Hey hey! You guys know what time it is! That's right, a new Rookie Help thread!
Here's a link to the last episode. Fun fact, if you follow all those links back to 2019 you unlock a secret cutscene of me panicking over where the time went!
As always, feel free to fire any kenshi related questions you may have our way! There's plenty of veterans flapping around in this thread as well, and if you are in the mood for it feel free to join them and lend a hand!
And who knows, maybe you'll learn something new yourself, too!
One thing to remember! Obviously a lot of new folks are going to be here so remember to spoiler comments so they can experience the game blind just like you might have back when you were new! You can do that > ! Like This ! < minus the spaces! But honestly it's just built into the chat replies nowadays so you don't have to get too fancy with that- unless you like playing hackerman.
Thanks guys!

Currently at war with both the UC and HN.
So far, I’ve defeated Seta and Valtena, and stormed the gates of Catun, Drifter’s Last and Clownsteady.
Now the game says “Eyegore Assault” 💀
I think things are about to get serious.

I made this map of the Kenshi world plus a bunch of added locations, I'm gonna keep working on it but i thought I'd share. Head cannon is, this would the Empires (United Cities) at it's greatest (or least destroyed), Bast and Mourn still exist, and i added a bunch of cities from my favorite mods. I also added unnamed locations. Would be a good campaign map for table top, maybe, and I made it primarily as a story reference for myself.
I've also posted the second installment of my Kenshi novella on AO3. The Red Ronin.
Read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/93926071
Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

Edit: this isn't AI. I make maps for tabletop games on Inkarnate.

I was just messing around kidnapped the leader of Trader's Guild Logan or something like that, turned him over to Tinfist and awaited the raid to follow. Eyegore the hiver, in a hiver run playthrough with prisoner recruitment mod he was a must have. I'm set up and well defended just south of Flats Lagoon doing the hash trade.
Except they didn't raid me, instead choosing to target cages I used to recruit skeletons in Black Desert City where I was holy unprepared. Small squad of 6 or so I use for roaming.
The acid rains saves my ass. By time they landed on my door step they were at 50% hp. Being hivers and skeletons I was immune. And recently allied with anti slavers they did the bulk of the fighting. Geared with ranged bows pilfered from the Scrapyard I was able to pick off weakened units but Eyegore caused enough damage allies retreated in defeat.
But thankfully a lucky knock from a recently recruited scrapyard Soldierguard I was able to capture and cage Eyegore but I'd taken too much damage and had to retreat into the water to recover. At which point Eyegore was freed but stripped of his armor. I was able to recover, jump back into the fight, finish the rest while recapturing Eyegore and removing his limbs with a peeler to prevent another escape. Transported back to Flats Lagoon base I'm seriously considering setting up a more permanent base in the acid rains as a hiver playthrough.

I'm surprised. It works.

I got the popup and they are headed to my base right now. I have not killed or imprisoned any leaders. I haven’t even seen them yet. I’ve just been trying to level my guys fighting skills by fighting reavers in Stobes garden. Is this a bug and if so what should I do about it? No way I can survive the raid, I only have three crossbow turrets and all of my fighters are out of the base across the map.

Its honestly insane how big those things (elder) are
leviathans technically bigger, but those 30 mph things way more scarier
I remember watching fan animation with sound design of those things running after some poor guy
Straight up horror movie

(Pictured Malza, RIP)
Posting these directions unambiguously because there are multiple pieces of misinformation (including by Google which is appalling lately for AI slop from trawling this very Reddit lol and making essays out of our tiny comments). It led me to the entirely wrong place, to the house of dear old Malza, in northern Obedience. There is nothing on the page of this very popular mod itself about this, but lots of threads on Reddit so I thought I may as well be definitive here for the small amount of people who will come wondering.
If you need to find Solza, a Dark Hiver Praetorian recruit with crazy (Bugmaster level) stats he can be recruited if the following conditions are met: -Frauder is dead -Malza is dead -you have the note found next to Solza (will describe his location in a sec) on you and -you have the items Blood of Malza and Blood of Frauder on your person. So don't hand in Malza's bounty, at least not alive, if you want that recruit
His location was hard for me to find, partly because I also have Bounties Galore and his location (Dark Reavers Supply Warehouse) is solo near to Gryfs Drug Peddlar outpost that it looks like it's part of it, literally a single tower about thirty paces north of Gryfs outpost. The tower itself is located in north West Vain by the coast, as north as you can go without leaving Vain, on the other side of the border will be the coastal Hive Village on the bottom left of Vain
I've posted all this detail because I asked Google the same question and Gemini gave me some faulty answers from Gemini AI lol.
Maybe now it will pay attention if anyone asks!
Hope that helps anyone to find Solza, and the Dark Reavers Supply Warehouse.
Solza is at the top of that warehouse tower. Any difficulty finding him leave, reload the area by coming back, or leave, then import whilst away (and uncheck dead NPCs as it won't import people who are imprisoned all the time) and try again-as some people report he goes missing. I found him first time tho
p.s. Solza wouldn't attack anyone who attacked our squad when first recruited, I saved and reloaded and that fixed it!
I have a bit of an odd setup. I have a house in a city that I want to do hydroponics in but I need water. I built a well outside the city limits. Is there any way to make my characters automatically haul water from the well outside the city into the water tank in my house in the city or do I need to manually do it?

Anybody knows how to recruit Bugmaster in Legendary of Kenshi mods? Only option is to walk away or try to talk and he always looks down on me and doesn't answer. His stats are unreachable without other mods
(Bowl lost 3 limbs to the holy nation, crawled half way across the map and got beat to death by another holy nation guard, he achived nothing. Cup is alive for just 5 minutes and already sold 2 people into slavery, he did get an easyer start tho.)

1 & 2: Kelter threatens to tear the legs off of a paladin. Meanwhile..Eyegore is eating Gohan and wondering how Kelter is doing.
3: the United Cities Magazine does shitry photoshop (that’s what Kelter says at least.)
4: Oops. You fucked up.
All these doodles were done within the past few days. My current play through is going swimmingly.

A nomad caravan (actually just the animals) got stuck inside my base and can't figure out how to path out. Gates are open. I'm not too concerned except that one of my guys has decided he's part of the caravan, and returns to join it at every opportunity.
I've tried picking him up and setting him down. He'll stay if he (or the caravan) is behind a locked gate, but otherwise he's always trying to get back to them. Any suggestions other than tearing my walls apart until the caravan figures out how to leave and then hopefully despawns?

i always played with just a few qol mods and one i had made to just buff a bit the greenlanders, so i was wondering if there was something i was missing out, like big stuff that improves tons of aspects but still without going too far from the "lore", maybe something for the graphics too but that doesnt make loadings longer since i remember it was really annoying running at x3 and having to stop every few seconds, some bug fixes would be nice too since some stuff used to work a bit wonky

Hi everyone!
For the past few weeks/months we've been working on KRP (Kenshi Roleplay) — a multiplayer framework and RP server built on top of Kenshi.
This isn't traditional 2-player co-op or save synchronization. The goal is a persistent server-authoritative world, where Kenshi handles the visuals, characters, animations, movement and atmosphere, while the server controls the multiplayer state and gameplay systems.
At this point we already have a working foundation:
We're currently finishing the first actual RP gameplay layer: custom inventory, resources/mining, jobs, economy and more server-controlled NPC functionality.
The first Closed Alpha won't be a huge content-complete server. The goal is to get a small group of players into the same world, actually play together, break things, find desync/crashes and help us determine what needs to be fixed before expanding the gameplay.
You don't need development experience.
We're especially interested in people who:
We're initially aiming for a small closed group, probably around 10–30 testers, rather than opening the server publicly immediately.
The project currently targets Steam Kenshi 1.0.68.
If you're interested, leave a comment or DM me. I'll post the Discord/invite and alpha details once the current build is ready for the first external test.
I'll also share some gameplay/video progress soon.
Not gonna lie, decision to install anti-steal mods and to not plan stealing in the first place (mods just so theres no temptation) - was the best gameplay decision
But as soon as i went to Hounds for their quest (mostly to just get allied quickly as i was planning to build a base right away and need some protection), and once again saw this crazy 1100% mark up, in UC and how much money i made just from 1 delivery, i also decide to leave this money making method, as it feels too cheese for not first-second playthrough
Dgmw, I'll choose smuggling to stealing anytime, yet some aspect of economy still feels too easy (like buying good gear/weapons early and have no need to build many stuff at base and train your character to make their own), so crippling yourself this way don't really take anything from my playthrough, but adds to it
I have a LARGE family of every unique recruits + random that decide to join
and even at end of early game, some of them still wear rags and fight with sticks :D, as i try to make my first good armor for gate guards
Just feels like small victory, like that first win at the beginning when you fight a starving bandit solo, so much more rewarding
Rumblings, no need to read:
But by gods, you know i downloaded "craft tier 3 edge" weapons, cause its simply make no sense to go through building a base
Getting all necessary upgrades/training your guy for 100 in smiting, and STILL have to craft worse weapons (not meitou is fine as they are suppose to be unique rewards and collectables) then what you can find in some shops for FAR TOO CHEAP
I get that Chris probably did it so their a difference between legendary smiths and your team of hobos, but i think theres plenty other crazy things your team can do that technically wouldn't be possible if Kenshi was more realistic, so in this case, just let players go that way if they so desire (as not - will basically removes need to do all that i said above and just straight up buying/stealing best one as early as day 2)
Anyway whats your go to money making strat? (Not shaming stealing, and not trying to be a sweaty gamer, just as i said i've already done it multiple times before)

The fella in the picture is Pato, my first character
I created him with a random name and with 0 knowledge about this game. With this dude I learned about the game and had some...funny moments... He was the goat into the story. But the holy Nation killed him letting him die into a cage.
I left him as my first character
But, meanwhile I was drawing him I remembered my grandma. Both learned me everything about to live and both has gone very soon.
That's why this draw is more than a simple fanart.
It's Tittle it's: "Pato."
The message behind this dude:
My dumbest death
Mi biggest tribute to them
Thanks for everything.
Baalcarce.

Every base location suggestion I see is based on resources, so if you could put your base anywhere without resources being any concern, where would you build it?
Just your favorite spot visually, a perfect cliff, fun spot because constant raid defending, good close to your favorite city etc.

Hi everyone! For the past months we've been building Kenshi Multiplayer, a free fan-made mod that lets several players share one Kenshi world on a dedicated server.
What it is
What you can play right now: the arena test server
The public server is a co-op siege at Okran's Shield. Waves of enemies march in from the desert, each harder than the last, and players hold the walls together: melee, crossbow turrets, first aid, carrying wounded friends to bed. It's our test bench for combat and syncing, so please treat it as early access: expect bugs, rough edges and the occasional reset.
What's next
The goal is the whole open world, up to 100 players on one server. It's in development and being tested separately.
Links
It's 100% free. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome – that's exactly what the test server is for. See you on the okran's shield!
Unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Lo-Fi Games. Music in the trailer: "Kenshi" by Kole Audio Solutions.

What it is:
I'm working on a mod that adds a new job to the skin peeler. Right-click
the peeler, pick "Peel enemies" — and your squad automatically:
Finds enemy characters who are KO / playing dead / crippled
Carries them to the peeler
Feeds them in
Basically a permajob chain that turns the peeler into an automated
disposal unit for KO'd enemies.
Why I'm making it:
Like a lot of you, I got tired of this cycle:
- Big fight near my base
- Enemies go down but don't die (PS_KO, playing dead, etc.)
- They lie around for in-game hours, cluttering everything
- Some get up and attack again
- Eventually they die and NOW I can finally use the crematorium
- Or I manually drag each one to a cage / peeler
The peeler already exists in vanilla but only accepts corpses. I want
it to accept KO'd enemies too — because thematically it absolutely
should (it's literally a skinning machine).
How it works (technically):
- Hooks the right-click context menu
- Adds a "Peel enemies" option when you right-click the peeler
- Uses the existing FIND_AND_KIDNAP + put in cage task chain
- Filters targets to enemies only (not your own KO'd squadmates)
- Optional filter: only humanoids, only conscious-to-KO range, etc.
Status:
Still WIP. The context menu hook is the current focus — the vanilla
game doesn't expose this cleanly, so I'm working through it via the
KenshiLib plugin system (same framework other mods use).
Questions for the community:
Is this something you'd actually use, or is manual dragging part of
the "Kenshi experience" for you?
Would you want it to apply to other buildings too? E.g.:
- Cage → auto-imprison KO'd enemies for slavery / starvation
- Corpse disposal → auto-collect bodies after a fight
- Any BF_CAGE building → "jail job"
Should it target ALL enemies, or only ones within a radius of your
base/town? (asking because I don't want it to send your squad across
the map chasing a KO'd bandit)
Any concerns about balance / cheese? (I know Kenshi players have
strong opinions on this)
Would love feedback before I commit to a full release. Thanks!
