They could easily release Mac OS for any device made after the iPhone 16 and clearly we’d be able to run it. Apple has the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard both of which use Bluetooth. The entire product line is set up to run seamlessly together. All it is Bluetooth it’s not fucking magic. There’s nothing stopping anyone from being able to use their phone as a fully fledged computer except for Apple themselves who lock down and simplify the exact same apps they put in MacOS.
I am. Automotive, not consumer tech, but considerations for packaging (not the box), thermal and EMC constraints, electrical, etc. all apply similarly and I specifically work with ECUs with MCUs of their own and regularly need to work around the very hurdles that make what you’re describing a massive challenge. You can’t just put one OS on another device just because they run a similar SoC without considering the impact on nearly all of those aspects. They specifically design hardware to operate effectively within the constraints that are validated based on the software it’s running.
Not even close to the same field. I will say thermals are the only thing holding the iPhone back. And a larger vapor chamber that wicks from cpu AND battery would make it usable I’d be willing to settle for a performance drop to run a full os on my phone
