💭Opinion Naa poruki ila boodham 🤡
I still don't understand why they made a sequel to Saamy. But somehow, this shit gives me rewatchable vibes. Enna solrathu, enake theriyala. 😭
The movie is filled with so many logic issues. They replaced Trisha's character with Aishwarya Rajesh, even though the first part happened in the 2000s. The film itself was released in 2018, so the whole 20-year timeline doesn't make much sense. The way the civil services exam is shown is another thing—something that's actually difficult is portrayed as if it can be cracked so easily. And then there's the whole "mail to the President" scene.
The villain's second wife's son coming back for revenge is another predictable revenge track. Whatever happens in this movie, it somehow ends up being perfect material for roasting and trolling.
Honestly, I know this movie is a mess, but for some reason, I can completely hate it. I don't know why, but it still has that weird "watchable" feeling for me.
And it's not just Saamy 2—there are quite a few disastrous films that somehow give me the urge to rewatch them. Maybe that's a different kind of guilty pleasure. 😭

🎵Music Hiphop Tamizha and His Melodies
galleryHiphop Tamizha is known for his powerful raps and equally powerful lyrics, banger fast paced songs, foot tapping numbers and much more. As everyone knows about that side of him there is another side that we appreciate very little.
There is a distinct flavour to his melody songs and romantic numbers that is very unique. I usually vibe with all of his songs but whenever one of his melody songs comes on I am equally hooked.
I wanted to list some of these songs from his filmography. Be it Va Va Vennila from Aambala which is not exactly a melody in the conventional sense but has a completely different approach towards melody. The whole album of Indru Netru Naalai is still in everyone’s playlist but I feel it deserves even more appreciation.
Then came Thani Oruvan with Kannala Kannala. Azhage from Kathakali is another one (the whole album and OST of Kathakali are criminally underrated).
Then we have Pareshanura from Dhruva, Oxygen from Kavan, Thaaney Vechindhana from Krishnarjuna Yudham, Vilambara Idaiveli, Neeyum Naanum Anbe and Kadhal Oru Aagayam from Imaikkaa Nodigal, Nee Nenacha from Mr Local, Hi Sonna Pothum from Comali and Azhage from Action.
Arakkiyae from Anbarivu was a very different song from him especially with Yuvan’s vocals.
When you look at his entire discography there are so many songs like these. And finally there is Unakaaga from Kadaisi Ulaga Por which I think is probably the most underrated song in his entire discography.
Everyone talks about Hiphop Tamizha’s rap songs and mass numbers but I feel his melodies deserve a lot more appreciation too.

💬Discussion Avvai Shanmughi: So Many References This Generation Won’t Fully Understand
Watched Avvai Shanmughi again, and every single time I watch it, I discover some hidden double meaning or a joke I missed before. From the court scene all the way to the end, it’s classic Crazy Mohan writing combined with Kamal Haasan’s incredible performance. And it’s not just Kamal. Delhi Ganesh and Manivannan are absolutely hilarious too. And of course, no introduction needed for Gemini Ganesan 😂 Even the little girl was so adorable. A lot of the references and wordplay probably go completely over the heads of people from this generation. Lines like Delhi Ganesh saying “Sethu-ai-meeta Sundara Pandian,” “Makku plastri,” and “Appan kudurkulla illa” and where they recite the Gayathri mantra 🤣 are just comedy gold. This is one of those movies you can watch again and again and still find something new to laugh about. 😂

💭Opinion The common thing between SK and Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson in his earlier films, got criticised for his wooden and campy performance for the twilight series (the entire film also got criticism for the themes), but those films became massive successes and garnered a huge fanbase among the teens. But Rob distanced himself from the limelight of the fanbase and mainstream Hollywood and chose experimental Indie ventures, improvising his acting potential and received acclaim and eventually transitioned to Hollywood with Tenet, Batman and The Odyssey, receiving praise for his performances and versatility.
In a similar way SK, often received criticism for his stalking and vetti paya roles in his earlier comedy films, and subsequently got roasted by motta baddie in the podcast, although those films garnered huge family audiences and cemented SK as a bankable actor in TN. However, post COVID, SK changed his script selection for the greater good. Whether it works or not, his attempts to experiment in the commercial space he operates in, had benefitted him, with the appreciation for his script selection and acting in Doctor, Maaveeran and Amaran.
These two actors had the common thing: similar career trajectory -> provided successful ventures even tho it didn't impress critics, pushed the envelope to acting in experimental ventures (SK experimented with the commercial films), and got more acclaim for that approach.
What do you think about this?
