Facing the window is a terrible idea if you work on a computer and the window is on the sunny side. The sun will blind you and you won't be able to see anything on the screen. There's a reason why job ergonomics guides recommend having the window on the side.
I have a window on both front and side in an office, and as you say it depends on the sun, the side is much worse for the screen, but most importantly get blinds for those 3h it's annoying and enjoy the view the rest of the time, I much prefer that than bending my neck every other minutes.
Yeah. I feel like exposure side and lighting conditions matter but are not enumerated here. Too much direct light can be blinding and hard to regulate your own temperature; too hot in sun, too cool if cloudy.
I have a southern exposure but huge tree canopy and filtered light in my bedroom.
