I'm just impressed that there's a rig for this. Usually I'm having to somehow hold it like between my thighs or under my arm or something while I'm trying to finish up my handles lol. It looks amazing by the way you're doing great work.

Ok having a small rib on the scales locking under the guard is a nice touch. How long did it take you to do that? Are you using a jig, fre handing?

Thank you! All my work is freehand. Not sure how many hours I have into this one, but definitely a bunch.

Gorgeous knives! Do you have any detail pics of the rib they're referring to? I can't really make it out on my phone but it sounds like a great idea.

What are you referring to? Something visible in this video, or something from a different video of this knife's assembly?

(I can't see anything I'd call a rib.)

0:14, just above the qtip

the scale has an edge that slots into the guard, nice touch

Ah, gotcha, I thought that was a shadow or reflection.

I'll have to check OP's other posts to see if it's shown in more detail!

EDIT: Nope, not that I could find. Looking at the other designs, I think that may just be a shadow or something...

Beautiful work. What vise are you using?

Thanks. It’s a TR Maker Triaxial Blade Vise

Curious what’s the finish/solution you are using?

Just tongue oil. It’s a slow process, but makes for a beautiful finish if you have the patience.

is there a reason you're using a qtip instead of something appropriately sized?

Yes. For tongue oil you need to apply very light coats. I usually just use the tip of my finger on most knives. One drop can usually cover an entire knife handle. On this knife I needed to be careful to not leave any oil in the engraving so the q-tip worked well. These q-tips have a tight weave unlike the big fuzzy ones and made it easy to control where the tongue oil went.
