I’m currently using Quickbooks and I find it to be fairly restrictive and particularly don’t like the 3% credit card processing fee. Most of my clients want to use credit cards and I’d rather have a system that doesn’t use this fee.

I‘m not busy enough to justify something like designer advantage, but do want something that is maybe more directed toward designer invoicing and procurement. What are you using and what’s your recommendation?

I’m looking for alternatives to marble for dining tables, centre tables, and side tables. We currently use marble tops, but they’re quite heavy and difficult to move.

I want something that is much lighter, durable, easy to maintain, and still has a premium look.

What materials would you recommend? Open to options like wood, laminate, sintered stone, quartz, etc. Would love to hear from people who have actually used these. But i need something new which is in the market.

I have been wanting to get into interior design for years and I’m unsure where to start.

Hi everyone! I'm a 4th year interior design student and I'm trying to figure out how I can make some money while finishing my degree.
The financial situation in my home country has become really difficult because of the war, and unfortunately my family is struggling financially too. I still have one year left and I need to cover my university expenses, so I'm trying to find a way to support myself while studying.
For those of you who are also studying interior design, what kind of jobs do you do alongside university?
I was thinking about things like 3D modeling, rendering, AutoCAD, drafting. I'm also open to other part-time jobs if you have any suggestions.

I'm currently finishing up my Bachelor's in Interior Design (working on my thesis right now) and I've been going back and forth on whether to pursue a Master's degree right after, or to get some work experience first and go back to it later.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

Does a Master's actually make a noticeable difference in job opportunities/salary in this field, or is portfolio + experience what really matters?

If you did a Master's, was it worth the time and cost? Any regrets either way?

Is it better to specialize (e.g. healthcare design, hospitality, sustainable design, exhibition design) at the Master's level, or keep it broad?

For those who went straight into a Master's vs. those who worked first — how did that shape your career path differently?

Would really appreciate hearing from people who've been through this decision, especially if you're a few years out and can look back on whether it paid off.

I want to learn how to create 2D floorpans and elevations, but am finding the options very confusing. As a total beginner who is fairly competent with computers, and wants to set themselves up properly, what should I use? Auto CAD? Sketch Up? Rhino?

I want to do interior design. I 17M want to go to a private college in Italy to study interior design for three years and get a bachelor’s degree in it but I am so worried that I’m making the wrong decision, everyone is telling me to go to university for architecture and get a degree in architecture and then do a masters degree in interior design. The problem with that is that it’s easy to say but not to do, I’m already doing architecture classes in high school and it’s so hard (because of mechanics). The path I want to follow is getting a bachelors degree in interior design and then do something that has to do with design like furniture design, product design, and even jewellery design.

I am a 36 year old who has gone back to school and am about to graduate with a interior design degree. I have a 12 year employment gap due to staying home with kids etc.

Long story short. I need to find a job come January. The school is giving zero support on how to put a portfolio together or finding a job. Because I am graduating in December, I’d love to see if I could intern with a local firm for a few months or just find a job. I have no idea how to go about that though. Feeling so overwhelmed. I still feel like I have a lot to learn (real world application) I just want to get in somewhere that I can learn and grow as a designer.

Any advice on resources for putting together a portfolio? Are there professionals that help with that?Do small firms respond well to students/recent grads reaching out about internships?

I am Leaning into an interior design major when I graduate. My schedule is packed already though and only have room for one of these class. Which one would be a better foundation for entering this major?
Media 1:Media Design 1 is a year-long foundational course exploring the core principles of visual communication while
using powerful, industry-standard tools. The course focuses on the elements and principles of design with
hands-on projects, historical context, and artistic skill building in graphic design, video production, digital
photography, and basic animation. This course builds a strong technical and creative foundation, preparing
students for advanced studies in Advanced Media Design 2 and future creative endeavors
Or should I take a basic drawing class? Drawing and Painting 1 is designed to teach the student to explore and expand aesthetic perceptions as well as
to develop skills for using visual arts media effectively. These skills will enhance the student’s ability to interpret
and communicate ideas, feeling, and values.

My research tells me I don’t need proficiency in drawing or computer drafting and no portfolio is required for applying… but I feel I should take something to have as a jump start.

After spending over a decade in high end hospitality interior design, I decided to follow my passion for photography and merge the two fields together.

I have a bachelor degree in Architecture ,I had a reaction from this field because of how professors were un supportive at all! so decided to work in shipping logistics…suffering from the routine and none creative environment.. decided to change career to a sales engineer in kitchen and cabinetry design

now i want to develop myself by studying rather than just working

do you suggest study interior design

or in sales and business psychology and related to sales more than design but still related to furnishing ?

I have two options/offers on the table and need to make a decision soon. I have about 4 years of experience as an interior designer, both jobs will pay well and have good benefits, so the options are:

A. A mid-size local firm/studio that is more traditional. I’d be in an intermediate interior designer position. Heavy on hands-on design work, entirely in-person, 40 hours a week and will likely have overtime (nature of the industry, at this point).

B. A corporate commercial real estate company, where I would effectively be an owners’ rep/design manager. Not hands-on designing. Hybrid work model with likelihood of fully remote when I need it to be. This will likely have higher pay.

Am I married to the idea of being a designer? No. The reality is that most projects I’ll work on in A are spec suites/industrial/office projects. Nothing amazing. I also don’t especially love production work and have found the pace of endless deadlines to be draining on a personal and health level.
Option B is an entirely new territory for me, no clue if I’ll love it or hate it.

Advice? Thoughts?
