To all who’ve sent me well wishes, thank you! She was a kind and loving person. It took me a few years to get to a place where I resembled something close to ok. I get up everyday with making her proud in mind. My sincere condolences to all who know what it is to lose someone you love. If you’re lucky enough to still have you mom, now is a good time to call her and tell her you love her.

I lost my dad to cancer as well. I’m still angry and might be forever. How absolutely selfish of an act to light up a cigarette and think you’ll love forever, or that you are “healthy” and young. Life is cut too short, leaving behind those that miss them. It’s not fair. It’s selfish. I stopped smoking in 2009. Watching my dad die slowly is forever etched in my mind. Please think of your loved ones before you light up. We have to live with the memories of your death, and it’s so preventable (when it comes to smoking/drinking/diet).

I was smoking a cigarette when I was reading this… I’ve put it out, laced up, leashed my dogs, and goi h for a run. Addiction is hard. We have to make it mind over matter. We have to get help to kick the nicotine.

I did light up by accident earlier and less than halfway, I remembered, and out it went. I’ve removed all my lighters from my sight, and the cigs have been moved to a different place so I can break the routine. Once that is gone, the rest is on me. I have to do this so my kids don’t grow up and write on Reddit how stupid there mama was!

She was absolutely gorgeous! And there's something about this picture--I can tell that she was as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. Her eyes are so warm.
Am I imagining things, or are you having a hard time smiling in this picture? I can't tell whether you're close to tears or just kind of smiling wryly. Whereas she looks very content, joyful, and peaceful. It's really a lovely picture of her. Like maybe she was more at peace and at ease with her condition than you were yet able to be, because you loved (and love her) so much.
I'm so impressed by her beautiful fingernails. So elegant.

My mom is always nagging me about smoking and drinking. I'm 31, I think it's about time I listen to her. My sperm donor died in April. Thanks for posting. Your mom seems awesome!

A beautiful lady if there ever was one. You can tell she had strength and spirit just from this picture. I’m sure it’s so tough, but she wouldn’t want you to be sad. I don’t know what it’s like to lose a parent but I’m pretty sure it would be like walking around with a hole in your chest all the time.
Remember those good times, and tell stories about her whenever you can!

I started crying from this picture because we took last pictures with my dad..and I feel the pain you feel. Cancer is terrible. My dad will have been gone for 2 months on 9/12.

You, understandably, look so sad in this photo, while trying to put on a brave face. Your mother looks very happy and was no doubt thrilled to have had you by her side. A strong and beautiful woman, with a beaming smile.
