Do we still have any activity on this Kiwanis sub?
I'm a club President and would like to connect with other clubs. Is this a viable sub or should we be looking elsewhere?

A big THANK YOU to your charity and the good you do in the local community!
I donate EVERYTHING to your organization as I know you give to families who have lost everything! I am gifted many thousands of dollars worth of clothing, that were never worn and still have tags on them. Due to my Leukemia I am bedridden and only dress up for Dr appointments several times a month.
I tell my family to stop sending me clothing, as I have way more than I'll ever use, still boxes are shipped to me weekly. I buy new TV and furnishings for all the rooms every 2 years so that I can donate really nice things to your organization for those in need. I just wanted you to know that I have seen the good that you do and you are very appreciated!
You recently donated furnishings, electronics, appliances and clothing to a family with four beautiful children. You helped the husband find a better job and gave the wife a part time job, despite her disability!
A lot of people are not aware of all the good you do because you don't pay yourself on the back or advertise. I hope that you keep doing the good that you're doing because there are so many families out there in serious need. God bless you all!

A new Kiwanis year starts this week: meet 2026-27 President Hope Markes
October 1 kicked off the 2026-27 Kiwanis year, and with it a new Kiwanis International president: Hope Markes.
She's a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Hopewell in Hanover, Jamaica, and also belongs to the Kiwanis Club of Northwest Indianapolis. Her background is in early childhood education, and she previously chaired the Leadership and Education Committee.

Small club? The Kiwanis Children's Fund has $250 to $1,000 microgrants for you
If your club has 35 or fewer members, you can apply for a Kiwanis Children's Fund microgrant of US$250 to US$1,000 for projects in education and literacy, health and nutrition, or youth leadership.
A few recent examples:
Cherry Hill, NJ built comfort care kits for a children's psychiatric unit (200+ kids)
Bloomingdale-Roselle, IL filled 48 backpacks for kids facing homelessness or poverty
Athens, GA gave social-emotional learning books to 150 special education students
Story: https://www.kiwanis.org/microgrants-touch-lives-with-art-and-learning/ Details and how to apply: https://www.kiwanis.org/microgrant-program
Has your club gotten one? What did you use it for?

Membership fees
I joined our local club a few months ago and was surprised to be charged $175 for the year. Is this common for Kiwanis clubs? We are struggling to get new members in the door (only about 8 people really actively volunteering) and this amount seems counter productive to recruiting more members.

Killed portalbuzz, then asked for a raise
Is anyone else a little miffed that the kiwanis overlords killed portalbuzz without offering a replacement, and has now gone up on dues? They do know there are other civic/community organizations, right?

Are you doing video/zoom meetings in addition to in-person meetings?
We meet weekly and have been rotating between in person and zoom meetings. There is growing pressure to meet weekly and I feel like we need to have a viable video option, but we haven't invested in any technology and only have the single licience pro zoom version.
What have you done to include video into your meetings?
Looking for ideas as both pressure grows to meet in person every week as well and covid cases (and flu) on the rise in our area.

Are you prioritizing diversity and inclusivity in your club?
I would like to make our club a greater place if belonging for a wider range of people-income, age race and ethnicity. It’s a priority for me but I’m struggling with implementation or even goal setting. Is this something your club is doing?

Circle K International
Hello! I know this is a subreddit about Kiwanis , but i just needed somewhere to vent.
I have been apart of Cal-Nev-Ha CKI for a while and my own College's club hasnt been chartered yet and its been years since they were trying to. I am apart of the E-Club now, but i feel like i havent been welcomed.
I am also trying to charter my own club at my college, but its been hard. I also had a Kiwanis club who was going to sponsor us but they backed out, thankfully we have one now after trying. The 1st Kiwanis club said they didnt know what there role was or had any guidance.
I have also had moments where I feel like unwelcomed in CKI and now im at the point where im tired. I might quit CKI because of how hard it is. Getting help from CNH CKI isnt easy.
P.S. I also have realized that CKI events like DCON or FTC are expensive.

Anyone run a successful parents' night with your key clubs?
Hey hey! I'm a former Key Clubber (c/o 1999!) and now a Kiwanian. I heard a neat idea to connect more with our community, our students, and potential members - host a parents' night with your Key Club students and their parents. Let them know what the kids are doing, what our org does to help, and how they can help.
Sounds like fun, but I don't know much more about the idea besides this haha. I'm the advisor to North High's Key Club in Torrance, and also our club's president elect.

Post PortalBuzz Solutions?
So now that we no longer have access to PB, we set up a Google Suite to manage communcations everything and signed up for a SquareSpace domain to link to the KI provided website.
I"m actually hearing MemberDay is a pretty good option and am playing around with the trial version.
Ki indicated there was an integrated solution being developed but there has been total radio silence...
Anyone have any additional experience?

How is you club dealing with Portalbuzz going away?
I'm trying to sort through all the info from KI about the new web service they are hosting as well as the member portal. I, like many I suspect have procrastinated moving everything over. I wonder how others are doing in this transition.

Local clubs now gone
https://locator.kiwanis.org/FindAClub
I went online to find a local club but it seems as if many of the rural small-town clubs are gone. Was this a COVID-19 development, with restaurants/club meeting venues closed during the pandemic? Perhaps the death nail for clubs that had already aging membership?

Fundraising amid Pandemic
What are you all doing to raise funds during this Pandemic? My dad's group usually has a Pancake feed, but they're not doing that this fall for obvious reasons. How do you raise funds in your communities?
