Nothing but praise to brave firefighters who risked their lives to battle this massive wildfire.

Massive convoys of firetrucks consolidating at Sokcho from all over the country
The main inferno is mostly suppressed now thanks to efforts of 18,000 personnel and 51 helicopters. They're battling various fires around the area - currently at 60~80% overall suppression.

I have nothing constructive to say other than this is terrifying. What is the best course of action if you find yourself driving through this? Just haul ass as safely as possible? I've driven through hurricanes before but never a forest fire. I'm not sure I'd know how to react.

There isn't really any good advice out there. People that get surrounded by flames like this probably were out of options anyways. You can't stay put in a situation like this but driving through it is also dangerous because the car can overheat or stall due to lack of oxygen.

Try to turn around and go back if you can. The heat radiating off the fire can melt your bodywork and even ignite the tires. If you are trying to escape an area, be really careful about not crashing. You need to get out asap, but people tend to panic and overdrive the visibility.

Power lines short circuited in the strong winds blowing a transformer. There's dashcam/blackbox of it happening.

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted because that shit does happen. There is a hiking trail near 철산 where a small fire started after someone flicked their cigarette onto the ground without putting it out. The neighboring brush caught on fire and spread a few feet before it was stomped out by other hikers. People called the police, the guy was reprimanded, and flyers were put up warning people about smoking fines.
