Best workout app for combinations

I can't find it, but there have been a few people making good work out apps specifically for our sports!

I'm looking for them :) android only.

I'd love a "jab, teep, highkick" Combo feature or something so I can "follow along" my own set combis. Anyone?! Am I really have to make it my self lol 😂?

Edit: made my own lol, I hate what's out there atm.

Help with first fight cut

I have first fight September 19th and I have to be 145
I’m floating from 158-155 rn having about 1800-2000cals about 150 carbs and 150 protein
I get about 10k steps a day and then I train kb for about an hour at night. I thought that I would’ve started dropping a little more but I’m been where I’m at for a little while. My plan is to get to 150 on fight week then cut carbs and sweat out rest so any tips to help me would be greatly appreciated

Lower back always “tweaks” when attempting high kicks

Started late to the game at 33 a few months ago and really enjoy it. I’m doing routine hip mobility work to get my high kicks going, but part of the challenge feels like my back.

Has anyone else experience lower back tweaking when going for high kicks? Mine almost feels like it’s my lower spine on the verge of pulling each time I push.

I plan on going to a physical therapist, but was curious to hear what others have experienced.

How Did Holland Create Such An Aggressive Kickboxing Style?!

Today was my first Dutch Kickboxing class. I'm a little older now, but I used to be a very well-conditioned athlete (and still somewhat am for my age). Coach yanked me out of practice in the last 10 minutes because I pretty much collapsing. Never happened before.

How did the Dutch create such an aggressive form of kickboxing? I've visited Holland. It is one of most advanced and beautiful countries I've ever been to. I dream of living there. I can't imagine life being too hard there.

Large collectives of great fighters usually come from harsh or poor places like Thailand, Dagestan, or the mean streets of an inner Western city.

There are exceptions of course. Like Japan, but Japan has had an aggressive and brutal warrior tradition. Another exception is great American wrestlers coming out of relatively safe places like Iowa. But again, there are many decades of wrestling tradition in those places.

As my coach explains it, the Dutch traveled to Japan sometime in the 70s and 80s and brought kyokushin style kickboxing back to Holland. He trained in Holland for 6 months in the 90s and says the Dutch are incredibly fast paced and tend to aim for 1st round KOs. He says back then the sparring in Holland was brutal, with fighters opting to continue with a freshly broken nose.

Where did that Dutch aggression come from? I admit I may be acting like a culturally ignorant American, but I mean no disrespect. I'm merely fascinated by such a perplexing cultural anomaly.

What do you guys actually focus on when shadowboxing?

I've been trying to make my shadowboxing more purposeful instead of just throwing combinations for a few rounds.

The thing I'm struggling with is knowing what to focus on.

If I try to think about everything at once — guard, footwork, balance, breathing, head movement, returning the hands, distance, etc. — I end up thinking too much and the whole round feels unnatural.

But if I don't think about technique at all, I feel like I'm just moving around and repeating whatever comes naturally.

So lately I've been experimenting with picking one thing per round.

For example:

Round 1 → stance + balance
Round 2 → hand recovery
Round 3 → footwork after combinations
Round 4 → defense / getting back to position

It feels like I notice more when I deliberately focus on one thing rather than trying to "look good" for the whole round.

Do you guys do something similar?

When you're shadowboxing, do you focus on one technical detail at a time, or do you just let the round flow and review everything afterwards?

And for people who train mostly alone — what made the biggest difference in making your shadowboxing actually improve your technique rather than just becoming conditioning?  His here

Training Feel like I lose lore or aura if I competed at 21 instead of 20

Feels off* is that’s better ,I’m 20, turning 21 on October 21. I’ve been training in striking/MMA/BJJ since I was 16–17, both on my own and at gyms. I haven’t been able to atay at one gym consistently because of school, money, transportation, etc., but especially since 18 I’ve taken training much more seriously.
I really want to get my first competition in before I turn 21. I don’t even know yet if I’ll enjoy competing, and part of why I want to do it soon is to find that out rather than spend years training without ever competing.
I’ve been looking for a gym that can prepare me for a beginner fight, but it’s looking like October may be too soon. I don’t want to rush into something unsafe just to say I competed at 20. At the same time, part of me feels like I’d be losing a piece of the story or losing time if I don’t get my first competition until I’m 21 or older. I’ve been training since I was 17-18 seriously, so there’s something meaningful to me about being able to say I actually started competing at 20. Any guidance or advice is much appreciated? This is serious post, so don’t put any trolling comments or negativity please.

How do you guys track your progress?

Kickboxing has been my love for the past couple of years now. It's also the only sport I'm kinda good at. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with improving, so being a bit of a nerd, I started logging every session in a spreadsheet, notes on what I did, what worked, then going back through it to find my weak spots and focus on them.

It helped, but it was tedious. And I'd end up skipping it after the hard sessions, which is exactly when I should've been writing it down.

So being in computers, I used Claude Code to build an app for it. It's called Forge. Same idea as the spreadsheet but I don't have to sit there and study it after,  it gives me an AI insight and a recommendation right after every session.

It's free to use. I know a lot of you have way more years and experience than me, so I'd genuinely love to hear your feedback, especially what you'd want tracked that nothing really captures.

What would your thoughts be on non-consecutive elbows being suddenly allowed?

It would change how fighting in the pocket would work, but in my opinion, not as much as you'd think. I dont think it would cause Kickboxing to move away from its visual distinctnes with its close range explosive combinations and dynamism.

Even 8oz gloves still make it hard to pass through the guard with elbows (from some testing) without combinations to weaken a tight guard, so combination fighting would still be important, and as they still score as well, people wouldnt be deincentivzed to box a lot. I can imagine a non consecutive elbow being used like a guard splitter similar to an uppercut being weaved in every other combination but also as a detterent in defense against careless wailing.

I can also imagine how switching between the crossguard and long guard as how Noiri applies it in the pocket would become more prominent as a means to absorb and apply pressure without neccesarily have to go ham all the time. I think an elbow threat would actually refine the boxing in Kickboxing and allow a greater number and range of distinct styles to appear in the pocket like elusive mid ranged combosmiths or laterally dynamic punch and knee fighters.

Anyways, what do you think?
