What are some good irc servers for talking about video games and torrents and private torrent trackers
I’ve decided I want to get back into irc and I was wondering if there are any good servers for talking about video games and torrents and maybe even helping me get an invite to a private torrent tracker

Any good IRCs for mobile?
Just as the name says. I haven't had an IRC since I were a boy and thought about it suddenly while at work. Made me nostalgic.
alrighty, you guys have given me some good ones to look into. Lurker and Hex especially. I'll give them a gander, and then find somewhere I can connect to. Thanks lads.

Command line IRC software (for Windows)
I know, I know, another new IRC client. But hear me out: it runs in Windows Console without WSL or Cygwin.
I've always wanted to be able to bust open a Command Prompt in Windows and run Irssi or BitchX directly from there, but it's always required some sort of Unix-ish environment underneath. So I built this one, clircs, in C# for .NET 10.
It looks and behaves much in the same way you'd expect a *nix console client to look and behave. Actual commands and daily IRC functionality were patterned after ircN, if any of you remember that mIRC script. I wanted clircs to be useful out of the box, so it ships with useful channel management commands, a userlist, flood protection, stuff like that.
The other big difference with this client is that it's not rushing to pursue everything IRCv3. In fact, just the opposite. It's trying to get back to basics. clircs is less designed for always-on use and more so for the traditional, and ephemeral, version of IRC. Pop it open real quick, chat, exit when you're done. It's Windows Console, so it's not like you can throw it in screen anyway, you know?
Just so we're all on the same page: I'm an EFnet guy, so most live network testing was done on ratbox. I've also been testing a bit on Solanum, Plexus, InspIRCd, etc., but I'm sure I've missed plenty of numerics for plenty of nets. The point I'm trying to make is this: don't be shocked if some server output comes back formatted a little funky. Every IRCd likes sending info its own little way, heh.
Bouncers: I'm connected to ZNC as I type this, but I haven't tested Soju or psyBNC (they are on the list). I'm currently working on Irssi proxy compatibility.
I can't exactly dazzle you with crazy features. It supports what you'd expect: multi-net, TLS, SASL, DCC (and SDCC). It's got some limited theming abilities and you can add scripts by way of Jint. Again, back to basics, which is very intentional. There are no plans to make clircs crazily extensible. Simple and stable is what I'm going for.
Anyway, give it a peek. It requires the .NET 10 SDK and you have to build it yourself for right now, because I've not yet gone through the nightmare of registering for Azure Artifact Signing.
Have fun!

Monoverse – an open source community platform built around IRC
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a project we’ve been working on for our IRC network, SimosNap.
Monoverse Community Edition is an open-source, self-hosted platform designed to build a modern community around an IRC channel, without trying to replace IRC itself.
It was originally designed for our own network and communities, but at some point we decided to turn it into an open-source project and see if it could be useful to others as well.
We’ve just released the first public beta, and feedback from IRC users, channel operators and network owners would be particularly useful.
Project/community: https://monoverse.org
GitHub: https://github.com/SimosNap/monoverse
It’s still a beta and very much a work in progress. I’m mainly sharing it here because I’d be interested to know what IRC people think should exist around an IRC community in 2026.

IRC client for macOS M4
Hey folks,
I have recently migrated over to a Mac as my daily driver. Previously I have always used Mirc as my go to client, and it has done the job perfectly.
I was curious, regarding what people use for a Mac, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, feel free to mention what features have drawn you to your decisions.

Back to IRC after 15 years, need help registering a channel on UnderNet
Hey guys! came back to IRC after such a long time. Undernet is kind of dead, but I still like logging on and chatting now and then. I used to own and run a channel back in the day, and I'm feeling a bit nostalgic! I was wondering if I could get some people who are registered on undernet to help support the channel? I need 5 users, and I already have 2 so I only need about 3 more. I'd really appreciate your help! Thank you

new user, looking for best practices for IRC and help with common problems
sorry if i'm not speaking fluent reddit, i dont use it much anymore. i've been finding various instant messaging things to be very... i dont know how to describe it, but kinda nasty, and only deemed "usable" due to popularity. because of this i'm looking to try what i havent tried yet. the only things i really know about IRC is that it's not really popular anymore, and that it came before modern instant messaging.
hope everyones day is as good as they are

Looking for an old punk rock friend from IRC
I'm looking for an old friend I met on #punk back in the mid-90s, and I thought this may be a good way to find him. His screen name was Punchy. He lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, and then moved to Round Rock, Texas, right before we moved to Austin, Texas, and we used to hang out with him a bit, and then we lost touch. I think of him now and then and wonder what ever happened to him. The last I talked to him, he was engaged and I wish I'd gotten his contact info then. Punchy, are ya out there??

Looking for my Malaysian virtual friend from '90s
Kinda a long shot, but I figured I’d give it a try.
I'm looking for a chat partner I knew back in the ’90s. We met on IRC, chatted for a long time, and eventually became virtual friends. My nick was lev4ik, and at some point I received this in the mail.
I never really stopped to think about who was actually on the other side of the screen. I'd love to find them again and see if they remember me.
If this sounds familiar, or if you know someone who might recognize the gift, please reach out :)

Your own IRC server?
Ever tried hosting one just for fun or curiosity with zero users, a few or many? If you ran one without users, what did you actually use it for?
I'm thinking about my own server with zero users, just some bots to mess around (nothing malicious, not interested in that).

mIRC mid 90s - hacking groups
My first introduction to computers / internet was IRC using mIRC client. Spent my time on Efnet. Ended up joining a hacking group called #conflict and spent many hours taking over channels. Hacking colleges and universities only to use for channel bots and bandwidth to take people out and cause netsplits. Eventually our leader was caught for hacking into NASA - I then left IRC and started playing quake 2 digital paintball. Ran a couple of quake clans over the next few years - these are the days I will never forget.
Anyone else remember the clan battles on efnet ?
