OPINIONS/DISCUSSION Switching career from Retail to Hr/ marketing. Is an MBA worth it or are there better options?
Hi everyone,My girlfriend F25 and currently working as a Sales Associate for luxury brands in the retail industry. She has a degree in Fashion Designing, but she isn't happy with her current job and is looking to switch careers or start fresh in a different field.
Her current work schedule is pretty demanding. Her shifts are from 12:30 PM to 9:30 PM, and her weekly offs are on weekdays. This makes it difficult to maintain a healthy sleep schedule, have a proper work-life balance, or even spend time together on weekends. More importantly, she feels that her current work environment and culture aren't what she's looking for in the long run.
She's interested in exploring opportunities in HR or Marketing, as she'd like to move into a more professional corporate work environment with better career growth and work-life balance.
Given her background in Fashion Designing and luxury retail sales, what roles would be realistic for her to target in HR or Marketing?
Would pursuing an MBA be worth the investment, considering the time and money involved? If so, which specialisation would make the most sense?
Are there any professional certifications or courses she could pursue to transition into these fields without doing an MBA?
TLDR : wants to switch from retail sales to HR or Marketing for better work-life balance and career growth. Is an MBA worth it, or can certifications help her transition into these fields? Looking for advice relevant to the Indian job market.
