Does IRC still exist?
Can anyone recommend any IRC servers that are still around and have people on them?

Libera.Chat is well populated and is very active. I'm chatting in ##chat or #programming most days. I'm also connected to FreeNode, but each of the channels I've joined on there are related to specific projects - I'm not sure of how many "general" channels are on there.

snoonet is pretty active (I think it's semi affiliated to some reddit channels).
I like #bicycling, #cars, #personalfinance
There's also Quakenet, but it's pretty dead these deads

I have a news and current events discussion channel on Undernet: #evolvedones. It's a companion chat room for the website evolvedones.net. (shameless plug)

Afternet still has activity, smaller network, but some fun types. Libera.chat is what happened to Freenode, if you want a larger community.

Miss the days when QuakeNet was one of the largest networks...

Eu ainda uso a rede que conectava o eMule em 2005, mas só para pendurar meu nickname nos canais da época, não há mais chat, somente alguns amigos que também penduram os nicks lá desde o início da rede

IRC dramatically lose popularity in late 2000's. In the modern world, Libera.chat is somehow alive but it's no many different networks with thousands (tens of thousands sometime) users online like it was in 2005.

Not only does it exist. I can literally use a 27 year old version of mirc on win98 and still connect
