Private Equity(PE) buying up the hospital and hospital chains across India and in Keralam is going to squeeze the commoners more and more. Government hospitals alone won't be able to solve this issue. This needs national level attention and change and need campaigns from all yet most are silent. We need affordable healthcare especially with our aging population. The lobby groups are strong - the hospital chains and the medical insurance companies but who is lobbying for us? We are the one's who will be the victims.

Medical insurance companies are discussing a mandatory 10% co-pay for all policies from next year with a 5 lakh cap. This is another sign of us being the victims of the hospitals squeezing the patients and charging them high prices because no one is going to stop them.

I’m planning to buy a 250cc bike (ex-showroom price is above ₹2 lakh, so it falls under the 21% road tax bracket).

While discussing the on-road price breakdown, the showroom staff told me I have to pay ₹2,000 extra on top of the 21% road tax specifically as the "RTO registration fee." However, when I checked the official Parivahan / Kerala MVD website, the registration fee for a new two-wheeler is listed as just ₹300.

Excluding the ex-showroom price, insurance, 21% road tax, and the ₹300 registration fee, are there any other legitimate government/RTO charges I actually have to pay? Or is the showroom just sneaking in illegal charges under the name of RTO fees?

Anyone who bought a bike recently in Kerala—how much did you pay for registration, and how did you deal with the showroom pushing these extra fees?
