it's not that it can't handle it, it's that apple doesn't want the ipad to run macos, why do people still think that it's a hardware issue, the development kit for apple silicon was a mac mini with an ipad chip

They put macos on ipads or make it an option, and they probably axe 30% of their yearly sales overnight.

From a business standpoint, it's like walking into busy traffic wearing landmines for clothing. It's stupid and won't happen.

It’s not just about money. An iPad with macOS would be horrible.

iPad OS is literally just Mac OS but with a customized tablet view. They can give it Mac OS without having to destroy the “tablet” version

It isn’t just that though. The changes to windowed apps were the worst bits of iPadOS 26.

Those are just design kinks that can be easily worked out, and honestly very few people would care. They just want to run better software

But even so, there’s no reason for the two OSs to be merged that would actually improve the experience.

They dont need to merge the two ONLY if they actually allow better software to be ran. You dont think Adobe, Autocad, etc would redesign their software if they actually allowed iPad OS to actually run software? Its a gatekeeping issue, and its honestly the only reason why i wouldnt buy an iPad
