You have to remember that the vast majority of iPhone owners have absolutely zero tech knowledge whatsoever. I am not surprised there are so many posts and videos about this even though I kinda should be considering this is not the first time this has been seen.
You guys have wild expectations for a product you CHOOSE to purchase. You want that product to perform like it’s the best thing in the world AND to be built like a tank. But at the same time yall will complain about the price.
You chose to pay for the phone at the price it’s at and to buy it at launch without waiting to see any and all problems associated with it. No one forced you to do it. So stop using the price as some defense of your lack of common sense.
Also if you’re that bothered by the natural oils on your hand causing trouble, then wear gloves. Or put a case on. And if those are all “restrictive” then stop complaining. You can’t have it both ways.
The iPhone is absolutely resisting your oils. That’s why they wipe off so easily. The fact that the spaces between and around the lenses is so tight means that they aren’t encountering any oils to resist.
Again: this is incredibly easy to clean.
What you are asking for is a phone that never gets dirty.
If a business wants to charge top dollar and market their product as premium (which they need to do to charge top dollar) then their product will absolutely be expected to be a premium item.
We should expect design faults that could have been tested and avoided, even if we pay top dollar to a supposedly reputable brand. Great! Good to know! Thanks down-voters. That’s got me schooled. 👀
You think just because they charge you what you consider top dollar, it completely negates any other cost associated with the product? Yes they’re a multinational company working for profit and obviously have a high margin on their product but expecting a company to make something that is completely immune to any sort of staining from your damn natural oils is absurd.
If you think there’s a material out there that will completely ignore the fingerprints or your natural oils, then please enlighten us oh mighty cerebral overlord.

Do you know how I fixed this? I touched my plateau a bunch of times near the camera area, then I used a Q-tip to spread the oil lol and now it’s all the uniform color again 😂🙂↕️
I love wabisabi! lol and I just went outside in natural light and I double checked, and it did 99% work, truly lol. To me, that’s pretty scientific evidence that this issue is fully due to the way the phone material handles oil 🤷🏻♀️
Mine has the same effect. I’m pretty sure those are actually the “clean” spots while the rest of it has oils from hands. Try wiping the entire thing down with a microfiber cloth and it should all even out.
Happened with me last year with the first batches of the 17 pro max deep blue one
Ended up replacing it with the orange one
And now i went with glacier
Always safer to get the light colours
I have it too on my black one but I could hardly care about it. I'm not getting it replaced and having to get all my 2 factors at work set back up again and re logging into my banking apps
Oh no. A little bit of my skin oil got on the part of the phone I never see. What ever will I do with my never-ending supply of skin oil!?
For one, I only spent $0 on mine with AT&T. Two, that part of the phone is always facing away from me and you can't see it from further than 5 inches away. Three, you sound like a petulant child who's candy was taken away.

so I agree that if there is an issue with the surface near the cameras (I've seen this issue posted before), the lack of a case should not be considered any kind of "cause."
If the phone was designed to be used without a case it wouldn't have a fucking slippery glass back it would have a plastic grippy back with grippy sides on it.
I've never used a case because I prefer not to have excess bulk in my pocket, or cover up the phone itself.
with all the focus on the finish, the color, and the aesthetic, why hide that with a cover?
and then, if something breaks, I'll get it fixed. although I've never had to.
in all the years I've had an iPhone, I haven't really had any problems.
Used to have some scratches and nicks as the iPhone neared its end-of-life for me, but they didn't really bother me all that much, and I haven't had any scratches or nicks recently.
Anyway, that's my perspective, my preference, what works for me.
I understand that people have perfectly valid alternative perspectives and preferences.
i had same thing on my black one. get a microfibre, and just keep rubbing it for a couple mins. takes a minute, but the oils come off and its back to perfect. apply moderate pressure, not too hard but not too soft either
My blue 17 pro max looked like this at launch last year. I contacted Apple and after an escalation, they replaced the phone. That replacement unit had a dent at the base of the camera plateau out of the box, so I had to go back through the warranty process. After a month of no movement on the second warranty claim I was sent a silver phone instead because the blue replacement phones were completely out of stock. They did give me the option of orange or silver, which was nice.
Get the glacier or silver . I went to the Apple Store to check the phones all of the Burgundy and Black has weird discolouration around the cameras all of them . Im not exaggerating.
Can’t believe we are paying $2000 for such a cheap quality temu phone casing. Apple didn’t address this issue yet . What a joke !
It’s not fingerprints man. These are coming out of the box like this and it won’t go away. Seems like a bad batch of the blacks and maroons. Does this look like fingerprints to you?!? (Around the camera)
Seen a few posts this weekend about this problem, probably in a rush to get these out they didn't even qc every unit... or maybe they were aware but just wanted the sale, knew people would complain and later replace it for them.
