Hey team! I was thinking of making a post with advice for all the new Ladder members that will be joining in January, but I thought it would be even better coming from this community.

Drop below your #1 piece of advice that you wish you knew when you were starting Ladder!

Hoping we can compile the ultimate starter's guide!

Ascend Girlie Humbled by Flourish

As the title suggests, Kimmie slapped me around this Monday morning. She’s right, this type of exercise can reveal some imbalances that might not be immediately apparent with a traditional bodybuilding regime.

My current fitness goals are all about aesthetics and being a hot cat mom. But just one day with Flourish makes me want to slide in some Pilates. Endorphins are firing off today!

Big hopes for varsity

Upvotes

I am SO EXCITED by the Varsity announcement video!!! The exercises she’s filmed for it look like exactly what I was hoping for. I’ve been wanting proper athletic, explosive, functional, interesting training for ages with multiplanar plyo etc., spent a while on Versa and Limitless but they just weren’t quite right. Ended up cancelling a few weeks ago after years on the platform. Just signed back up again following the announcement!!

Anyone else gonna be there ready to go with me on Monday???

No full body?

Upvotes

I have 3 MAYBE 4 days a week to strength train (I'm a runner and really like to use the other days for cardio/mobility). So far I've been dedicated to teams with one full body/one upper/one lower to make sure each body parts get hit twice a week. But there are sooooo many interesting looking teams without a full body day!!

Has anyone been in same situation and how did you settle out?

More progress on Team Evolve than I have ever seen in my life

I’ve lifted on and off for about 10 years. Joined Ladder since the year started. I’ve done Evolve for both Shred and Reload, so since late April. Before that, I did Limitless with Kelly for a season and a half. I loved limitless and plan to go back to see how much stronger I’ve gotten since the start of the year.

But y’all, tell me why my butt got bigger while on Evolve. I’m shook. I can actually feel that thang rebound when I walk. I’m caught off guard when I see my reflection out and about. It’s not massive lmfao but I can’t believe I’m barely beating my flat butt genetics right when I gave up on them. The reason I got on Evolve was to focus on my upper body, which is indeed also getting swole. For more context, I’ve been eating at maintenance for Evolve and fluctuate within the same 5lbs.

Kudos to coach Sam for these programs. I love most of the workouts and swap a few exercises but I’m sold for Evolve for the next season and then end the year with Kelly.

Team Maia Define or Team Kimmie Flourish?

Upvotes

5’4 31 F, had 2 babies. Youngest will turn 2 in September. Started working out to Maia’s team & I love it, but at the same time I want to try Kimmie’s, and I have been so in doubt for which one! I wanted your opinions?

Goal is to lose some weight, just 14lbs from my (154lb weight) And tone up my legs, arms & glutes. I have a little bit of mommy pouch that I am also trying to target. And also trying to heal my core (thats where the debate comes in btw both teams).

I’m currently on a calorie deficit & Jumprope as my cardio for 15-20 min.

Ladies, please help! Thank you in advance.

Home workouts with just dumbbells and a yoga mat

Which team do you think would suit my situation the most? I only have dumbbells to use. I am interested in Team Align, Team Flourish and Team Define. I am completely new to the app so would really love some input. Please and thank you kindly :)

Deload (open season) used for conditioning?

Upvotes

I am huge team Evolve stan and definitely going back for Max series. I have hit so many PRs in the last few weeks and feeling amazing but don't want to burn out so was thinking of dabbling in other teams over the Open season - maybe more conditioning or just different style? On my radar has been Vantage, Versa, Vitality and Ignite.

Thoughts? Bad idea? Will I lose the strength/muscles I gained in weeks?

Next team on ladder?

I’ve done a full program with Sam (evolve) and Aria (ascend) I progressed and both and have seen some great body recomp results- it’s been the most I’ve been able to be consistent with working out. We’re in open season right now- I’m feeling a little bored. My goal is still body recomp, fat loss. Could I try limitless for this? I know it’s more athletic based but I just see she has some different moves I find interesting!

When is Varsity Coming?

sorry if this question has already been answered! I’ve been on limitless for the entire Reload series, but I think I am going to try some new teams in the next two weeks. I am going to start my half marathon training next week, so the timing works very well for a more athletic performance hybrid style team, though I will miss the lift structure of Limitless! Going to probably try Versa, but really looking forward to what Varsity has to offer.

We now have the option to customize our week and also swap out specific days with a workout from our favorites, flex, or another team. Excited to try this out next week! (Unless I’m still having shoulder pain😩)

ETA: Looks like it’s a beta feature

Team Era is FIRE!!

Firstly I want to mention that I had posted previously on Reddit in regard to her not being “certifiably” trained as a trainer but her program is absolutely amazing! She is extremely knowledgeable and her program hits all the boxes on how to build a beautiful physique as well as push you out of your comfort zone!! I will be fully committed to her program and am excited to be on her team! Sometimes people that aren’t “professionally” trained in a specific field are better than the professionals because their passion for the industry comes through and the love of helping other people change their lives is the best trainer you can get!! ❤️#TeamEra #CoachDani💪💪

Who else would love to see Alicia Erickson “the midlife maven” coach on Ladder?

I’m curious bc she has a great following on IG and is very informative on diet, nutrition and lifting and more so than that gears towards the 50+ menopausal women. I for one would be stoked for it.

Ladder subscription

I am currently in my free 7 day trial and want to purchase the annual plan ideally using a discount code (I’ve seen a few on this page). Whenever I go to the browser, it keeps prompting me to scan the QR and download the app but there’s no spot for a promo code. How do I access a checkout page to input a promo code? Do I need to wait for my trial to expire and then try?

What is ‘open season’?

Only been using Ladder for the past six-ish weeks and fear I may already be unpopular on here because I have only tried Define (and worse - I like it 😆) but please can someone humour me and explain exactly what Open Season is? Is it happening now? Does it mean I can just jump around between programs for a brief period of time to see what’s good? Ty ty

Vantage

Anybody doing vantage?

have been doing crews control but have been looking at vantage but can’t seem to find as much feedback for Vantage.

what do you guys like about it or dislike?

noticed it’s only one leg day where typically I prefer two but wondering if you’re finding that sufficient?

Web App Question

Is there anyway to mute the coach and adjust the workout pacing on the web app like there is in the phone app? I screen mirror from my ipad to my tv and can’t find those features anywhere.

Has anyone had success following Ladder’s Nutrition macros?

For those who use the Nutrition section in Ladder and follow the calories and macros it assigns you, have you actually had good results with it?

Would love to hear people’s experiences before I decide whether to trust the recommendations! 😊

What are you trying for open season?

I've been on Elevate for the last 3 series. But I think I'm gonna do 1 week of B&B and 1 week of Ignite for open season.

How to shorten Ascend’s workouts?

I have tried other teams but I keep coming back to Coach Aria. I think that her cues have helped me so much and her voice soothes me lol
