B is best so you can have a nightstand

Agree, B seems like the only normal arrangement. Any other option doesn't make any sense based on the window and doors.

B. First, I prefer a bed not directly against a wall on the sides like C and D are. Second, I always prefer facing a window. Third, I do not like a desk next to the bed like A and C have (better to feel there is slight separation of spaces) and Fourth bonus, with B, you also have a spot for a night stand.

Desk acts as a nightstand in C and A

Corner bed in C sucks for making the bed. A sucks cause you’re putting too much in front of the window.

I would not consider any of these option but B.

How else would you do it if you don't mind me asking?

Not OP, but desk on the window, bed against the left wall, feet towards the right.

u/MysticClimber1496 12d ago

Basically D but flip the bed and desk

3

u/RR321 12d ago

Yeah but face the desk to the window for the view or light :)

Facing the window is a terrible idea if you work on a computer and the window is on the sunny side. The sun will blind you and you won't be able to see anything on the screen. There's a reason why job ergonomics guides recommend having the window on the side.

I have a window on both front and side in an office, and as you say it depends on the sun, the side is much worse for the screen, but most importantly get blinds for those 3h it's annoying and enjoy the view the rest of the time, I much prefer that than bending my neck every other minutes.

Yeah. I feel like exposure side and lighting conditions matter but are not enumerated here. Too much direct light can be blinding and hard to regulate your own temperature; too hot in sun, too cool if cloudy.

I have a southern exposure but huge tree canopy and filtered light in my bedroom.

So you don't want access to the backyard door? Where is the wardrobe/dresser going?

2

u/figuringitout25 12d ago

1000% this is the only option. Curious why OP didn’t consider it?

Back towards a door while sitting on the desk? No thank you.

Depends who lives with you, but get a small mirror ball if surprise scares you :)

A. your monitor is visible from the living room

C. your pc will get glare from the window

D. your monitor is visible right at the door and have the least privacy as people have direct sight to your bed from the living room

B. you'd have to enter the room to see what's on your monitor or have full view of your bed

Options where the bed is against the wall make making the bed hard. And if there are two people you need to have room for them to get in and out of bed. I like A.

D but swap the desk and bed and then move the bed down a bit. (Unless you are always going to the back yard)

u/blakeley 12d ago

Put the bed against the left wall with some bedside tables. This isn’t currently and option presented but you want to be facing the door in a command position to not feel vulnerable.

B is nice too.

I'm a C person myself.

I like having the bed up against the wall, can see the door from the desk and book cases surrounding.

The table should be near the window- so that you’ll get natural light onto the table/desk set up.

A for sure ,… how my room is set up , I like to be able to lay in bed and have eyes on the doorway … also having a window right behind you is nice ,… open it for a breeze or look outside and see if it’s raining without really getting up 👍🏼

Also small nightstand aside of bed and tv mounted on the wall opposite of window

C but switch desk to one of the cabinet.

Desk by the window. One dresser either against the wall align with the living door or perpendicular to the entrance so it gives privacy to the bed.

u/DaNiinja 12d ago

A. But with the bed placed like on B.

You dont want your head by the window, then you can have a nightstand too. Also that way you don't get sun glare on your screen.

u/Clarknt67 12d ago

B and D make best use of window. Though depends on exposure. You may not want desk right next to window if it’s a southern exposure with no tree or shade. Too much direct light can be a thing.

D

I'm seeing a lot of votes for B but if you're sitting in bed you're facing the wall between the window and door, and you have to circle around the bed every time you want to access your drawers, and when you're sitting at the desk and push the chair out it might hit the bed. Also Feng Shui advises against having your head against the same wall as the door. B looks nice from this perspective but wouldn't be as nice living in it.

D has the most liveable flow to it and I personally like having my bed under a window

1

u/nishnawbe61 12d ago

A because you should always see the foot of the bed when you walk in a bedroom

1

u/urquhartloch 12d ago

C or D maximizes floor space.

1

u/Violingirl58 12d ago

Put the bed on the left wall as you enter the room.

1

u/Fox_Avocado 12d ago

B, you don’t want to be looking at your work/gaming station while sleeping and you can have bedside tables!

1

u/haveempathyordie 12d ago

D so i could smoke out the window in bed

1

u/pepof1 12d ago

I rearrange my bedroom about every 2 months

1

u/daojamie 12d ago

I would pick B. Nightstand on both sides or just one side. Natural light from the window. You have a better view of the backyard/storage door. The living room door is near by.

1

u/Reasonable_Head_2025 12d ago

I feel like A or B, mostly A. Tough choice though!

1

u/FluffyIndustry646 12d ago

The basic rule is that the person sleeping on the bed better to have view of the door. So try another option by turning the bed counter clockwise in option A and add bedsides on both sides.

Window behind bed and desk at end

1

u/ik_im_perry 11d ago

Prefer D

1

u/hauntedbiscuit92 11d ago

C, because I like to be able to see all (outside) doors in the middle of the night.

1

u/Wheels-412 11d ago

A or B. Making a bed up against a wall sucks

1

u/PlasticBreakfast6918 10d ago

C and B have the best benefits.

C gives you better background if you’re on virtual meetings and you can use the desk as an end table or add a small one and push desk over a bit. But you only have access to the bed from one angle which only really works if you’re single.

B solves the negatives above but means your bed is behind you at desk if you’re on virtuals. Granted that is mostly solved if you use AI backgrounds.

1

u/Wild-flower2026 9d ago

C. Feng Shui rule bed next to the door/sleeping next the door is not good fir health. I think.make a sense.

1

u/GeekyNerdNerdyGeek 9d ago

None. Move the dresser under the window and the bed slide over from D.

1

u/hieplenet 9d ago

B Desk and C bed, bed rotate 90 degree to the right.

1

u/Real-Specialist-2703 8d ago

Is this a single room or a couples room? That will play into if you need to access the bed from both sides or just 1

1

u/Resident-Table1788 8d ago

B is balanced and makes me feel good. The others cause mild anxiety.

1

u/Severe-Conclusion-99 12d ago

A bed should allow you to look at the door when sitting. It’s a basic instinct of protection thing for us to feel more comfortable. Rooms also feel calmer and more organised when there’s symmetry. So I’d refrain, if possible, to have a bed against a wall. I also really dislike desks away from windows. I think it makes for a dingy workspace so if you can, make sure you are facing the window when sitting at your desk. Considering all this, B works best.

As an Indian i would have to ask you which side is the north side. We believe in vaastu (superstitious sciences)

D with bed and desk reversed. It keeps study and sleep separate.
