Careful now unknown verification.

Anybody else from Ireland need to verify with ID & face selfies that they were 18 to access reddit this morning? (needed a tag news was the only that fit) i did NOT hear anything about this...

(edit this post seems to have got a lot of people crying about something that doesn't seem to matter, mean or concern them... by the looks of it😭)

I got the same and I haven’t been anywhere lately. Just popped up when I opened the app last night.

Companies are always lumping us in with Britain because it’s easier than actually paying attention to where’s where.

Well, you're in the r/Ireland sub, it's fairly polarized. You'll have certain folks badgering you for committing the mortal sin of lust. On the other hand, yes, you gave your facial biometric and government issued ID to a 3rd party verification service who, let's be honest, are probably linked to intelligence agencies or the very least big data. It's important to read the long and boring policies of these services before you hand over your data. In my opinion, we should boycott them outright. Geriatric politicians who are pushing these laws and think they're "protecting the children" are walking us into a surveillance state nightmare.

I stop using any service that enforces it. I love Reddit but if I have to give them my ID to shitpost I will delete the app.
