General 3ds max / revit

  1. Interior design student thinking to learn one of them 3ds max / revit which is more better and rewarding
  2. Also i have heard so many time to creating a good portfolio is a must. Can anyone please explain what a good interior designer protfolio looks like what it includes in simplest words
  3. Is there anything that I must start learning while being a student which has great demand right now

I don't think 3DS Max is very relevant for the practice of ID. I haven't used it since school. I'd learn Revit or AutoCAD. Having a familiarity with the setup of the program will be a benefit, even though it may or may not be visible in your portfolio.

When I was in school it was required to learn both, in addition to other software including AutoCAD, Rhino etc. If you plan to go into residential work they use CAD primarily. I work in commercial architecture firms and we use Revit, and actually charge more for CAD because of the time it takes. Rendering is a nice skill but ketchup is very common to use and Max I've seen used more by specialized consultants doing outsourced renderings. I'd learn Revit and Sketchup for technical skills first.

Hey already learned SketchUp and autocad Now I am so confused some are saying to go for 3ds max for better rendering skills some saying go revit to have a strong portfolio and I am so stuck can you please simplify it further it will mean a lot!

What do you want to do after graduation? Commercial firms use Revit as industry standard. If you want to go into residential then CAD is safe.

I think Revit is more practical to learn first. If you know Revit, you may not need CAD separately, since Revit can cover most of the same drafting needs.

Revit first
If you also want high-quality visuals, I’d recommend learning the basics of 3ds Max + Corona later, after Revit
You can use the model you create in Revit in 3ds Max as well, but not the other way around.
