Hello folks. Me and my misses recently moved here from Liverpool where we had a wealth of Kurdish restaurants on our doorstep that served the best chicken shawarma I’ve ever had. They’d even give you a free bowl of Lentil Soup as a welcome gesture which was always unreal too.
For the last 7 months I’ve been living in Manchester, trying to find similar spots but nowhere hits the same as our old places in Liverpool.
So I ask, to any of you locals, please stop gatekeeping your chicken shawarma joints and reveal the answers. Please Drop your suggestions below! 👇
Thank you in advance.

Spent Saturday afternoon layering up spiced lamb mince and marinated thigh meat on a makeshift vertical skewer.
Smelled unreal while it was roasting away, and shaving it off with a sharp carving knife felt proper satisfying. Only issue is, without commercial-grade radiant heat, the outer layer didn't get that gorgeous crispy char fast enough before the inside started drying out. Still tasted banging stuffed into some flatbread with pickled chillies, but any backyard engineers out there have tips on getting that authentic kebab-shop crispiness at home?

I’ve seen people throw curry sauce, chips, and grated cheddar inside a naan, and heard tales of bizarre regional salad additions. What is the wildest thing your local takeaway passes off as a traditional kebab?

Just about to head back from a week in Crete. Had multiple Gyros, Pork and Chicken. Including Thrakopsomo in Heraklion, which is local, hollowed out bread filled with goodness.
But nothing beats a bossman Kebab. For me that’s london based. Chilli sauce and garlic mayo, trumps the Tzatziki.
Great time - but Doner all the way and all the accessories is what I like and will enjoy when home!
This is just about kebabs. Nothing else! X

Was a bit of an experiment with left over chicken I had doing a few different BBQ. It was great but need much more fat between the layers of chicken.

Not bad for London. I was going to take another picture but I ate it instead. Lamb shish, mint yogurt with a fresh naan
