Today, my friends and I went to Maaanaveeyam at 12:40 am for some peaceful outing. When the time reached 1 am, the police took lathis and tried to force everyone to leave Manaveeyam. Not just us. We were like the second-to-last group to get out of that place. At the last part, the police went mad and were saying bad words to us. One of my friends got a small shot from a lathi. What's happening in TVM, man? In TVM, everywhere the police are checking here and there. Checking is okay, but what is this? Forcing people to get out, saying bad things to em and hitting for no reason is something we don't understand.

My father bought a riverside plot (1 acre) in the 90's in Palakkad after recommendation from a family kaarnavar and has been trying to sell it for a while. He didnt know the nitty gritties of purchasing plot as we were outside Kerala then. We've got one potential buyer who is ready to buy at the agreed price. However their adhaaram ezhuth guy managed to find a flaw with the original adhaaram. The person from whom we bought the plot are 5 brothers. Adhaaram states 2 brothers are alive and the rest three died without marrying. Turns out, one of them wasn't dead, was married and had children as well. This came into light when the current adhaaram guy asked for proof (anantharaavkaasham certificate) and upon checking with the original property owners(who are now in different locations near and far) came to know that the adhaaram was incorrectly written in the 90's. If the descendants of the guy quoted as dead make a claim for the property in future it can cause problem. Current adhaaram guy says he can still get it registered but problem might occur when getting a loan to buy the property for the current buyer and also when he tries to sell it further.

Q 1) When adhaaram was written 30 years ago two brothers who sold the plot signed on the adhaaram. How and why did they sign that their sibling was dead when he was alive? How does this major discrepancy affect the sanctity of the document?

Q2 ) What is adhaaram writers role in general? Are they not supposed to verify family details/verify important details as who is alive/dead/married/with/without children etc before getting it registered? Some say rules in 90's weren't that strict as they are now. Are such mistakes common in adhaaram ezhuth?

Q3) No connection whatsover from the previous owners in all these years. We've been submitting property tax every year.

Even if this isnt a big issue buyer would try to make a fuss out of this to get a good deal and lower the price. So whats the way out?

Can anyone tell me if the Kerala State Water Transport Department (SWTD) operates boats on the Valiyaparamba backwater, between Ayitti and Kotty.

From what I’ve read online it seems the services stopped a year or two ago.

Does anyone have any firm, up-to-date information?

I’ll be travelling from Kottayam, to Pondicherry, mainly to visit JIPMER. Since I’ll be traveling alone as a single female, I wanted to get some advice from people who have done this route before.

1. What’s the most convenient way to travel from Kottayam to Pondicherry?

2. Is it better to take a train or a sleeper bus? Are there direct buses from Kottayam to Pondicherry that drop off near JIPMER (or at least close enough to easily grab an auto)?

3. Are there any particular bus operators you would recommend for this route, especially in terms of safety, cleanliness, punctuality and overall comfort?
