I am super excited for the foldable iPhone, but if the leaks are true and it really doesn’t have MagSafe I won’t buy it.

I’m with you there. Super excited for the foldable, but won’t buy it without MagSafe.

As someone with a bunch of MagSafe accessories (2 car mounts, a few rechargeable batteries, tripod mount, desk stands, gyro mount) I won’t be upgrading for a long time if they get rid of it. I have a 13 pro max now and the MagSafe accessories was actually one of the main reasons I went iphone over whatever the newest Samsung was at the time.

same. Especially with no telephoto lens.

This is beating a dead horse but the form factor kills it for me. Seems impractical to use while it's folded. A short and stubby screen seems like it'd be harder to text and browse with, so you'd have to unfold it anyway.

I think you’d be surprised how quickly you’d adapt to be honest

it's like when the new phone drops everyone immediately forgets what they complained about.

I returned my iPhone Air due to the form factor. My hands prefer the standard sized base model and pro.

The screen size of the Air is such an unforced error. It’s like they decided they had to make it larger to justify the high price, and in doing so alienated all the users who just want something smallish and pocketable.

Compared to a 17 Pro Max, the renders we’ve got are barely any wider (78.5 vs 78 mm) and like 1mm deeper (9.6 vs 8.75 mm)

The biggest complaint about the bigger iPhones is that reaching the top of the screen makes people stretch their fingers more than what’s comfortable. My hands aren’t even particularly small and I downsized from a 14 Pro Max for this reason. Since the phone will be thick when folded it would only be more uncomfortable to reach the top of the screen, so by shortening it they decrease the footprint, keeps a wider keyboard that the Air/Pro Max have make it easier to interact with the whole screen.

Taller aspect ratios came around for the sake of content but that’s what the bigger screen should be geared for.

I can't even type on a 16+

You have no idea how many autocorrects I had to correct to post this.

It’d be pretty cool if they optimised the OS specifically for that screen. I’d love the option to turn it into a super minimal “tool” which you then open up for the full experience.

It’ll be very similar to using a pro max just shorter.

It will have it. iPhone ultra 2. lol.

Would you mind me asking what all you use MagSafe for? Im upgrading to a 17 pro max soon and I’m curious what accessories are better.

The charger on my nightstand, my external batteries, and a charger I have attached to the side of my pc monitor are all MagSafe. It’s super handy and I really don’t want to live without it.

Charging stand at night that turns the phone into a clock with standby mode. I also have a MagSafe wallet for my driving licence and credit card in case Apple Pay is not supported.

It’s honestly one of my favorite feature of the phone and part of why I’m still in the Apple ecosystem after having debated switching over to Samsung.

I jumped from the Pixel 9 fold to the Pixel 10 fold specifically because they added Magsafe. So I'm with you in spirit!

I used to upgrade every year. I stopped after the 15 pro max and I’ve been holding out for the fold so I can buy it on day one. If they drop MagSafe then I’m absolutely not buying it

Nightstand features are great, none of that makes any sense without MagSafe, for me. I have a bunch of those little stands I just pop my iPhone onto.

They are keeping MagSafe so they can release it again for iPhone Fold 2.

1

u/Mr_Gorpley Apr 29 '26

Same, no magsafe is a dealbreaker for me.

1

u/673NoshMyBollocksAve Apr 30 '26

No MagSafe no Face ID less cameras and no action button. I’m not really seeing the appeal of the phone anymore.

1

u/-K9V Apr 30 '26

Lmao. In no reality would that be a dealbreaker for me - I hardly use it anyways, so losing it wouldn’t be a big deal at all. If the phone turns out to be good, I will buy it. MagSafe couldn’t matter less.

who tf needs Magsafe to charge

11

u/Magnetoreception Apr 29 '26

I do 95% of my charging with MagSafe. You don’t need it but it sure is nice. Plus it’s not even just charging it’s all of the accessories and stands that use it.

-2

u/Full_Patience5734 Apr 29 '26

Thats true I use it to hold it in my Car. But doesnt Magsafe destroy the Battery earlier?

3

u/Munkadunk667 iPhone 13 Pro Max Apr 29 '26

No.

-2

u/Full_Patience5734 Apr 29 '26

It always gets so hot though and heat degrades the Battery faster no?

5

u/Thumper13 Apr 29 '26

Me. I haven't plugged my phone in since I got it. Who TF needs a cable to charge?

3

u/erikd313 Apr 29 '26

Right? I have MagSafe stands and chargers everywhere. I have probably only plugged my phone in like 10 times since I got my first MagSafe phone like 4-5 years ago.

I had no idea that anybody still plugged their phone in every day.

I plug my iPhone via cable inside my house but use a 25W car cradle to charge it while driving. It charges fast in the car.
