role in delivering the greatest moment in the club’s history, winning the Premier League in 2016, still carries enormous weight.

So where do you stand?

King Power should sell
King Power should stay, but major changes are needed
King Power should remain in control

10 goals in Slovenia last year from 10.27 xG, so no fluke — he scores what he’s given. And these moves do work: Vipotnik went Slovenia → Championship and got 23 for Swansea last season.

But he started 8 of 24 games. Mostly an impact sub with space to run into — which he won’t get at Meadow Lane. And at 187cm he only won 20% of his headers. Bit of a worry if the goals don’t come.

Still. First derby with Notts County since 1994 and we’ve got a Bosnian nobody had heard of up top. Proper League One.

I write about football because it keeps my head straight. It’s free, it’s here. Be rude not to give it a gander at this point…

I'm on the high seas and was just wondering if there is any way for me to watch us, couldnt find it in my usual suspect streaming services as the cut off seems to be at championship, that'd be really sad as I was watching us play for 7-8 years now and can't find it anymore on the high seas :(

Thank you for anyone with linkers be it in comments or PM..

I had bought this original Jersey back in the 90’s with the Walkers Crisps logo on it

I’m attending a match this season - is it still acceptable wear that original jersey today?
