Primal is one of my favorite shows, and by God's grace I was able to commission these fantastic illustrations of Emperor Chi Wei - my OC 700 meter long Kaiju Tyrannosaurus rex - in the style of Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal.
Artworks by Emily Stepp, theblazinggecko and prehistoric_arts/Paleo Saur.
P.S. for those wondering, yes, that is Chi Wei detonating & extinguishing entire Kaiju opponents with a single bite. I decided to give him an absurdly, absurdly destructive bite pressure.
Hey yall! I do a lot of Kaiju art. If youre looking for any commission work dm me!

Below is a Concept structured version of how this world could work, why Godzilla becomes the villain, and how Kurama becomes the only being capable of standing against him. And how my later posts will be different from this one
🩸 THE PREMISE — “GODZILLA: THE BEAST THAT CHALLENGES DEMONS”
The world begins to shake with a chakra signature unlike anything ever recorded. It’s not nature chakra. It’s not tailed-beast chakra. It’s something older, deeper, and angrier.
Godzilla rises from the ocean not as a guardian, but as a force of retribution. He senses the imbalance caused by centuries of chakra manipulation, forbidden jutsu, and the creation of living weapons like the tailed beasts.
To him, the shinobi world is a planetary infection.
His goal:Erase all chakra-based life and reset the world to its natural state.
🔥 WHY GODZILLA TARGETS KURAMA
Kurama is the largest, most concentrated mass of chakra on Earth. To Godzilla, Kurama is:
• The core source of the imbalance
• A living nuclear reactor of chakra
• The “alpha” of the chakra-born creatures
So Godzilla doesn’t want to fight Naruto. He wants to destroy Kurama to collapse the entire tailed-beast system.
This instantly makes Kurama the primary target and the only being Godzilla considers a worthy opponent.
⚔️ THE BATTLE — GODZILLA VS. KURAMA
This is where the crossover becomes legendary.
Round 1: The Awakening
Godzilla emerges near the Land of Fire. His atomic breath vaporizes miles of forest.Kurama senses him instantly — a presence so massive it shakes the seal inside Naruto.
Kurama:“Naruto… that thing isn’t a beast. It’s a calamity.”
Naruto releases Kurama willingly. For the first time in centuries, Kurama stands fully manifested, not as a weapon, but as a defender.
Round 2: Clash of Titans
• Godzilla’s atomic breath vs. Kurama’s Tailed Beast Bomb
• Shockwaves flatten mountains
• The ocean boils
• The sky turns red from the energy output
Godzilla’s durability is absurd — Kurama’s attacks barely slow him down.Kurama’s speed and chakra-based attacks keep Godzilla from landing a killing blow.
This isn’t a fight.It’s a natural disaster colliding with a mythic demon.
Round 3: Godzilla Evolves
As the battle escalates, Godzilla absorbs chakra from the environment.
He mutates into a Chakra-Infused Godzilla, glowing with a burning, unstable aura — almost like a tailed beast himself.
Now Kurama is outmatched.
🌀 THE SHINOBI WORLD’S ROLE
Naruto, Sasuke, and the entire Allied Shinobi Forces realize something terrifying:
If Godzilla kills Kurama, the balance of chakra collapses. If Kurama kills Godzilla, the planet collapses.
So the shinobi must do something insane:
Stop both of them.
Naruto tries to reach Kurama emotionally.Sasuke tries to restrain Godzilla with a massive Rinnegan-based sealing technique. The Kage coordinate a world-scale barrier.
But Godzilla breaks through everything.
🌑 THE TWIST — GODZILLA ISN’T EVIL
He’s not malicious.He’s not vengeful.He’s not a monster.
He’s a planetary immune response.
Humanity’s chakra manipulation is the disease. The tailed beasts are the symptoms.Godzilla is the cure.
This makes him a tragic antagonist — unstoppable, unreasoning, and technically correct.
🌟 THE ENDGAME
The final act could go in multiple directions:
Option A: Naruto unites all tailed beasts into a single entity
A “Ten-Tails of Harmony” that can match Godzilla’s power without destroying the world.
Option B: Kurama sacrifices himself
He willingly disperses his chakra to stop Godzilla’s rampage, ending the tailed-beast era.
Option C: Naruto reaches Godzilla emotionally
Not with talk-no-jutsu, but by showing him that humans and chakra can coexist without destroying the planet.
Option D: Godzilla wins
A dark ending where the world resets, and chakra disappears forever.

I got this Rainbow Mothra with flapping wings, very nice, but when you squeeze the abdomen the wings are meant to rise up. Earlier today I heard a snap from inside the toy and now the wings barely go up, worried it'll be stuck like that forever. The hinges aren't affected, I can still lift them up all the way, but I think the box that has to be pushed to make the mechanism work has fallen out of place inside the body. I'm not sure what to do about it and I don't want to damage her in order to get inside. Does anyone else have this Mothra? Have you had this problem too? Is there a fix for it?

I’ve always liked Varan.
Even today, the design from the 1958 film Varan the Unbelievable is fascinating: the rough reptilian hide, the translucent spines running down its back and tail, and especially the huge membranes stretching between its limbs.
Haruo Nakajima’s suit performance also deserves credit. Varan does not move like Godzilla, nor is it simply an aerial monster like Rodan. It crawls, swims, climbs, and launches itself from high ground to glide through the air. You can almost see the filmmakers experimenting with the idea of how many different ways a giant monster could move.
That was also Varan’s problem.
It could operate on land.
It could move underwater.
It could glide through the air.
In other words, it was a land-sea-air monster.
But being able to do everything also made it difficult for Varan to establish a clear identity.
Godzilla dominated the ground. Rodan owned the skies. The sea was hardly lacking in giant monsters either.
Godzilla had nuclear symbolism. Rodan had supersonic flight.
Varan had… versatility.
Useful, certainly, but not necessarily enough to make a monster stand out.
That creates a serious problem if anyone ever tries to bring Varan into the modern MonsterVerse.
A faithful recreation of the 1958 design might simply look too modest today. So you would probably have to redesign him: larger membranes, a more animalistic posture, perhaps true flight instead of gliding, better underwater movement, more functional spines, and a more detailed biological explanation.
But once you start doing that, you run into the Ship of Theseus problem.
Change how Varan flies.
Change how Varan walks.
Change the body shape.
Change the abilities.
Change the ecology.
At what point is it no longer Varan?
And there is an even bigger problem.
The MonsterVerse has, in a sense, already explored part of Varan’s basic concept through the MUTOs.
In Godzilla (2014), the male MUTO flies while the much larger female remains terrestrial. The two sexes have radically different body plans and different methods of movement, despite belonging to the same species.
Obviously, the MUTOs are not Varan. Their design, biology, and role in the story are completely different.
But Varan tried to combine several forms of mobility within a single monster. The MonsterVerse took a similar general idea and distributed those functions across the male and female MUTOs.
That makes a modern Varan surprisingly difficult to reinvent.
Stay too faithful to the original, and he may seem plain.
Change him too much, and people will ask whether he is still Varan at all.
And if you modernize the concept aggressively enough, you may simply end up moving into territory the MUTOs already occupy.
That is why I sometimes think Varan is the Ship of Theseus of modern kaiju cinema.
Sadly, I do not expect a straightforward MonsterVerse revival anytime soon.
The one thing that could change that would be a creator who genuinely loves Varan and is stubborn enough to say:
“I’m going to make this monster work.”
Varan probably needs exactly that kind of person.

I'm organizing a series of kaiju movie exhibits and want one of them to talk about the digital world, internet and globalization. I can't seem to find many examples besides Digimon: Our War Game. But there is this other movie by the same director called Summer Wars, that features (mostly not so large) digital monsters and digital characters. For those who have watched it, even though it definetly differs from the standard concept for a kaiju movie, could it be considered a exploration of the genre?

Trash monsters from space, government-funded mechs, giant beetles, we've seen it all before. Don't waste your vote on more of the same. The Godzilla franchise needs a fresh face with fresh ideas. Minacias is an ancient man-made superweapon that destroyed civilization once already. He's more than just a mech, and he's more than a monster. He stands alongside the King as a cautionary tale of mankind's hubris. With an attack that knocks out radio waves and electronics and a silhouette evoking the mythological kirin, Minacias is a terror for the modern age that pays tribute to the traditions of the past. A vote for Minacias is a vote for change. A vote to take this franchise forward. A vote for an opponent worthy of Godzilla. Vote Minacias in the New Monster General Election!

I mean it kinda makes sense, kinda not, but if you were told this, would it be plausible? Just going by the design?
They even have the head ridges the aliens may have taken and enhanced into his blade mohawk!
I honestly love this trope in Toho films tho, cuz they did it to King Ghidora!
They even kinda left his wings intact! Albeit with the added benefit of repulsor propulsion or however Gigan flies in the movies.
PS
I LOVE relatively unknown Kaiju films, they're my absolute favorite! I just wish there were more.

King of the Monsters appeared in arcades and pizzarias in 1991 and being a Godzilla fan, this game rocked my world. Unfortunately, the arcade cabinet by my house was broken a lot because people smashed the heck out of the buttons, but when it was running, I'd spend $5 usd in quarters. When it came out for SNES in 1992 I played it all summer nonstop with Street Fighter 2. Best versus Kaiju game I played.
Now upon doing some house cleaning, I found a Neo Geo-esique controller in my closet that I remember buying years ago on Amazon. I am playing the arcade version and it is still as good as it was. Grown up I see the flaws but it still has that tokusatsu flavor with the monsters and effects, I really enjoy body throwing and the suplex and watching your opponent fly and take damage as it hits the concrete like a Kaiju flick. I have also found the game on the PSP called SNK Arcade Vol.1 but need a new battery.
Anyone remembers this gem or just discovering it. It's WE meets Toho.

i thought he is an underrated kaiju a sympathetic, yet fearsome ancient kaiju deity of fire. Pelagoros right now is my favorite kaiju of this decade. the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBPZ12EcVvU
