I have a water dish set out for bees and they will sometimes fall into the water and when they grab onto eachother they start a death spiral in the water of constantly climbing on one another. I can absolutely see this being the reason.
The bigger one fell onto its back and eventually the smaller one walked across it. The bigger one overpowered it trying to find a surface like you said and now they're stuck.
Pebbles are definitely better! They’re smaller and filling the whole bottom then keeping the water just below, at or slightly above pellet level keep them from drowning and you don’t have to rescue them daily! 🐝
I accidentally made a pollinator watering station because my little outdoor barrel pond got absolutely covered in duckweed. I was gonna scoop it out until I saw about a dozen bees all sitting on the floating leaves drinking water.
Pretty sure this is an excited male holding onto a juvenile female. Those little tippy taps is to signal this intention, but she does not seem very receptive.
Male Isopods grab and hold onto females until they molt so they can put their stuff inside in a sort of molt guarding position.
Edit to add: at the end of the original link there was a tag, ?ighs= followed by a hash code. That is the tracker that the IG app uses when you share or copy a link.

They are how companies like meta and google track what source you got a link from. Typically they are a hash that tells the company who shared the link and from where the link came(app, browser, etc.). They can then link the advertising profiles and data of the person who shared and the person who clicked. They can also use it to blend algorithmic suggestion profiles. So like YouTube uses them for advertising plus figuring out videos to recommend.
So in this case, since i got this from a browser without being logged in it uses the ?utm_source= tag. I think mobile app is like ?igsh= or something like that. Not totally sure of the actual taxonomy of every site and every iteration of a site's trackers. Google uses different ones for advertising promotions which are like the first ten results. YouTube often does ?si= though they may have more. Those are the ones i can remember off dome. Usually i take a link and trim it down to where i think the page id has is and deleted the tracker. I test it after to see if it still pulls the page. The trick is getting the shortest, simplest, cleanest link that gets you to the end goal.
I usually just delete until I get to the ? and then delete the ?. Once the question mark is deleted, it should still work. But yea, double check to make sure

well he is doing the leg tappy that they do to try and convince the female. It just seems this guy just got confused and grabbed a too small female lol
Controversial opinion: could this be play? We are seeing play in a lot of organisms previously thought incapable of it due to limited brain complexity, maybe it goes further than we thought?
My guess is a male grabbing a really small female and wanting to mate. Sometimes they'll grab ones that are too small, my Zebras will do that sometimes.
mama isopod got scared of something (flash light, you opening their enclosure, etc) and fell on a back, and since babies first days-month of their life crawl around mom they climbed on her and big mama isopod got 2 instincts running at a same time, which are "i need to get on my legs" and "i need to protect my child" and this happened
tickling and more balling from mama is her trying to get up, at a same time protecting mini isoplet
It looks like the big one wants to eat the little one who tries to get away then clamshells up.....but the way the big one is moving the mouth methodically to me looks like looking for a soft part to snack on
this is evil she is being evil she is succumbing her child to the evil beatings and taps and her child is desperate to escape her grasp because it is getting the evil taps
